The last 30 days have brought a continuation of the very warm weather pattern that has gripped the region for several months. Temperatures across much of the Upper Midwest have averaged 3-5 degrees above normal. Rainfall amounts have been variable; some places have had average precipitation while others have had very little. During the last couple of weeks of August and the start of September, the weather pattern will once again favor above-average temperatures across the region. High pressure will reside over the Plains much of the time, keeping cooler air bottled up across Canada. Temperatures across the Dakotas, Minnesota and Iowa may be 2-4 degrees above aver-age over the 30-day period. Precipitation amounts are expected to be below normal.
