President’s Message
Here it is August already. The summer has certainly gone by fast. I hope that you
got to do some prospecting and found some gold. Be ready to tell the club about
your adventures, good and bad.
As you probably know, we can no longer meet at the airport. For the next two
months, August and September, we will be meeting at Fort Buenaventura. For
August we will be at the group area, right after you cross the bridge. It is right
next to the river, which will be nice. Be sure to bring your metal detectors. We
plan to have some things scattered around that you can look for. You get to keep
all that you find. But no digging in the grass. You do not have to pay for parking,
the club will pay that.
The Boise news reports that there are at least three fires burning around the area
that our claims are in. The road to Pine and Featherville is closed. The fire is
burning real close to the old mining settlement of Rocky Bar, which is the same
canyon that NUPA 1 & 2 are in. There is another fire around Garden Valley and
the Crouch Creek area and one by Stanley. Be sure to find out where you can go
before starting out. I would hate to have you make that long drive, just to be sent
back home.
We are still looking for a place to hold our regular meetings. At one place, we
would have to change our meeting nights to Wednesday. Would that be a possi-
bility? Think about it.
Be safe and have fun. See you on the 28th .
Sandy
Help us find a new home
The airport no longer is available for meetings and we need a new location.
The new home ideally….would let us hold raffles, let us meet on Tuesdays, have
tables, chairs and room for up to 60 members or so, be centrally located to
Ogden…...AND be affordable.
Contact any board member if you have a suggestion.
August and September general meetings will be held at
Ft. Buenaventura State Park.
