THOUGHTS FROM BRAD
The title of this study has caused some to wonderwhat will be addressed. Here is a sampling of thetopics: The disappearance of sin, the malignancy ofsin, ungodliness, anxiety and frustration, discontentment, unthankfulness, pride, selfishness, lack of self-control, impatience and irritability, anger,
judgmentalism, just to name a few. Did you find yoursin on the list yet? Dont worry, well help you discoverit and encourage you to deal with it.
It is really easy for us as Christians, to focus all of ourtime on the more open sins of our society and point afinger. In this class, you will discover it is time to dealwith your own sins, as subtle as they may be in your
life. Let us not tolerate our sins anymore. Lets allowGods Spirit to prompt us daily to become Holy, as
God is holy.
BITS FROM BRO. DAVE
PERSONAL NOTE: Sue and I, belatedly, want to thank each of you who rememberedour birthdays and anniversary (57 years).
Your cards and good wishes are muchappreciated. As has been our custom, we gotout of town for a few days (visiting theupper reaches of that state to the North ofus.) Thanks, again, for your thoughtfulness.
TRIP CANCELLED: It became necessary
to cancel our scheduled trip to AmishCountry on August 27. We only had 8people signed up and that was insufficient topay for travel. Additionally, because ournumber fell below 20, we lost our groupdiscount at the museum. It is possible thatwe may try again in October or November.
NEW HORIZONS RETREAT: There is stilltime to register for this annual event which isheld at the North Terrace Church of Christ,in Zanesville. This is a single day eventwhich is planned just for seniors. Our hostsprovide a continental breakfast, lunch and an
excellent program. The registration fee is$25. A sign-up sheet and registration formsmay be found on our main bulletin board.C l t f d it l ith
On September 10t , a new LifeGroup will begin entitled:
Respectable Sins. This study
will force us to question why it iswe are comfortable with ourown sins but not the sins ofeveryone else. Dont let the topickeep you away. As a disciple ofChrist, we need to listen to HisSpirit as he challenges us togrow up in our faith.

Core Values...
Values central to the life, mission andvision of Fifth Avenue Church of Christ are:
Christ-Centered WorshipWe make it a priority every Sunday to celebrate Jesus through ourmusic. (Romans 11:36-12:1-2). We focus on Jesus through grace-
based preaching and teaching & understand the Bible is ourauthority (2 Timothy 3:16).
Church Health and Biblical BalanceChurch health becomes reality when God's people seek harmony &live consistently. We expect every member to protect the unity
of Christ's Church. (Romans 12:16; 1 Peter 3:8)
Global EvangelismWe are constant to our founding call to worldwide evangelism,
proclaiming to all that Jesus Christ is the Savior, Healer, and Soon-
Coming King (Acts 20:27).
Fellowship and MinistryAfter people begin their journey with Jesus, we will equip them tofind a ministry based upon their strengths. We want everyone to
serve in some capacity. (1 Corinthians 12:12-27) We also want Hischurch to be the living evidence of His love and power to the world.
DiscipleshipWe do not want you to "get religion" here at Fifth Avenue Church ofChrist in Lancaster. We are all about teaching you that Jesus seeks
a daily relationship with Him through a life of obedience. In otherHow Can I Respond Today?

for young elementary readers. You meet
skeptics every day. They ask questions like:
Are your science teachers wrong? Is the Big
Bang theory true? Or did God create the
universe? Heres a book written in kid-friendly
language to give you the answers.
Women of the Old Testament and Women
of the New Testament by Abraham
Kuyper each contain 50 devotional
messages for women. These classic
devotional books give us 50 graphic
