It is your special day and sometmes plan-ning can be problematic. With the rise of media access to current trends such as Pinterest, fi nding good information about what is actually a trend can be diffi cult.

The 2014/2015 wedding season was all mason jars, eclectic vintage and rustic chic with a traditional twist. Weddings were stacked with hints of metallic, peonies, lace and wild fl owers in tiny lit-tle bunches. But what will the new season bring?

The 2015/2016 wedding trends and styles will move away from the rustic and tradi-tional, moving into a natural organic feel with edgy pops of colour. Hints of mint, hues of blues like cobalt and even some grey un-dertones with accents of yellow is on the rise.

(from page 2) Less is more when it comes to decisions for next season’s events. This means less shabby, but more actual chic that is a whole lot more simplistic and sophisticated. Details are still important and el-evated with a personal touch, but the reception has a fun and relaxed vibe.

A big trend for this season is a multicolour palett e. Instead of picking just one colour, go for a colour combination. If you are going for something natural and organic, add pops of colour to make your wed-ding unique.

Your wedding pivots around your wedding col-ours. Choose 2-3 primary colours and 1-2 accent colors to set the mood, unveil your style and reveal the season.

TechnologyHeart-rate monitors for your walk down the aisle, driver-less cars and 3-D printed desserts are just some of the tech trends you can expect to see in weddings this year. Whether you are into technol-ogy or not, using some of the new apps available can make your plan-ning a lot easier. Some of these apps include Taskrabbit, Tour-istEye and Uber. (More about tech-nology on page 6)

With all the options available right now, captur-ing your special day is worth considering an invest-ment. With aerial photography, cinematography and go-pros, you can now capture memories like never before.

When it comes to wedding skincare and beauty prep, there’s no such thing as start-ing too soon! We asked Adele Wij ma, a skin specialist and owner of Adele’s Beauty Salon in Tzaneen, for her advice on how to get your skin clear and luminous for the big day. Here are her top tips:1. Plan your budget for your skin care and body care 9-12 months before your wedding day. 2. Consult with your skincare specialist and express any concerns and questions you have about your skin.3. The therapist will suggest the following depend-ing on your skin and your needs:* Chemical peels: smoother texture, soft en fi ne, stimulating cell growth, pigmentation.* Micro needling: improves sun damage, uneven skin texture, restore volume, elasticity.* Non surgical luxury face lift : lift of the cheeks, jew-els and eyelids. Stimulates collagen and elastin.* Dr Gys du Plessis for your bigger problems: Botox and derma fi llers. Add volume to your lips. Botox reduce muscle movement, preventing future wrin-kles. 4. One week before your wedding plan your wax-ing, tints, facial, manicure and pedicure, gelish or bio-sculpture, brow shape, self tan spay, luscious lashes lash extensions) 5. Body treatments that will give you that bride glow we all want:* Kalahari full body exfoliation with salt or red des-sert sand giving you the glow all over.

* Back massage or full body massage for the wed-ding stress.

Nothing is more horrifying in the midst wedding planning than an acne breakout. It’s tempting to

try and kick your skincare routine into over-drive before you walk down the aisle, but don’t start scrubbing and slathering just yet. It is always best to consult with your beauti-cian fi rst. Come and refresh and unwind with a cus-

tomise treatment at Adele’s beauty and slim-ming clinic.

Your best friend is gett ing married soon and you are throwing her the perfect bachelorett e party. It is tra-ditional for the bride to have one last bash with her friends and as we all know, much can go wrong at these litt le shindigs. This will be a night to remem-ber and to honour this tradition, here is a list of do’s and don’ts to ensure that your bachelorett e party is a night that your bride would enjoy.

Do’s:Do make sure that you are indeed the one planning this occasion.Do consider all your options. Find out what the bride wants, her taste and preference. Not everyone likes to end up in a pub collecting coins.Do make sure that everyone invited to the bachelor-ett e party is indeed invited to the wedding. Ask the bride for input regarding your guest list and don’t forget the soon-to-be in-laws. Do have a game plan. Add some fun activities and games that will help bring the focus on the soon-to-be bride.Do share the bill. Ask all the guests to contribute to the fi nances.

Don’ts:Don’t ignore the bride’s requests. Keep in mind

that this is her bachelorett e party. If she doesn’t like dancing all night, don’t take her to a club. If she is not into strippers, don’t spoil her night with a half naked guy making her uncomfortable. Don’t drink heavily at the beginning of the night and make sure that everyone has something to eat.Don’t force the bride and guests to take part in any activity or game. If they feel uncomfortable, let them be!Don’t be selfi sh! Ask other guests invited to help with the planning. This is not about you.Don’t forget that this is about the bride. Make her feel special and give her wonderful memories that she will cherish for the rest of her life.

Make this a fun time because that is what it is supposed to be! Put on your bling, dress up, put on that smile and give the bride a night to remember!

Using practical tech-nology to make your wedding even more memorable just makes sense. So just what can technology do for you? Planning your

wedding:Online wedding plan-

ning used to be website driven. Today many

wedding planning apps exist for Android and iPhone. Your options start from simple list man-agement apps to extensive apps that can even manage your budget! As always you should

shop around and read some reviews before decid-ing on the app that is just right for you. The big day itself:

Offi cial and unoffi cial photographers and video-graphers is nothing new. How technology can be used does not have to stop there though. Wearable tech can include a GoPro Bridal Bouquet, technol-ogy that keeps the video camera centred on the wearer, etc. GPS tracking apps can keep a track of the movements of the bride and groom all day long.

Drones can be used to capture incredibly cool video and pictures.

Using Twitt er pre-select #yourwedding-hashtag and ask every-body to tag their posts and you won’t miss a single photo or video. Live-streaming the big day enables family and friends that can’t be there to still be a part of your big day. Some planning and a good videographer will be needed to bring it all to-gether, but the net result should make this worthwhile!

Waar pas hy in?

Hierdie is ‘n

degom is verby. Mans is deesdae

Wedding pictures are a cherished keepsake and is the only commemoration of the many hours spent on planning one of the most important days of your life. You have only that one day; and your photo-grapher can either give you gorgeous images that you will cherish for the rest of your life, or you will receive images that will not resemble your big day at all. Your wedding album should instantly take you back to your special day and become your favourite coff ee table book.

There is no secret formula or one photographer who fi ts every couple. What separates the good from the bad is in the eye of the beholder; aft er all, art is subjective. Just make sure you feel great about the person you hire and see a distinction in his/her work. Give careful consideration to your photogra-phy budget and invest as much as you can into that part of your wedding.

In the end, you can’t aff ord to be disappointed when the curtains close on your wedding day.

We caught up with well-known wedding photo-grapher Louise Meyer from Hoedspruit, to give our readers some advice on how to identify a good pho-tographer who will translate your experience and memories into images.

• Where do you start your search for a photogra-pher?

“Word of Mouth” is a very reliable source and of course the internet is the main source of informa-tion these days. It is very important to do a thorough search to ensure that you choose the right photo-grapher. Your photographer is the person that will be by your side the whole day. You need to be com-fortable with the photographer as a person and con-fi dant that he or she will capture your most precious memories.

• How far in advance do you book a photographer?Your venue and your photographer should be your

fi rst two priorities. If you have a few photographers in mind who’s style of photography you like, you have to do your homework and book them at least 6-12 months before the wedding

• Is it necessary to set up appointments with a few photographers?

It is of utmost importance to do that! You have to be able to connect with your photographer and feel comfortable with him/her!

What type of questions do I need to ask when meeting with a photographer?

By the time you meet a potential photographer you must be fully aware of his/her style of work. The following matt ers are usually discussed when I meet

potential clients:1. Clarity about the diff erent packages that are avail-able. The client must be 100% clear on what to ex-pect. For example, the hours that the photographer will cover2. The time span of the wedding must be discussed in detail.3. The client must inform the photographer of any spesifi c photos that should be taken.4. The most important is to complete a contract that will cover all the detail!

• What common mistakes do people make when it comes to the budget set aside for their photo-graphy?

It is very unfortunate that there are many photo-graphers out there without the expereince or right equipment, charging rediculously low rates for their time and work. A few good photos are shown to clients and they are made to believe that that is the quality they can expect. It is very diffi cult to give a guideline since photographers’ rates vary and can be anything from R5 000 to R50 000! Keep in mind that your wedding photos are the only visual memories you wil have to treasure and it can’t be redone. My recommendation: rather budget liberally and not conservatively for you photography!

• There are so many photographers out there, how does one separate the good ones from the not-so- good ones?

Do your homework! Look at experience, equipment that the photographer is using and follow their blogs.

• How important is the connection between the couple and the photographer?

Extremely important! You have to feel 100% com-fortable with your photographer. The more comfort-able you are with your photographer, the greater the possibilities for him/her to capture the true essence of your day!

• What should one be looking for when looking at a photographer’s portfolio?

Never just rely on a photographer’s portofl io as evi-dence of his/her work. A good photographer should have a blog that you can follow. Aft er each wedding a good (professional) photographer compiles a blog post with several photos of that spesifi c wedding.

• Is there any other advice that you can give the cou-ples out there looking for a photographer?

Do your homework, follow the work (blogs) of a few photographers who you like, meet up with them to see if you can coneect and then make a fi nal decision!
