August 2019 PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE July is always vacation time for many of us. We are either out of town or getting ready to make a trip somewhere. Your board has been working on the Articles, Bylaws and Club Rules this month. It looks like we will have everything ready for the August meeting. You should receive them before the meeting and which should give you time to read all three documents. I do not plan to read each document or explain them to the membership. I will cover a few of the major changes. If you have questions be prepared to come up to the front of the meeting and use the microphone so the whole club can hear your questions. If I or other members of the board cannot answer your questions, I will ask you to submit the questions in writing and I will forward them to the attorney for explanation. The Articles, Bylaws and Club Rules all have to be voted on and approved. We plan to have this ballot vote at the September meeting. We are still in need of a STREAK Chairperson. This person needs to be in place before we can start having our monthly STREAK meetings. Please consider stepping up. I have contacted most of the key people and all have said they would help again. All the Chairperson would need to do is steer the ship. Be sure to read the BIO in this month’s Cruise News, it is very interesting and will make you grin. Enjoy your summer!! See you at the meeting!!! Joe

STREAK 46 AFTER-PARTY

The After-Party for STREAK 46 was held on Saturday, June 22nd at Pernicano’s Family Restaurant in El Cajon. The weather was perfect and by 11:00 AM the parking lot was full of hot rods and the restaurant was filled with 75 hungry Over the Hill Gang members. We started with a 45 minute social time and then lunch was served. The menu included spaghetti, ravioli, lasagna, antipasto salad and all the non-alcoholic beverages desired. Gary Pernicano and his very friendly staff did a great job of serving the crowd and it appeared that everyone got plenty to eat. After lunch we held a short meeting to discuss the outcome of STREAK 46 including the fact that over $16,000 was raised to give to our charities. STREAK 46 Committee members Curtis & Marie Morrow and Suzanne Stephens were recognized for their exceptional efforts for this year’s STREAK and their loyal service over the past years. I expressed my sincere appreciation to all the folks present and absent who have worked so hard to make STREAK 46 the huge success it was. After a little more discussion the meeting ended and we all reluctantly headed for the parking lot. So the last major event of STREAK 46 ended on a very positive note, and for those of you that couldn’t be there I think you missed a good time. Make sure you’re there for next year’s gig!

Bill Hogue, Chairman OTHG STREAK 46

BIO OF A CLUB MEMBER August 2019

WHO: Sally Rae Bartz WHAT YOU KNOW: Sally and Tony joined OTHG SD in August 1991 with a Chevy Panel Truck. OOPS! After they became members, they realized that the Panel was a 1950. So they sold the Panel and purchased a 1948 Chevy 2 door Sedan. Sally has been Club Secretary and Streak Registration Chairperson for many, many years. She has also been Newsletter Editor for many years and still is. WHAT YOU MIGHT KNOW: Sally was born in Mercy Hospital. Her father was in the military and they lived all over the world. She graduated from Chula Vista High. When Sally graduated, Tony was in third grade. What a cougar!! After working at Woodward Sand for several years telling men where to go (dispatcher), they were married. They have been married for over 40 years and raised two sons and now have 3 grandkids and 4 great-grandkids. They have enjoyed many years of motorhome camping, and love doing car shows. SOMETHING YOU MIGHT NOT KNOW: At the Fiesta de la Luna in Chula Vista, she won a beauty contest and went on to beat out Rachael Welch for Miss Chula Vista representing the American Legion. For those of you who are unaware, Sally is probably the largest Mickey Mouse fan with rooms in her home dedicated to him. Tony says he is married to the most beautiful woman he knows.
