Aloha I would like to start with the opening lines from the editorial of feeds (August, 2012) “On behalf of Team Feeds, I would like to extend a warm welcome to all our � rst year students. In the span of a month it would have been evident that our college holds scores of surprises. Unschedules power cuts, water shortage, cows and dogs in addition to umpteen more glitches adorn a typical day... Rome was not built in a day. � e need of the hour is a joint cooperative e� ort to root out the problems and arrive at solutions.” - Ahamed Rashmi, Editor (2012) � at pretty much sums up how our college was a couple of years ago. � e college has undergone tremendous change in a short period of four years. � e run up to the Golden Jubilee saw a metamorphosis in the various aspects of our institute. As Ahamed wished, a joint cooperative e� ort has successfully rooting out the major problems that plagued this instutute. But this has happened so suddenly that we tend to forget how it was a mere four years ago. � e freshers of this institute will not have a chance to know the drastic improvements that the college has made in order to really become one of the premier institutes in the country. Being oblivious about all the people who were involved in this is the only mistake that we could commit. � anks to everyone who worked silently to make this . To the freshers who have just joined the institute, you would see a stark contrast between school and here. Schools were never this big and didn’t have such varied fauna. You weren’t awake till late night preparing for exams. You had people to wake you up every morning. Life was just about what you studied and everyone you met were people you knew. Well, not any more. Welcome to NIT-T; a place which will teach you more than just how to study and get good grades. In fact, it won’t teach you that. You will have to learn it by yourself. But it is worth all that. � is is the place where people pick up their interests and go on to pursue it. � e opportunities presented here makes everyone believe that life isn’t just about studying. � ere is going to be no one to monitor your performance; just your friends maybe. No one to ask if you studied everyday. We begin to realize that for once that our lives are actually in our hands and that thought is a little scary. You become what you do in the next four years. You will soon � nd out that you will have a lot of free time and know now what to do. Here are two lines from ‘If ’ by Rudyard Kipling which capture the essence of what you should be doing these four years.“If you can � ll the unforgiving minuteWith sixty seconds worth of distance run,Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it,And - which is more- you’ll be a Man, my son!”All the best!
