This Sunday at 5:00 p.m. begins another year of Awana at FBC! I know of few ministries to children that are more biblically-based and gospel-centered than Awana. It truly teaches kids how to hide God’s Word in their hearts. Perhaps best of all, Awana is a wonderful tool that parents can use as they seek to become the spiritual leader of the home that God has called
them to be. As a church that believes in fulfilling the Great Commission, may we never forget that the Great Commission starts at home - by passing on our faith to the next generation! I hope you’ll make plans to have your child and/or grandchild here on Sunday nights and also consider volunteering in Awana as well. For more information, see our Awana commander, Monte McGregor. Don’t forget that we will also be observing the ordinance of the Lord’s Supper at both morning services this Sunday. Let’s celebrate the fact that Jesus invites each one of us, no matter how unworthy we may feel, to join Him at the table! In His Service, Bro. Bob
I would like to thank all those who volunteered their time and effort to make our back to school bash a success. We could not have done it without you. The final tally for water balloons was approximately 3000! I could not be more proud as a youth minister of how so many people were willing to come together to make it happen. I am especially encouraged by students who gave
up time on their final two days of summer to help clean the youth building and fill balloons. I pray that the Lord honors all of your work as you are witnesses for His kingdom this school year. For His Name Sake, Zach
Worship Music for Sunday (August 17) This Sunday morning Bro. Bob will be preaching the
message, "When the Sick Are Made Well," from Mark 2:13-17, at BOTH AM services! Plus, we will be
observing the Lord’s Supper at BOTH AM services! Our praise team will lead our music at the 8:30
a.m. service! The Worship Choir will open the 10:50 a.m. service with the praise anthem: "God Is Our
Refuge and Strength!" Lance and Glenda will play the instruments for the 10:50 a.m. service!
Sunday night Bro. Bob will continue his series through the book of Acts with the message: “A
Clear Conscience,” from Acts 24:1-27! Lance will play the organ for Sunday night!

student days) you should join us on Wednesday nights at 5:45 p.m.!
Hims of Harmony (Mark your Calendar) Start getting your recipes and ingredients together! The
annual Hims of Harmony Music night will be Next Sunday night, August, 24, at 6:00! It will be followed
by the annual Men's Cake Bake and Ice Cream Fellowship! The Hims have been invited to sing in

more as the time grows nearer!
Sassy Ole Souls to Grand Rivers (Patti's & Badgett Theater) This coming Friday, August 22, we
will be taking our church mini-bus to eat lunch at Patti's 1880's Settlement restaurant! After lunch we
have tickets to a Country Music show at the Badgett Theater (just up the street from Patti's). We will
leave at 8:30 that Friday morning, take a McDonald's and restroom stop at E-town, and travel
another 2 hours to make our 12:45 lunch reservation at Patti's. We will have a little time for light
shopping before moving to the Badgett Theater for the 3:00 matinee (2:00 CDST). We will start for
home around 5:00, and with at least 1 restroom stop along the way, we should be back home around
8:30 that night! The cost will be $24 per person plus money for your lunch at Patti's!
Yours in Christ, Mark
