Dear Friend,

“We will have no truce or parley with you or the grisly gang who work your wicked will. You do your worst—and we will do our best!”

Winston Churchill’s stately British voice crackled through the radio. I was 7 years old when I sat alongside my parents in 1941, listening to that great leader summon courage, character, and commitment with a fervor few have matched. I’ll never forget his immortal words nor the fear that coursed through me as my father said, “Well, at least we’re not alone.”

A few months later, Churchill proclaimed to the boys at Harrow School:

“These are not dark days; they are great days . . . And we must all thank God that we have been allowed, each of us according to our stations, to play a part . . .”

Seventy-five years have passed since troops finally stormed that beach at Normandy. Yet we’re still in the thick of hard times, aren’t we? Oh, the war is different. The United States is fighting an enemy named terror rather than a man and his regime. But at the root, it’s the same fight believers have been fighting since biblical times, one each of us faces every day: the war against evil.

But we can give thanks! Without trials, we would never develop character—the moral, ethical, and spiritual undergirding that rests on truth, reinforces a life in stressful times, and resists all temptations to compromise or surrender. Character gives us the determination to be never-surrender Christians.

I’m going to be painfully honest we are lean and it would not take much for us to be faced with raising the white flag. As we face the challenge of receiving enough funds to keep the doors open. Our need for your donation is urgent.

I promise you: we will never surrender! We are committed to being here for you, no matter what, equipping you and others like you to be strong and determined men and women of biblical character in these hard days.

But this is a battle we cannot win alone. Thankfully, you are standing with us.Will you stand strong alongside us by sending the most generous gift you can afford to Insight for Living Australia? Please do so today! Don’t wait. We need your support right now.

As believers committed to the cause of Christ, we are facing this challenge together. Let’s turn these dark days into our greatest days.Let Satan do his worst—as we do our best!

Remaining steadfast and immovablewith you in Christ,

Charles R. Swindoll
