put your best foot forward! Liberty has two new tools available to help you project the right image and provide valuable Company information to potential recruits and new Agents.
Recruiting Card: The Recruiting Card (N-3712) is a bifold format and measures approximately 4” x 4”. The center spread includes the Company mission statement and information on Liberty’s unlimited opportunities, compensation, benefits, training, support, and vital statistics on our Company stability. There is even a slot for your business card.
Recruiting Folder: The Recruiting Folder (R-3753) is standard folder size (approximately 9” x 11”) with two inside pockets and is a great tool for potential and new recruits to keep track of materials. Use it for handouts, product brochures, applications, etc., anything you want to present to a new Agent or recruit.
Branch Managers may order these new tools with their monthly supply order and charge them to their lead account. Contact [email protected] with questions.

Measuring Up to SuccessWe celebrated yet another year for Liberty National at this year’s annual Convention in Las Vegas! We acknowledged the hard work of our most successful Agents, Unit Managers, and Branch Managers over four days at Caesars Palace. Every year Torch Club attendees at Convention make me proud to be part of such dedicated and hardworking people, and this year was no exception.
I thank all of you for your efforts, and I urge you now to direct your sights to next year’s Convention at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic. Now is the time to heighten your efforts to achieve the success you know is possible. Whether you’re a veteran Torch Club qualifier or aiming for your first Convention, a lot of consistent, hard work is required to get you to Convention 2012, so make sure you get on track now!
When you have the commitment to make it to Convention, Liberty National always has the resources you need to get there, including Brainshark trainings, Marketplace Bulletins, Laptop Sales Presentations, and the Agent Services website (to name a few).
Key Performance Indicators Dashboard As we strive to continuously add to our list of tools for success, Liberty National is excited to announce a new Key Performance Indicators (KPI) dashboard that will soon be implemented in QlikView, Liberty’s new reporting system that provides production information on Agents, Unit Managers, and Branch Managers. The KPI dashboard is created to help Branches keep track of how they are doing relative to the Company’s expectations, by identifying what areas in sales and recruiting need improvement in the Branch.
Production reports and analysis are extremely beneficial to Branch Managers, providing them with the information they need about their Branch to make sure it runs successfully. KPI is an additional improvement in the way production information is presented and interpreted. Rather than sifting through report after report, Branch Managers now have up-to-date data stored in one convenient location, helping them identify specific challenges in their Branch so they can rectify them quickly.
14 Key Metrics Reporting and review are essential for anyone to succeed in business. Even the most committed and talented individuals require feedback to improve their performance; for Agents, Unit Managers, and Branch Managers, it is no different.
KPI is based on 14 Key Metrics that evaluate different areas of Branch activity and indicate areas that are sufficient and areas that are inadequate. For example, if a Branch’s recruiting efforts are lacking and only one new Permanently Licensed (PL) Agent is hired in a month, the KPI dashboard indicates this is far below what is expected, and subsequently, should be addressed by the Branch Manager. Likewise, if the Branch’s month-to-month sales are more than $10,000 with at least a 25 percent increase (whichever is greater), KPI indicates this may not be an area that requires corrective action.
Metrics that evaluate Branch activity are:
1. Recruiting and Lead Management System It is important to access RMS and LMS daily to maintain the right number of recruits and leads to keep up production.
2. Number of Agents Paid/Enrolled in School A Branch should maintain 25 ‘paid in school’ recruits within a rolling two-week period; recruiting should always be a top priority for Branch and Unit Managers!
3. Number of PL Agents Branches should consistently appoint at least 10 new permanently licensed Agents per month.
4. Number of Sponsorships (Referrals) Agents should leave each sales call with 10 to 20 sponsorships (total of 150 weekly) to ensure their sales activity and production are never lacking.
5. Number of Sponsors (Contacts) Without an adequate number of sponsorships, sales begin to lag. Agents should ask 20 contacted prospects for sponsorships each day.
6. $3,000 ADP Net Issued (Interviews) The $3,000 Accidental Death Policy introductory offer is a great (and easy) way to measure presentations, to sell other Liberty products, and gain sponsorships. Branches should have a minimum of 15 ADPs issued per Agent each week.
7. Unassigned Leads KPI measures the number of leads not accessed or assigned. Branches should pursue every available lead.
8. Lead Account If the Lead Account balance is high and leads are lacking, it’s time to use the Lead Account to purchase more leads to provide viable sales opportunities for Agents.

9. New Approved Worksites A Branch should consistently secure new worksite businesses approved each week using Two-Step Worksite Marketing to keep production steady.
10. Mix of Business An Agent should aim for an even distribution of worksite and individual business in order to stay on bonus.
11. Number of First-Time 40 Percent Bonus Earners Good training and supervision can help new Agents reach 40 percent bonus for the first time. Attaining the first-time 40 percent bonus is beneficial to the Agent and the Branch. Every Branch Manager should strive for a minimum of three per month.
12. Number of First-Time 40 Percent Bonus Earners with $7,500 AP Branch Managers are more likely to retain Agents who reach (and stay on) bonus with higher AP and commissions. Good P.E.S.O.S.* training is essential to achieve this! Again, each Branch Manager should strive for three per month.
13. Minimum Standards Averages KPI indicates if, and by how much, the four-week average is greater than the 13-week average production. All Branches, Unit Managers, and Agents should aim for consistent and continuous improvement, which will always increase incomes.
14. Average Improvement KPI measures the amount the four-week average is over or under a $10,000 or 25 percent increase (whichever is greater). Again, consistent improvement in production is essential.
As you can see, the KPI dashboard takes a standard production report to the next level by incorporating various measurements of Branch activity into one inclusive report. KPI helps take the guesswork out of implementing an improvement plan, because Branch Managers now have more insight into the specific issues that need to be addressed to improve their Branch’s overall production.
Directors can also take advantage of the KPI dashboard by comparing Branches within their region. This broader view of their Branches helps them discern which Branches need help and which Branches are succeeding in certain areas. Directors can then assist their Branch Managers in taking steps to improve or correct issues as needed.
A Future of Success I’m excited to see the positive results KPI will bring to each Branch. With a wide range of reports and current information, KPI provides Branch Managers and Directors with the information they need to make their Branches successful. I want each Branch to take advantage of this invaluable tool – it could make a huge difference!

WE arE # 1... again!!There’s an old saying that ‘Lightning never strikes twice in the same place’. Well, don’t tell that to Jason Everett and his talented team in Branch 170, because they will prove you wrong. Both Jason and his team were #1 in 2009, and they did it again in 2010! Says Jason, “It is hard to believe that our team has been blessed the last two years as the #1 office in growth. It is like Christmas to watch everyone’s eyes as they are called on stage to be recognized. As long as I live, I will never forget the people who have worked so hard and driven so many miles to get us to the #1 spot. I am a blessed Manager to work with so many great people!” Our #1 Branch Manager and Torch Club Chairman has been a standout since he started with United American in June of 2003. Jason became a Unit Manager in December that year and in January 2007 was promoted to Branch Manager. His Branch converted to Liberty National in November 2008, and he has been on a roll ever since.
Jason was a member of United American’s President’s Club four times and its Rookie Branch Manager in 2007, and his success has continued at Liberty National. He finished 2010 as the leader in premium growth with $1,138,847. He had $1.6 million in total production and more than $1.3 million in First Year Agent issue. He has a 92 percent persistency rate and 2.5 Torch Clubs to his credit.
Jason’s Branch has been a consistent leader in the worksite market, and Jason and his team continually work to help other Branches achieve success as well. If Branch 170 can do it, others can too!
Jason’s drive and determination have strongly contributed to his success. But just as important has been his desire for others to achieve that same kind of success. Jason is living proof that ‘nice guys definitely don’t finish last’!
Congratulations Jason and Branch 170! Will you do it again next year??

A Tradition of Excellence
It All Started with One Guitar! The Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic is a fantastic facility that offers an amazing variety of sights and sounds to stimulate your senses. Its beginnings, however, were a bit more subdued. Before we visit this mind-blowing hot spot for Convention 2012, take a quick look at what it is and how it got there.
The Hard Rock Cafe is a chain of theme restaurants founded in 1971 in London by two Americans, Peter Morton and Isaac Tigrett. The cafe originally had an eclectic decor, but when British blues giant, Eric Clapton, suggested the owners reserve his preferred table with a plaque, cofounder, Isaac Tigrett, suggested Clapton’s red Fender Lead II guitar instead. Shortly after, not wanting to be outdone, Peter Townshend of The Who, donated one of his guitars with a note, “Mine’s as good as his!” Love, Pete. In 1979, the cafe began covering its wall with rock ‘n roll memorabilia, and as the saying goes, “The rest is history.”
Did you Know?
• Hard Rock expansion began in 1982 to locations around the globe such as Toronto, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, Paris, and Berlin, and continues today.
• Cafe locations solicit donations and also purchase items at auction. Items include clothing, documents, instruments, posters, art, photos, vehicles, etc. Memorabilia ranges from a lock of hair to a five-ton psychedelic bus, numbers 70,000 plus items, and is still growing.
• There are currently 150 Hard Rock locations in 53 countries.
• The largest Hard Rock is in Orlando and hosts more rock ‘n roll memorabilia than any other location.
• Among the talent represented are: The Beatles, James Brown, Bob Dylan, Guns N’ Roses, Jimi Hendrix, Buddy Holly, John Lennon, Madonna, Motley Crue, Elvis Presley, Queen, the Rolling Stones, and The Who.
• Over the past forty years, the Hard Rock has been bought and sold by numerous groups and investment companies, and in 2006, the Hard Rock business was sold to the Seminole Tribe of Florida for $965 million. The transaction included 124 Hard Rock Cafes, four Hard Rock Hotels, two Hard Rock Hotels & Casinos, two ‘Hard Rock Live!’ concert venues, and stakes in three unbranded hotels. The deal did not include the Hard Rock Casino in London or the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.

Life Insurance Awareness Month ... a Slam Dunk in 2011September is Life Insurance Awareness Month. The annual promotion, coordinated by the nonprofit LIFE Foundation, is designed to promote the importance of life insurance to both the general public and life insurance producers. Each year, a well-known personality, who has personally benefited from life insurance, is selected as spokesperson for the event.
This year’s representative is Lamar Odom, forward for the Los Angeles Lakers and two-time NBA champion. Lamar learned the importance of life insurance at the age of 12 when his mother passed away from colon cancer. Because of her life insurance policy, Lamar was able to continue his private-school education. This contributed to his sense of stability during a time of tremendous personal upheaval and had a positive impact on his future emotional and athletic development. After high school, Lamar was able to attend college without the pressure of having to earn money to help support his grandmother, who cared for him. He was able to develop his talent on the court instead!
“I’m sure my mom didn’t think she would die at age 35, but that didn’t stop her from doing the responsible thing and buying life insurance,” said Odom. “Her wise decision gave me the foundation to move on in my life, and played a big role in making me the person I am today. When I began my pro career, one of the first things I did was buy life insurance to make sure that my loved ones would always be taken care of. I’m proud to represent the LIFE Foundation and share my story and to hopefully get more Americans to do the kind of smart planning that my mom did.”
There are thousands of families across the United States who need life insurance protection. As an Agent of Liberty National, it is your responsibility to help meet those needs. With Liberty’s varied whole life and term products, you can offer a product to complement almost everyone’s personal goals, lifestyle, and financial situation.
Make life insurance sales your priority every month!

According to LIMRA’s 2010 Life Insurance Ownership Study:
• Thirty percent of U.S. households (35 million) have no life insurance protection.
• Half of U.S. households (58 million) say they need more life insurance.
• Among households with children under 18, 11 million have no life insurance.
• One in four U.S. households rely only on a group life policy, which can disappear if the wage earner loses his or her job.
• Four out of 10 U.S. households with children under 18 say they would immediately have trouble meeting everyday expenses if the primary wage earner died.
• Another three in 10 say they would have trouble keeping up with expenses after several months.
• Twenty-four percent of households with children under 18 want to speak with a financial professional about their life insurance needs.
Qualifiers and/or Torch Club honorees must meet applicable Company Minimum Standards and Qualifications for Production, QOB/DCN, and Recruiting to attend Torch Club and/or be recognized in our Company magazine.
