The second envelope this weekend, August 30, 2020 is for the Catholic University and Catholic Schools in our Diocese. Thank you in advance for your generosity.

The annual Diocese of Greensburg Golden Wedding Anniversary Mass is scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 20th at 3 p.m. in Blessed Sacrament Cathedral. This virtual Mass will be streamed live on www.dioceseofgreensburg.org. Nearly 300 couples have registered to participate in the Mass. Those who still wish to register may do so by contacting Becky Bouille at 724-552-2589 or [email protected]. Couples celebrating their Golden Wedding Anniversary may submit up to two photos (one from their wedding and one more current) to www.dioceseofgreensburg.org/goldenmass. Only photos of couples will be accepted and photos cannot include any other family members. Photos should be submitted by Sept. 11.

FROM THE DESK OF FATHER ANTHONY…………………………………………… Begin a commitment to weekly prayer at Eucharistic Adoration! Spend some time with Jesus. Every Tuesday brings an opportunity for Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. On most Tuesdays we gather from 3:00pm until 4:00pm for Exposition, Adoration, and Benediction. On the first Tuesday of the month, we begin Adoration immediately following Mass and close with Benediction at 3:30pm. Come and spend some time with the Lord. You won’t regret it. As you know, our Diocese requires clearances and trainings for all employees and volunteers. Many of our volunteers here at Holy Trinity must renew their clearances, as the Diocese requires renewal every five years. Many have begun and completed the renewals, for which I am grateful. We are currently reviewing our files to make sure that they are up to date. You may be contacted soon about this. If you need assistance in renewing and/or obtaining the clearances, please let us know and we will try to help you. Deacon Mike has an announcement elsewhere in the bulletin regarding this—please be in contact with him if you need help. In addition to this, the Diocese has added one more requirement for employees and volunteers: “All clergy, employees (parish, cemetery, school, and diocesan) and all volunteers are required to complete VIRTUS Re-Certification Training every five years to continue to work or perform ministry in the Diocese. The initial course required for all employees and volunteers was/is ‘Protecting God’s Children Awareness.’ To meet the five-year update requirement there are two additional courses from which to choose, ‘VIRTUS Protecting God’s Children Re-Certification for Adults’ and ‘Keeping the Promise Alive.’ All three courses (the original and the two re-certification courses) are available in the VIRTUS ONLINE SYSTEM.” If you have not yet renewed your certification, please take the time to participate in one of the two courses. Again, if you need assistance, we will be happy to help you. if you have any questions, please let me know. Thank you. If you have any questions about the upcoming year concerning Faith Formation, please let me know. I will be happy to speak with you. Although the formation sessions will be “remote and virtual” through December, we will have some sacramental preparation sessions on site. Details will be available soon.

Thanks to all parishioners who have given of their time after Mass to sanitize the church building and to prepare it for the next use! As you know, we had to guarantee the Diocese that certain protocols would be in place in order to begin the public celebration of Mass again. I appreciate the dedication that has been shown to our parish. The Bishop’s dispensation from Sunday Mass attendance is still in force; however, I encourage one and all to participate at Mass if you are healthy and not at risk. Please note that the physical distancing requirement is still in place and that we are asked to wear masks in church. We have masks available, if you need one. Thank you.

The most important issue in any election is the right to life for all human beings – from the moment of conception to the moment of natural death. Priests for Life, an organization in the United States, assisting God’s People to End Abortion, is promoting education about the pro-life, pro-freedom, pro-family, and pro-God vision of the Gospel and the Church. Members of the organization are urging all pro-life Americans to be in touch with their educational materials about the upcoming election as found at www.ProLifeVote.com. I hope you will take some time to check out the content on this webpage.

GOD THE FATHER OF MERCIES, HAVE MERCY ON US! GOD THE SON, JESUS CHRIST, CRUCIFIED AND RISEN FROM THE DEAD, ASCENDED INTO HEAVEN, HAVE MERCY ON US! GOD THE HOLY SPIRIT, DESCENDING UPON US IN GLORY, HAVE MERCY ON US!

Our parishioner, Anna Benini Thomas, died on Wednesday, April 22, 2020. A memorial Mass will be celebrated for Anna’s intention on Saturday, September 19, 2020, at 10:30AM, here in our parish church. A luncheon will follow at DeNunzio’s at the Latrobe airport. Please RSVP to [email protected] or 724-238-3310 if you are planning to attend the luncheon. Thank you.

Men's Group - That Man is You (Saturday, September 12, 2020 at 6:00 AM in the Atrium)

Men attending will be inspired to be extraordinary husbands, fathers, parishioners, and citizens of our community. We become our best when we live according to our created nature. The program draws from the wisdom of science, our Catholic faith, which consists of Scripture, Tradition, and Magisterial teaching, and the wisdom of the saints. Men will form relationships through this program that can bolster them through life's challenges. It is in "giving that we receive". A little time on a Saturday morning can really pay off. Come and See.

The National LifeChain

The National LifeChain this year will take place on Sunday, October 4, 2020. Please show your support for the sanctity of life by participating in your local LifeChain which will be held on the Ligonier Diamond from 2:00 to 3:00 PM. This is a SILENT, PEACEFUL, PRAYERFUL demonstration during which participants may stand or sit holding one of several approved pro-life signs. There will be plenty of space for social distancing, For more information please contact Terry Kelly at 724-493-4349.
