AUDITIONS BEAUTY AND THE BEAST By Eric Stedman Sunday 15th October from 11am– Lavalla Centre, 58 Fernberg Road Paddington

SESSIONS One day is available, with auditions in 60-minute sessions. Please consider your registration carefully. Should you become unavailable after registering, please ensure you cancel your audition by following the link in your original registration email. REQUIREMENTS All auditionees must be 8 years or older. Available roles are on the next page. Please prepare the following for your audition:

• All auditionees must prepare a performance of a song 2-3 minutes in length. This song must be performed with a backing track either on CD or MP3 and be in the style of the show.

• All auditionees must also prepare a 1 minute monologue showcasing a range of emotion

All auditionees will be required to participate in a short dance audition on the day. REHEARSALS The rehearsal period includes Monday and Wednesday evenings and Sunday daytimes at various central locations from 16th October SEASON 9th December to 13th of January, including Saturdays, some Sundays and weekday performances during the school holidays. Beauty and the Beast Character Requirements

The BEAST/ PRINCE – Baritone - Range C4 – F5 A handsome young man, he walks upright and assumes the attitude of a perfect gentleman, but when he becomes angry he becomes ‘animal like’. He speaks extremely slowly in a rough grating voice that resembles a growl.

BELLE (BEAUTY) – Alto-Mezzo - Range A3 – G5 A gentle and kind young girl (around 16). Loves to help around the home and generally takes responsibility for all the household duties, taking care of her widowed father and sister.

REPELLA – (BELLE’S SISTER) Alto/Mezzo - Range G3 – C6 (mix) Not necessarily less pretty than Belle but has a loud, selfish, obnoxious attitude. She wears too much make up and overdresses as she hasn’t adjusted to living a life of no privilege. She is usually either dressing herself up or stuffing food in her face.

SIR BENJAMIN BASILFORT – (BELLE’S FATHER) – Baritone - Range B3- F5 A comical old merchant who used to trade by sea who has lost his fortune. He was once a member of the king’s guard but now wears clothes that are ragged and torn, although still wears his ‘great plumed hat’

FAERY QUEEN – Soprano - Range B3 –A5 The dark and magnificent queen of the forest. She wears a dark cape and has a crown of thorns on her head. She is rarely in a good mood.

PIERRE – Baritone - Range B3 –B5 A tight fisted wealthy French cloth merchant, chasing Belle’s hand!

The FAERIES – Altos and Sopranos - Range G3 – F5 (Strong harmony singers) The inhabitants of the Beast’s magic garden. Giggly and playful mostly but are there to serve the beast and are afraid of him when he is angry

RINA – Alto/Soprano - Range G3 – F5 narrator of the show and in service to the Beast

PEA POD – FAERY – Alto/Soprano - Range G3 –F5 ROSE A dancing Faery who represents the Princes’ lost love. WARRIOR FAERY #1 & #2: MALE ENSEMBLE – Range A3 –F5 FEMALE ENSEMBLE – Range D4 – G5
