Konold Dear Parishioners, I am grateful to all those who have made a commitment to our adoration chapel which officially "opens" tomorrow. We are still in need of adorers. If you have yet to make a commitment, please do so! For those unsure of a weekly commitment, perhaps you would consider teaming up with a family member or friend to take turns filling the time slot. We have a particular need mid-night, mid-day, and weekends. You can register by visiting the parish website and scrolling down to parish news. Members of our parish choirs will be providing the music at two upcoming Masses for Shut-Ins, which air at 10:30am on WDCW Channel 50, Sunday Mornings. The Masses, which were recorded in the Crypt Church at the Ba- silica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, will air on Sun- day, August 28th, and Sunday, September 11th. Congratulations to our music ministers! We look forward to hearing -- and hopefully seeing -- you on television. I have gotten a lot of positive feedback on the FORMED website. If you have not yet visited the site, be sure to do so at www.formed.org, for some great Catholic resources and movies. The subscription can be accessed by all Saint Theresa parishioners by using the password C2YY4F. (Please note that by agreement with "FORMED," access to this subscription is intended for Saint Theresa Parishioners only.) Finally, soon school will be back in session. A number of our college "kids" are heading back to school this week -- or already have done so. Be as- sured of our prayers and blessings as you start a new phase of your lives! The Consecration to Merciful Love Consecration to Divine Mercy is a beautiful exer-cise to increase your spirit-uality and ability to truly serve our Lord Jesus Christ. Consecration con-sists of a 33-day period of prayerful preparation fol-lowed by the actual Act of Consecra-tion itself. The daily meditations and prayers take approximately 15 minutes per day.

Please sign up after Mass this week-end at the table in the Narthex. Mem-bers of the Legion of Mary will be on hand to answer your questions. Then join us on Saturday, August 27th at 9am, right after the 8am Mass to watch a video and for an overview on the consecration on the Consecra-tion to Merciful Love and to enjoy the first of five weekly meetings with re-flection and prayers for preparation. English as a Second Language

Saint Theresa is now offering English as a Second Language (ESL) classes. Are you interested in improving your English? Improving your English could help you in your daily life or give you the ability to help with your child's homework or talk to their teacher. Two classes in ESL will now be available beginning this fall at Saint Theresa. Both classes are led by a certified ESL instructor and are free. A Monday morning class will begin September 12 from 10am - Noon and the same class will also be offered on Tuesday evenings from 7 – 9pm begin-ning on September 13. If interested in registering for either of these classes, contact Crystal Jordan at [email protected] Regis-tration is open now. If teaching ESL is something you are interested in volun-teering to help with, please contact Crystal Jordan at this email as well.

Baby Bottle Campaign

Our sincerest thanks to everyone who made a donation and returned your baby bottles! Mosaic pregnancy cen-ter uses these bottles for fundraising at other churches as well, and we still have over 300 that haven't been re-turned. If you still have one, could you please return it to the basket in the back of church (even if the bottle is empty, it would help Mosaic to have it back). Thank you!

Parish Happenings

Altar Server Corner Chalice The chalice is the most sacred of all the vessels. It is the cup that holds the wine for consecration and after it holds the precious blood of Christ. It should be made of precious met-als. It represents the chalice in which Our Lord, at the last Supper, first offered His blood. It symbolizes

the chalice of the Passion. The chal-ices used at Saint Theresa are in dif-ferent styles – Fr. Guest uses a gothic style chal-ice; Fr. Thomas uses a Carolingian style chalice; Fr. Jim uses a ba-roque style chalice.

Opportunities to Help

Masses for the Week

FOCUS (Fellowship of Catholic University Students) is the largest Catholic col-lege outreach program in the USA today that sends missionaries to 127 college campuses throughout the na-tion to build Christ-centered friend-ships, bible studies, retreats, and one-on-one mentorships. We lose many Catholics during their college years so our mission is to win them over for the Lord as well as build up the fu-ture leaders of our Church.

Our need: FOCUS, much like the Catholic Church, operates completely on the financial support of others, but unlike traditional parishes, we don't have parishioners who can financially

contribute to our mission because our parishioners are students. For this reason, each missionary seeks both spiritual and financial monthly mis-sion partners to be able to fulfill the Great Commission.
