Mount Maunganui College Junior B has had an outstanding netball season so far. Under a great coaching and management team the girls were able to win their division in round one and have been moved up to division five. The team had their first loss of the season against Aquinas Junior A, 30 - 28. It was a fast paced game, with a lot of skill throughout the mid court. Lucy Mano and Kendal Devlin had a great game in defence creating a lot of turnover, with shooters Anna Smith and Chanelle West capitalising on this with amazing shooting. With some tougher games ahead the team are looking to continue with some awesome results.

Mount Maunganui College U15's continued their dominant run, with a comprehensive 40-7 win over Whakatane High School in Whakatane. Jaydon Gage led from the front once again with Jayden Ihe and Caleb Vanner setting the platform for the backs to attack. Melino Fotu was the best of the backs contributing points through tries and conversions. The 1st XV had a slow start to the game, down 26-0 at half time. Steven Whyte was solid at the back, making a number of try saving tackles and contributing with a couple of line breaks. The boys rallied in the second half to keep John Paul College scoreless, while picking up a try through winger Kauri Thomson. Willy Afu and Kyren Gear were strong with the ball in hand, while Joseph Wallace and Tyzack Rich were busy all game. The final score ended 26-5.

Before the holidays our Senior Girls 1st Xl team played Tauranga Girls College 2nd Xl. It was a tough game with some outstanding goals. The Mount girls had a great win with an end result of 4-2. Having won their division in term two the girls have since been promoted to the first division. In their first game of the term they came up against Trident Girls 1st Xl who were too strong for the Mount team. However the girls never gave up and put on some sound defensive play which was pleasing to see. The team still have to play Otumoetai 1st Xl and Tauranga Girls 1st Xl who make up the other teams in division one. These games will be challenging but will be great experience for the girls.

Mount Milan had a thrilling encounter on Saturday against Otumoetai 1st Xl. From the start both teams played attractive passing football. In the first half both goalies pulled off remarkable saves and Mount Milan took the lead 1-0. Early in the second half both team created changes and Otumoetai equalised. Mount Milan got a deserving goal in the second half and hung on for the victory. It was an entertaining game to watch with no fouls or interruptions. Final score was 2-1 to Mount and goal scorers were Logan Carr and Emilio Son. This week the team will play Tauranga Boys 2nd Xl.

Over the weekend Tayla Dickson and Kate McKay competed in the New Zealand Secondary School Gym Sports Competition. Tayla and Kate both competed in Rhythmic and Artistic events with Tayla competing in the Rhythmic levels 4-6 coming away with a placing of 4th overall and Kate placed 7th overall in the Step 4 Artistic event.
