Show Synopsis Peter and his mischievous fairy sidekick, Tinkerbell, visit the nursery of the Darling children late one night and, with a sprinkle of pixie dust, begin a magical journey across the stars that none of them will ever forget. In the adventure of a lifetime, the travelers come face to face with a ticking crocodile, a fierce Indian tribe, a band of bungling pirates and, of course, the villainous Captain Hook. Featuring the iconic songs, "I'm Flying," "I've Gotta Crow," "I Won't Grow Up" and "Never Never Land," and a rousing book full of magic, warmth, and adventure, Peter Pan is the perfect show for the child in all of us... who dreamed of soaring high and never growing up. Peter Pan is a dream come true for theatres looking to spread their technical wings and entertain countless families.
Audition Requirements You will be given a (5) minute slot to audition.
You are required to sing one song FROM A MUSICAL OR DISNEY PRODUCTION and ACT OUT a
monologue, completely from memory, which is (1) to (3) minutes in duration. (If you need help, please see a recommended list of songs to choose from).
You MUST SING WITH A SOUNDTRACK, with no background or supporting voices of any kind. No acapella auditions will be heard. You may not accompany yourself instrumentally. If you email your soundtrack to [email protected], with your name in the subject line, it will be ready for you when you enter to audition. If you need to begin at a certain spot in a song please include the minute and second that you need the music to begin (i.e. start track at 1:16). Many karaoke tracks can be purchased and digitally downloaded, for less than $1, from amazon.com. If you need help finding or editing a track to meet your audition needs please email the address above.
All musical practices for elementary participants will take place during elementary chorale, therefore any elementary students auditioning must join the elementary chorale to participate.
Audition Tips 1. Accept the audition invitation with grace and enthusiasm. You were requested to be here as our guest. Your attitude is your first impression. From the minute you walk in, you are auditioning. Be professional! 2. Make no excuses whatsoever. Leave your stressors outside and be free to enjoy life as another character for this moment. 3. Know your words and lyrics. Have the full understanding of what you are conveying. You must have your monologue and song memorized. 4. Know everything there is to know about the character you are portraying in your audition, and the show or film’s tone or style. This will help you bring this person to life for us. Read all the material you can get your hands on. 5. If given specific directions, take it, no matter what it is. 6. Project your voice. Stand tall. Be confident. 7. Become a character. Don’t show us the best version of you. Show us your best version of another person entirely! 8. Peter Pan is a fun, live, expressive show with TONS and TONS of music! Don’t choose an audition piece because it is your favorite song, choose it because it fits the tone of the show to which you are auditioning. For example, a hymn or a Carrie Underwood song does not fit the musical style of this show so it will not show us what we need to see to cast you in a role. 9. Your monologue should be one where you are moving and active. This is not a speech you would give behind a podium but words married to body language that transport the listeners to another world! 10. Remember that we’re all human in those rooms, and you can affect us on an emotional level. It’s what we all really want. That’s your job. You being fully present, truthful, personal, and vulnerable is going to
give us what we need to cast you. We all desperately want you to do great work. You show up and do your fullest, deepest work. You have the power to make that happen. For you. For us. For the work. FOR GOD’S GLORY!!

Character Breakdown
Neverland Leads:
Peter Pan - Childhood and boyishness personified, Peter is athletic and not shy about taking to flight
when the moment suits him. His reflexes are cat-like and his presence exhilarating. A creature of
constant motion. [Female Mezzo Soprano, Male High Tenor: F3 – C5]
Captain Hook - The one-handed captain of the Jolly-Roger. Relentless and restless in his pursuit of
Pan, Hook is short-fused and ridiculous. He is a larger than life villain. [Baritone/Tenor: C#3 - F#4]
Smee - Captain Hook's knockabout lackey. An archetypical evil sidekick, Smee might be a bit rotund
and is definitely dwarfed by Hook. Should be portrayed by an actor with physical comedy chops.
[Tenor: D3 – F#4]
Tiger Lily -A striking Native American princess, Tiger Lily is a tough girl and an excellent dancer. She
should command the stage when taking it and move on it as would mist. Spoken role with a lot of
singing. [Alto: Ab3 – C5]
Tinkerbell - Peter Pan’s silent fairy sidekick.
The Indian Ensemble – These graceful and cunning Indians follow their strong and resourceful
leader, Tiger Lily.
The Darlings:
Wendy Darling - The eldest Darling child. Wendy is compassionate, incredibly loving, and very
protective of her younger brothers. She is the child every parent wishes they had. [Soprano: A3-D5]
John Napoleon Darling - The middle Darling child. A sly smile is always at home on John's face. He
has a mischievous twinkle in his eye and is always ready for an adventure. [Baritone: A2-D4]
Michael Darling - The youngest Darling child. Never far from his favorite Teddy, Michael is sweet
and innocent. He is ever so lovable and very huggable. [Baritone: A2-D4]
Mrs. Darling - The Darling matriarch. Mrs. Darling glides about gently but swiftly from task to task
with motherly precision. She has a pleasant strength to her demeanor. [Soprano: D4 – C5]
Mr. Darling - A bit of grouch, Mr. Darling is a professional who happens to be a father. Though
sparkles of his love peak through from time to time, he often has places to go and people to see. He
may be of imposing size. [Baritone/Tenor: C3-E4]
Liza - The Darling’s servant. The frenzy housekeeper who attempts to keep everyone pleased. Great
cameo role for a young woman who can make strong character choices. [Mezzo Soprano]
Nana - The Darling’s dog. Non-speaking role in Act 1 & 3. Wear a large dog costume
The Lost Boys - Supporting Roles:

Tootles.

most things. Spoken role with sung solo in “I Won’t Grow Up.”
Curly - Lost Boy. Curly haired (hence name). Rather timid but loyal. Spoken role with one sung solo
in “I Won’t Grow Up.”
The Twins (1 and 2) - Lost Boy. The classic twins; we should not be able to tell them apart. Spoken
role with a solo in “I Won’t Grow Up” and “Ugg-A-Wugg.”
The Lost Boys Ensemble – this band of crazy characters joins with the leading Lost Boys as Peter
Pan’s dedicated comrades.

Hook.
