COVID – 19 Event Safety Plan

The Glacier View Kennel Club welcomes back our exhibitors for our dog show on August 1-3, 2021,

unfortunately this event is not open to spectators. Only people who have filled out a waiver, will be

allowed to pick up their armbands and wristbands. Waivers will be emailed to exhibitors before the

show, you will receive a QR code/email as proof of a completed waiver. The show secretary and club

members will have a list of those people who have completed a waiver, but it may be advised to have a

printed copy, or electronic proof of waiver completion with you. A link to the waiver will be posted on

www.dogshow.ca, paper copies and a download QR code will be available at the show grounds if

necessary but please fill out the waiver before arriving.

Rules

This event will follow all recommendations by the PROVINCIAL HEALTH OFFICER of BC and may be

subject to change. These rules will be posted at all entrances.

• No spectators allowed, participants only.

• Only people with wristbands will be allowed through the entrances to the inner field where the

rings are.

• All participants will use hand sanitizer when entering the inner field.

• Social distancing rules must always be followed except when a judge is examining your dog.

• Masks must be worn by ringside and in the rings.

• Exhibitors are to arrive at ringside no earlier than 15 minutes and must leave the ringside area

upon completion of judging or photos.

• Participants are to stay in their own set up and not gather in other set ups.

• No dog equipment or chairs shall be left under the club provided shade tents after your

competition is finished. We need to ensure adequate social distance spaces for all exhibitors.

People refusing to comply with the safety plan will be asked to leave show grounds and will not receive

a refund for entries. Please have patience with all volunteers, as they are working hard to provide a safe

and fun environment. Abuse of volunteers and other exhibitors will not be tolerated.

JUNIOR HANDLING

Judge to be announced. Time: During the lunch hour August 3, 2021

Entries will be accepted at the Show Secretary’s desk between 10:00am to 11:00 am. Entry

Junior handling is open to all persons from four years up to but not including eighteen years of age on the

date of the competition. All dogs must be entered in a Regular Class or for Exhibition only at the all -breed

show on Thursday but need not be owned by the Junior.

Rosettes and prizes will be awarded for FIRST IN EACH CLASS and for BEST

OVERALL HANDLER. Ribbons will be awarded to second through fourth in each class. Each peewee

participant will receive a participant ribbon.

Over the years, like many clubs, our club has been getting smaller, we are looking for people to help us put on a fun, safe event. We are looking for strong people to help set up the show on Monday August 2, people to help hand out wristbands, ring stewards, and people to help with parking. If you can help, click on the volunteer sign to go to our online sign up sheet and you will be contacted by a club member or the show secretary.

In payment of entry fees, the tendering of NSF cheques shall be considered non-payment of entry fees and is punishable by disciplinary

action and cancellation of awards. A collection fee of $25.00 will be added to the amount of any returned cheque. Credit card

payments will be accepted when accompanied by authorized VISA or MASTERCARD credit card number, expiry date and

cardholder’s name. 10% of total fee will be added for Credit Card entries. Customers whose charges are declined by the Bank Card

Authorization Department will be assessed a service charge of $25.00 for each transaction declined. Telephone entries are not

accepted by the Show Secretary. Incomplete entries or entries received without fees, or entries received after the advertised closing

date will not be accepted. There will be no refund on overpayments or duplicate entries. Please mail entries early to ensure that

they are received before the closing date. If the show is cancelled due COVID -19, a full refund will be given for the entry fee but not

the 10% fee added for credit card entries.

Attention Foreign Exhibitors

Please note that fees are due and payable in Canadian dollars. Due to consistently fluctuating currency rates, discounted

cheques will not be accepted. Personal cheques will be accepted; however, they are to be payable in Canadian funds. If you

send a cheque in US funds, it must be made out for the full amount of the entry and no exchange will be refunded to the

exhibitor. Please do not mark cheques “Payable in Canadian Funds” or “At Par”. They will not be cleared by the banks. To

simplify the process, we urge that you purchase bank drafts or money orders payable in Canadian funds. Your understanding

and cooperation is appreciated.

Border Crossing: Government regulations require that to be brought into Canada a dog

must have a Rabies Certificate. The certificate must be dated at least 30 days prior to re-entry into the

United States.

TCN fee (per show/per dog) $ 10.50. TCNs are replacing the current system of entering events with dogs as

“listed” and allow dogs to temporarily participate in CKC events while they pursue permanent registration or

an Event Registration Number (ERN). Effective March 2nd all owners of unregistered, CKC-recognized

breeds entering events are required to obtain a Temporary Competition Number (TCN). TCN

JUNIOR PUPPY - 6 months & under 9 months on the day of the show

CANADIAN BRED - for dogs born in Canada, Champions in any country excluded.

BRED BY EXHIB ITOR - shall be for dogs owned and handled in the ring by the breeder.

OPEN CLASS - shall be for all Dogs.

SPECIALS ONLY – Dogs which have a recorded CKC registration, Event Registration Number (ERN) or

Miscellaneous Certification Number (MCN) and have attained the required points for Championship status. All awards

earned at the show will be cancelled if it is found that a dog is not registered or has not completed the

requirements for a CKC Championship. Dogs entered in this class will compete for Best of Breed, Best of Opposite Sex

and Best Puppy if eligible.

NON-REGULAR CLASSES EXHIBITION ONLY - Dogs entered in this class may not compete in the regular breed classes.

BABY PUPPY CLASS- This class shall be for any dog 4 months of age and under 6 months of age on the day of the

show. The awards for this class are: Best Baby Male, Best Baby Female, Best Baby Puppy in Breed, Best Baby Puppy

in Group, Best Baby Puppy in Show (This class will be held on completion of Best Puppy in Breed, Best Puppy in

Group, and PRIOR Best in Show)

15.2 Grand Champion (GCh) (47-06-12)

15.2.1 The title of Grand Champion may only be earned after the completion of the CKC Conformation Championship.

15.2.2 Points for this title are only accumulated after the completion of the Conformation Championship and do not include the points earned in attaining the Conformation Championship.

15.2.3 To be awarded a Grand Champion title, a dog must attain a minimum of 20 points which must include a minimum of two wins of at least two points each. Points may be gained at breed, group or Best in Show/Specialty level. Only the highest points earned at a single show are carried forward.

a) Grand Champion Point System

Points towards the Grand Champion title, at breed level, and are awarded to the Best of Breed, Best of Opposite Sex, Select Dog and Select Bitch. Points are calculated based on the number of animals competing at the breed level for the Best of Breed winner and the number of similar-sex dogs competing for the other three (Best of Opposite, Select Dog, Select Bitch). The following schedule shall be employed in the determination of points awarded at breed level:

15.2.4 Grand Champion Bronze (GChB) The title of Grand Champion Bronze may only be earned after the completion of the CKC conformation title Grand Champion is attained.

(a) Points for this title are only accumulated after the completion of the Grand Championship, and do not include the points earned in attaining the Grand Championship.

(b) To be awarded a Grand Champion Bronze title, a dog must attain a minimum of 50 points, which must include a minimum of two wins of at least two (2) points each. Points must be gained at breed, group or Best In Show/Specialty level. Only the highest points earned at a single show are carried forward.

(c) Points accumulated prior to July 1, 2021 may be used to attain the GChB title, however, a minimum of five (5) points must be earned after July 1, 2021.

15.2.5 Grand Champion Silver (GChS) The title of Grand Champion Silver may only be earned after the completion of the CKC conformation title Grand Champion Bronze is attained.

(a) Points for this title are only accumulated after the completion of the Grand Champion Bronze is attained, and do not include the points earned in attaining the Grand Championship Bronze.

(b) To be awarded a Grand Champion Silver title, a dog must attain a minimum of 100 points, which must include a minimum of two wins of at least two (2) points each. Points must be gained at breed, group or Best In Show/ Specialty level. Only the highest points earned at a single show are carried forward.

15.2.6 Grand Champion Gold: (GChG) The title of Grand Champion Gold may only be earned after the completion of the CKC conformation title Grand Champion Silver is attained.

(a) Points for this title are only accumulated after the completion of the Grand Champion Silver is attained, and do not include the points earned in attaining the Grand Championship Silver.

(b) To be awarded a Grand Champion Gold title, a dog must attain a minimum of 200 points, which must include a minimum of two wins of at least two (2) points each. Points must be gained at breed, group or Best in Show/ Specialty level. Only the highest points earned at a single show are carried forward.

15.3 Grand Champion Excellent (GChEx) (48-06-12)

15.3.1 The title of Grand Champion Excellent may be granted only after the completion of the CKC Grand Championship Silver Title. Exhibitors will be required to submit to Shows & Trials the Grand Champion Excellent Record Sheet documenting the additional requirements. The Grand Champion Excellent Record Sheet Form is located on the CKC website.

15.3.2 To earn the title a dog must have earned the following during their career as a Special:

(a) one (1) Best in Show or a Best of Breed at a breed national specialty (where a minimum of 10 dogs have competed)

(b) three (3) Group 1st, or three (3) breed specialty best of breed wins.

(c) a CKC performance title from any CKC Event. Titles excluded are: CGN, Herding Novice Tested Certificate, all Instinct titles from all events, as well as all Sprinter titles and all Chase Ability Program titles.

15.3.3 Best in Show, Best of Breed at a National Specialty, 3 Group wins, or 3 Specialty Best of Breed wins, must be attained after the completion of a regular championship. The performance title may be attained at any time in the dog’s career.

1. Exhibitors are required to complete the Grand Champion Excellent Record Sheet form located on the CKC website

and forward to CKC upon completion of requirements above.

2. Grandfathering of the previous version of the Grand Champion Excellent title will be honoured up until July 1, 2022.

RULES GOVERNING THESE EVENTS

It is the responsibility of the exhibitor to be familiar with the rules pertaining to the event in which they are

competing. Copies of the Conformation Show Rules’ are available from the Canadian Kennel Club 400 200

Ron son Dr, Etobicoke, Ontario M9W5Z9

1. The club reserves the right to remove any person from the show. The Show Superintendent shall have full

control of these shows, which will be governed by CKC Rules.

2. Any dog Excused by the Show Superintendent or Veterinarian for any reason shall not, compete in any class for any awards for the balance of the show.

3. The officials of the show-giving club are responsible for the conduct of the exhibitors and spectators during

the show. Any person acting in an objectionable manner must be removed from the show on complaint to the

Show Superintendent (DSR 6.3.3, Jan 98)

4. A judge officiating at a show held under C.K.C. Rules shall not be subject to indignities of any kind during the

progress of the Show, and it shall be the duty and obligation of the Club holding the Show to see that this Rule

is effectively carried out. (DSC 6,3.3 Jan 98) 5. There will be no refunds for overpayments of duplicate entries. No entry fees will be refunded if the show

cannot open or be completed by reason of riots, civil disturbances, fire, an act of God, public emergency, act of a public enemy, strikes or

any other cause beyond the control of the Club.

6. The Show Committee will use due care and diligence for the welfare of dogs and exhibitors, but will not be

responsible for, or assume liability in the event of accident, loss, or other misfortune to either dogs, exhibitors,

patrons, or the contents of commercial booths. See agreement on back of entry forms.

7. The owner of a dog entered in this Show is entirely responsible for any errors in entering his dog, regardless of how or by whom the entry was made.

8. Exhibitors are solely responsible for the conduct or actions of their animals while they are on the show grounds,

and for their equipment left at the show site. All dogs must be kept on leash.

9. Any dog excused by the Show Superintendent or Show Veterinarian for any reason shall not, after being

excused, compete in any class for any award for the balance of the show. 10. A judge shall have the right to measure in the ring and weigh or have weighed by the

Superintendent, any dog whose breed standard lists height or weight as a disqualification. The decision of the

Show Superintendent reported to the judge shall be final in the determination of the weight. The decision of

the judge shall be final in the determination of all disqualification’s (DSR 6.4.1, Jan 98) 11. A dog once disqualified for any reason at a Champion Show held under C.K.C. Rules cannot again be shown

at a Show under C.K.C. Rules until the dog has been examined by an official committee appointed by the C.K.C. and the committee finds the dog is free from the condition which prompted the disqualification. Application for Reinstatement must be accompanied by the appropriate fee plus GST which fee shall be forfeited to the C.K.C. if the examining committee is satisfied that the dog should remain disqualified. All awards earned by a dog shown in violation of this Rule shall be cancelled by the C.K.C., and the owner of the dog is subject to disciplinary action.

12. Trailers, campers and other recreational vehicles must have buckets underneath for their sink drains.

discharging sewage or grey water on the grounds will be removed from the grounds. All camp sites and

grooming areas must be clean before you leave the grounds. 13. GENERATORS are NOT to be used between 10:00 p.m. and 6:30 am. Offenders may be asked to leave

the show grounds, with no refund of entry fees or parking fees.

EVENT REGIS TRATION NUMB ERS - For the sole purpose of entering C.K.C. Events to acquire C.K.C. degrees and titles, individual registration will no longer be required for foreign born, foreign owned dogs. Instead they may apply for an EVENT REGISTRATION NUMBER (ERN). Non-Member Participation Fee 24-12-3.

a) An annual non-member participation fee for awards and titles will be charged to a Canadian

non- member of CKC. The fee will match the ERN fee.

b) In order to protect the awards/titles earned, the non-member will have a choice either to become a CKC

member or to pay the non-member participation fee. Failure to comply within 30 days of notification will cause

all awards and titles to be canceled.

c) "These fees apply only to dogs wholly owned by non-CKC members and are not applicable to CKC

members."

4.1.5 No person may approach a judge either directly or otherwise, orally, in writing or

electronically, to favor his entry. Disciplinary action will be taken against any person who violates

this rule, or against a judge who fails to report any contravention of this rule to the CKC within 14

days of the action.

19.7 It shall be the duty and obligation of the show-giving club to see that a judge, club official,

volunteer or any participant at an event held under these rules is not subject to indignities. The

Conformation Show Committee Chair shall promptly report to the CKC any infringement of this

regulation, and the CKC shall have the authority to take such action as it deems fit on receipt of a

report indicating that this has occurred. A copy of this regulation shall be prominently placed in

every premium list and catalogue.

Directions to show location

Go north on Hwy 19 until exit 117. Take exit 117 and follow the signs to Courtenay. You will

eventually come to a T junction, turn left and then get into the right-hand lane. At 17th St. (there will be signs for Campbell River), go right and go over a bridge to a T junction, turn left (you can turn left from either lane) and follow the road to a large intersection. You will see Superstore on your right. Go through the lights, past Canadian Tire and go through the set of lights. You are now on Headquarters Road. Follow this along until you see a sign for the dog show on your left (about 1 Kilometre/ half a mile)

Directions from the North

Go south on Hwy 19, take exit 127 and follow road until you reach Headquarters Road, turn right, and then watch for Dog Show signs on right. Or on Old Island Hwy – Turn right on Vanier Drive – opposite Art Knapps, at stop sign turn left – until you see signs for show on right.
