EMERGENCY SERVICES

• Current Operations – – DEP working on air-curtain incinerators for debris

removal and air quality issues (burn clean)– Security is high to protect against looters and fulfilling

traffic missions– Base Camp is operational and located @ the North-

bound rest area off of I-75 in Charlotte County– Supplementing nursing staff at several locations– Refilling oxygen supplies– Deployed Overhead Team to Desoto County (Green

Team)– Florida Hospital (Orlando) reports treating over 100

instances of CO poisoning– Deploying port-o-lets at comfort stations and other

locations– Fulfilling LE missions and coordinating between State

LE, Local LE & FLNG

Emergency Services

• Unmet Needs – – 9 temporary facilities for fire stations– Generators for rural water systems/lift stations

• Future Operations –– Assessments ongoing for public health needs– Assessing mental/physical condition of first responders– Continued support for base camps, LSA’s and comfort

stations– Deployment of fire inspectors to generators placement

to prevent CO exposures– Redeployment of relief officers and maintain support for

current ones– Identify staffing plan for forward SERT

– Confirmed support of medical staffing– Assessments ongoing for public health needs– Continued support for comfort stations– Redeployment of relief officers and maintain

HUMAN SERVICES

• Current Operations –– Mobile Home/Housing Coordination Officer now at DFO– Community Relations Cooridination Officer now at DFO– Lists of Comfort Stations/Feeding stations- trying to keep it

up/but changes are slow coming in– Twenty three (23) shelters with population of 2279.

– 2 kitchens trailers in support of Comfort Stations. – 48 Canteens, 30 of which are at Comfort Stations.– 6 Shower units. – 543 trucks of water (2,579,250) gals of water have been

distributed.– 302 trucks of ice (12,080,00) lbs have been distributed.– 375,000 meals delivered to various sites– Working to match volunteers and donated goods with identified

needs through RRC and Volunteer Receptions Centers.

Human Services

– Continue to register volunteers and donations via Volunteer Florida call center.

– Five (5) Animal Aid Staging Areas up and running.– Mobile Code 3 Veterinary Hospital in Hardee County.– VMAT team in Charlotte County.– Tons of food at Bartow site for distribution.

• Unmet Needs:– Local Delivery site locations - some off loading problems -

lack of forklifts– Some transportation of donated goods is still needed.

• Future Operations – – Monitor inventory of resources and resupply as

needed.– Opening additional VRC and distribution sites.

Infrastructure• Current Operations –

– 272,616 customers w/o electric service (about half of these are in Lee, Orange, and Charlotte)

– Fuel support to county operations– about 38,919 PoTS customers out of service ( most in

Charlotte)– Cellular estimated at about 96% of pre-storm level- Hardee,

Desoto, Highlands are back up)– Radio, satellite, cell and POts telecom requests being filled– Supporting Charlotte County EOC and Base Camp mission– Traffic controls support– some heavy equipment request being met.

Infrastructure• Unmet needs –

– Monitoring fuel delivery resources• Future Operations –

– Continue to support fuel and telecom requests– Support Command Charlie- Base Camp missions– Continue to monitor transportation, electrical,

telecom and other restoration.– Continue to support communication’s needs &

requests

Military Support• Current Operations –

– 3,990 Soldiers and Airmen on State Active Duty– 1300+ assigned to security missions– RIAT/GST/RECON missions complete – LSA operatons continuously improving at LSA 1 & 2– CH-47 aircraft have halted aerial re-supply missions – Liasion Officers (LNOs) in all effected counties

• Unmet needs – – None

• Future Operations – – Continue to provide:– Support to law enforcement– Security– Humanitarian Relief– Transportation– Logistical Operations (LSA).

– Processed travel authorization requests and travel arrangements for people in the field.

– Processing multiple purchase requisitions and purchase orders.

– Total State agency costs through 08/17/04 - $235,884,138– Secured Wackenhut for security purposes at all 3 LSA's.
