August 2020 Friendship Express www.arncliffew-p.schools.nsw.edu.au Spring has sprung Our creative collaborations in music and drama have kept the creative juices flowing during this time when we are very restricted due to COVID. Last week we had our new marching drum delivered much to the delight of students who were very eager to have a turn. Currently we are not dancing or singing in large groups so the drum has been a hit. The famous Mongolian throat singer, Bukhu, has now confirmed he will be coming to perform for us on the 17.09.2020. Unfortunately, due to the current restrictions around having parents on site, this will be an internal event for students only. Apart from all our music and drama activities, we have had Chief Paul back doing Yoga with the students. A reminder that we have school photos coming up on the Wednesday 02.09.2020 and Thursday 10.02.2020. Please ensure your child is wearing their uniform for their photo day. Walking safely to school is on Friday 11.09.2020. We encourage students to walk all or part of the way to school on this day. Semester 1 reports have now been sent home. Teachers will be available for interviews on Zoom or by telephone. Please contact your childs teacher via email to arrange a suitable time. After consulting with parent focus groups, we have decided to allow parents on site at afternoon pick up due to the danger from the traffic on Loftus St. We are very appreciative of those parents who are wearing face masks whilst on site. The school gates are locked between 10am and 3:20pm. Please phone ahead if you need to come to the office. There is now an intercom on the carpark gate to contact the office if you need to come on site during school hours. Please only come to the site if your business is essential. We are starting to plan our transition program for our 2021 Kindergarten stu- dents. Hopefully Transition will run in term 4 from 19.10.20 to 29.10.20. If you havent already enrolled your child for 2021 please see page 15 for details. If you have already enrolled, you will be contacted soon to make arrangements. Transition will only proceed on site if COVID restrictions ease next term. This has been a very tough winter given all the stress in our community. Hopefully the warmer weather will lift everyones spirits. Please be assured that our priority is always our students and that they are having fun and learning lots despite the chaos in the world around us. The staff would like to say thank you for the support you have given us during a very uncertain time. Vanda Quinn Principal Term 3 ends: Friday 25.09.2020 Term 4 begins: Monday 12.10.2020
