ZOOM ROOM WEEK 4: I’M HERE, YOU’RE HERE, WE’RE ALL HERE.Some of joys of virtual meetings: You can see who’s there (mostly), and you know who is speaking (but only sometimes), and if two or three people start speaking at the same time, it can be tricky to figure out who needs to go first. Here are a few tips that can help the meeting go smoothly: 1. Identify yourself the first couple of times you speak, especially if you are in a large meeting. Don’t assume ev-
eryone is on a device where they can see you. Just a simple, “Hi, this is ______” before immediately continuing into sharing your thought can eliminate confusion, especially if minutes are being kept.
2. If you are leading a small meeting, starting with a brief roll call can be helpful to ensure that the appropriate people respond to the questions or comments that are most relevant to them.
3. Watch your screen during Zoom meetings and you will often see a “light box” indicating who is speaking, or you may see a camera symbol beside a speaker’s name to help you keep track of who is talking.
4. In the event that two people start talking at once, if you can defer to someone else without losing your train of thought, be quick to do so. It’s an unspoken rule that if you let someone else go first, your turn will come next as it’s understood you’re waiting to share your thought or question.
5. Let your leader lead. It can be easy to get off-topic as visual cues for moving on can get lost in the virtual mix. If the meeting leader tries to steer the meeting on to the next topic, let them. You can always table a side conver-sation until the meeting is over.
Answer this week’s quiz question to be entered into a prize drawing. Winners will be announced in next week’s Zoom Room publication. Please send your answer to [email protected]. Thanks for playing!
Which of the following is the best way to identify yourself during a virtual meeting? 1. Wave vigorously at the camera. 2. “Well, great meeting, everyone. This is Karen, by the way. Peace out!” 3. “This is ______ speaking. I can answer that question…..”4. Wait, was that even in this week’s Zoom Room? Hang on, I gotta read it again…
Congratulations to last week’s winner, Anita Oliver!

The following compliments were received about our T.J. Samson Med/Surg units. YOU ROCK! Keep up the great work!
ALL nurses very nice and understanding of mycondition. I enjoy all of them.
Cleaning staff was courteous & kind.
T.J. Samson saved my life. Floor staff & nurses werewonderful!
The lady who admitted me was very pleasant.
My nurse was way beyond what you wouldexpect. Sitting and discussing tests and differentroutes we could go for the best treatment.
The whole reason I’m doing this survey is because ofthe nurse I had overnight. She was amazing. Patient, kind, informative, thorough and helpful are just a fewattributes that come to mind. She went WAY aboveher duties and put my mind at ease in a very stressfultime. I wish I had more room to finish what I thoughtof her. 7 p.m. shift nurse.
There is a little gal named *Brittany who is a CNA. She was just wonderful. Her bedside manner was outof this world.
Last Friday employees received an email from LaDonna Rogers with instructions on how to order the Hospital Week gift.

Due to a recent increase in COVID cases in the Spanish speaking community, the Marketing Department has dis-tributed materials that cater to this population. These documents have been sent to all locations and can be found at all patient entrances. Documents include the Spanish version of the screening questions we ask to patients when entering the building, a CDC poster in Spanish that includes basics about preventing the spread of COVID, and a packet of documents that provide basic information about COVID including symptoms, how to quarantine, how to protect yourself from COVID and some tips for those that may share close quarters with others.
The packet of documents needs to be given to every Spanish speaking patient upon entrance to the building.
If you would like any of these documents in your area, please contact Mollie Felkins at [email protected].

No visite áreas públicas.
