Course Overview………. Cardiovascular Innovations and Practice Guidelines (CIPG 2020) is a multidisciplinary conference for general cardiologists, endovascular specialists, primary care providers, podiatrists, wound care providers, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, general medicine and cardiovascular nurses, technicians and providers-in-training (fellows, residents, medical students, NP/PA students) jointly sponsored by Midwest Cardiovascular Research Foundation, Genesis Medical Center and the Iowa Chapter of the American College of Cardiology. This symposium is designed to give a comprehensive update in various aspects of cardiovascular diseases including coronary, structural, peripheral, electrophysiology with sections dedicated to women in cardiology, imaging and the CVT team. The invited faculty will provide attendees with practical tips useful in daily practice. All registrants will attend the Scientific Sessions held on Friday, August 21st (8:00 am to 5:00 pm) and Saturday, August 22nd (8:00 am to 12:00 pm) at the Adler Health Education Center, Genesis Heart Institute, 1236 E. Rusholme Street, Davenport, Iowa 52803.

Symposium Format
An invited distinguished faculty will conduct a two-day program that includes didactic, up-to-date information on the current status, and the future direction of cardiovascular medicine. Question & Answer (Q & A) sessions will allow interactive discussions with multiple experts.
Accreditation/CME, CE, and Radiologic Technologists Credit This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the Essential Areas and Policies of the Iowa Medical Society (IMS) through the joint sponsorship of Genesis Medical Center and the Midwest Cardiovascular Research Foundation. Genesis Medical Center is accredited by the IMS to provide continuing medical education for physicians. Genesis Medical Center designates this Live activity for a maximum of 8.0 on 8/21/20 and 3.25 on 8/22/20 AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM. Physicians should claim only credits commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. Nursing: 7.6 contact hours for 8/21/20 and 3.25 contact hours for 8/22/20 awarded by the Iowa Board of Nursing Provider #59, Genesis Medical Center, Davenport, Iowa. This program may be used for 7.6 contact hours on 8/21/20 and 3.25 contact hours on 8/22/20 for ANCC recertification. Nursing IL may use CE certificate for IL license renewal. PT/PTA & OT/COTA: 9.1 contact hours for 8/21/20 and 3.9 contact hours for 8/22/20 by Genesis Medical Center-Silvis Campus, Silvis, IL. All others: You may be eligible for up to 9.1 continuing education hours for 8/21/20 and 3.9 continuing education hours for 8/22/20. Refer to your administra-tive guidelines. CE Credits: Partial credit will not be given. To receive any/all credit you will need to attend the entire program (You will need to attend all day Friday for Friday’s CE Credits. You will need to attend all day Saturday for Saturday’s CE Credits—separate credits for each day.)

Learning Objectives
CIPG 2020 scientific sessions will provide attendees with the opportunity to learn about many new aspects of interventional and general cardiology. Upon completion of this course, participants should be able to: CIPG 2020 Objectives for August 21, 2020 Describe the specific expertise required in structural heart disease imaging . Define the importance of high quality imaging in echocardiography. Discuss guidelines in managing patients with SIHD and the ISCHEMIA trial. Review how new diabetic drugs (SGLT2 inhibitors and GLP1 agonists) are now cardiovascular drugs. Review the burden and management of critical limb ischemia. Discuss STEMI guidelines and emerging therapies. Review pharmacologic management of the peripheral arterial disease patient. Review endovascular therapies of critical limb ischemia. Discuss the role of MRI in identifying cardiomyopathies. Discuss drug coated balloons and mortality risk. Outline quality interventions that improve echocardiography imaging. Review how to differentiate between supraventricular arrhythmias. Review guidelines on when to place ICDs and biventricular pacers. Review DOACs in the management of atrial fibrillation. Review how the integration of anatomy and physiology can impact patient care in the cath lab.
CIPG 2020 Objectives for August 22, 2020 Review current literature of COVID-1i and its effects on patients with cardiovascular disease. Identify cardiovascular supplements available to patients and indications for use. Identify the risks and benefits of medical management versus PCI in patients with a known CTO. Discuss how to evaluate a patient presenting with dyspnea on exertion.

REGISTRATION FEE
Registration fee is waived for all attendees. MCRF as a non-profit organization is proud to support this conference by contributing to the education of the health care team in our community. Attendees can register for one day or both days. Registration is on a first come, first serve basis. If we exceed the seating limit, a waiting list will be created. If you plan to attend both days, please register for “both” and if attending “one” day register for that day only.
MCRF will be limiting attendance at 100 participants this year. COVID-19: Face masks will be required for all attendees due to COVID-19 along with “social distancing”.
We expect all those who register to attend and be considerate to others.

Abstracts and Interesting Cases You are invited to submit your abstracts and interesting cases to CIPG 2020. Abstracts will be orally presented from 11:00 am to 12:00 am on Saturday morning (A maximum of 4 abstracts will be chosen for presentation, each 10 minutes followed by 5 minutes discussion). Submit all abstracts to: Nicolas Shammas, 1622 E Lombard Street, Davenport, IA 52803 or email to [email protected]. All authors will be notified by email about the acceptance of their abstracts for an oral presentation. Deadline for abstract submission is July 30th at 11 pm. Notifica-tion of acceptance or rejection will be done first week of August. There will be no poster boards. Selected posters will receive an award certificate.
PARKING….
Participants may not park in the parking lot (garage) between the Heart Institute and the Medical office buildings as that is reserved for patients. Participants may use the north lot behind the Edgerton's Women's Health Center.
