moving the play position in either application updates the position in the other. ReWire support allowscompatible applications to follow the timeline functions in Audition, so you can assure the tempo for yoursource audio in Propellerhead Reason always matches your tempo setting in Adobe Audition.

With all ReWire inputs, you can route the summed stereo output into a single track in the current multi-track Adobe Audition session. Some ReWire applications oer individual outputs for all their instruments.ese outputs can be “ReWired” directly into multiple Adobe Audition tracks so that you can use AdobeAudition to do mixing for that application’s audio. Apply eects, modify volume and pan settings, changesession tempo, or adjust equalization settings— the track controls that you are already used to working within Adobe Audition work for ReWire-based tracks as well.

When your session is complete, you can export a mixdown of your session, complete with the ReWire audio

Enhanced support for video

Adobe Audition 1.5 allows import of more video le formats, including MPEG, native digital video (DV),and Windows Media Video (WMV), in addition to the AVI format previously supported.

In the Multitrack View, your video track now appears with multiple thumbnails displayed throughout theclip, making it easier to synchronize audio with specic points in the video. Move quickly to the appropriatearea of your video using the thumbnails as a reference, and then nd the precise position you want using theseparate Video window.

Sound Your BestWith 32-bit processing and support for a wide range of sample rates, Adobe Audition guarantees youraudio les are always of the highest quality. Support for up to 128 stereo tracks, including as many as 32 liveinputs, means you can create incredibly rich audio. Adobe Audition 1.5 expands editing capabilities, addingpitch correction, automatic click/pop elimination, and a new center channel extraction feature that can beused to modify the relative volume of vocal and instrumental portions of a recording. Adobe Audition 1.5also adds over 500 new royalty-free loops for a total of more than 5,000, as well as twenty sample sessionsthat make it easier to get started creating your own customized musical compositions. e new frequency

space editing feature lets you easily isolate specic frequency ranges in a given time period using a MarqueeSelection tool, and then apply edits to only that selection to eliminate or modify specic noises in live audio,or achieve dierent eects in dierent frequency ranges over the same period of time.

Frequency space editing

Working with recorded music and other events, it can sometimes be dicult to achieve the results you wantwith a particular edit or eect since the change you want in one frequency range may give undesired resultsin another. For example, you may want to diminish or remove an unwanted noise such as a cough or chairsqueak from a live recording while leaving audio at all other frequencies unaected. Or you may want toapply dierent eects to dierent ranges within the same time frame, for example compressing bass fre-quencies to tighten a kick drum while at the same time adding reverb to vocals to give them a fuller quality.

Frequency space editing makes it easy to achieve such results. In the Spectral View, visually locate a soundyou want to remove or modify, and then drag that region with the Marquee Selection tool to precisely isolateit in both time and frequency. Once selected, edit or apply eects to modify only that selection.

Frequency space editing is also great for removing clicks from your audio. Locate the click visually in theSpectral View, isolate it using the Marquee Selection tool, and then use the Fill Single Click Now button inthe Click/Pop Eliminator to instantly remove it.

Pitch correction

e new Pitch Correction feature oers two

powerful modes—Automatic and Manual—eachproviding specic benets.

Automatic pitch correction oers a quick way toapply pitch adjustments to a selection. e featureanalyzes your selection and applies adjustmentsbased on three parameters you dene: Scale andKey, Attack, and Sensitivity. You can preview your adjustments before they are applied, andquickly compare your audio with and without theadjustment by using the bypass option.. You canalso opt to include preroll and postroll in yourpreview to conrm how your adjustment ts withaudio before and aer your selection.

Use the Marquee Selection toolto choose specic frequencies fora particular time span in SpectralView. Then apply eects or editsto that selection only. For stereotracks, selecting an area in one

channel will by default also selectthe same frequency and time inthe other; but you can also makethe selection in a single channel if you prefer.

Use Automatic Pitch Correction to quicklyapply adjustments to the pitch of anyselection. Use preview options to check

your adjustments before applying.

Adobe Audition 1.5 also oers an option for adjusting pitch manually, giving even greater control. eManual Pitch Correction option includes a graphic pitch prole of your selection, showing a comparison of the original and the adjusted audio. A separate graph represents your audio waveform, and you can makeadjustments by moving points on an envelope control over that waveform. Manual mode has the samepreview options as those found in Automatic mode.

Automatic click/pop elimination

Adobe Audition includes many eects that allow you to preview the results of your changes as you makethem. Adobe Audition 1.5 oers a new automatic version of the Click/Pop Eliminator eect that allows pre- viewing as you work to restore digital recordings of vinyl source material and production audio. e Click/Pop Eliminator eect from Adobe Audition 1.0 is still included for those who prefer more manual control.

Studio Reverb

e new Studio Reverb eect oers a high-quality reverb sound that is also real-time capable in both theEdit View and the Multitrack View. Studio Reverb oers better sound and more controls than the real-timeQuickVerb eect found in Adobe Audition 1.0, but uses CPU less than the Reverb and Full Reverb eects,thus allowing it to be used in real time.

Sample sessions

Adobe Audition 1.5 includes 20 sample sessions to show you how dierent types of audio sessions can beconstructed. Samples include a bebop session, a ska session, and even a classical music session specically designed for weddings. Use any of the 20 sessions to get up to speed more quickly on audio-mixing tech-niques, or use them as a head start on a new session. For example, you can use them as background for aspoken word audio project, simply adjusting durations and looping to match the length you need.

New royalty-free loops

Adobe Audition 1.5 adds more than 500 new production music loops for a total collection of over 5,000,each designed to help you more quickly create your music. New loops are oered in a wide range of styles,including 70s disco, classic rhumba, lounge, reggae, alternative rock, country drum and bass, techno, funk, jazz, and more. Loops specically designed for weddings, celebrations, and even corporate events make iteasy to create your own custom audio for special occasions. Many variations are oered within each style,for you to use in creating unique new music.

e loop collection included with Adobe Audition 1.5 makes it easy to put together a great-sounding com-position or soundtrack, even if you have no previous experience composing music. Mix and match theprovided loops in Adobe Audition’s easy-to-use Multitrack View to create soundtracks and other musical

pieces. None of the loops come pre-ltered, so you can combine them in any way, and then apply exactly theeects you want.

All of the loops are native 32-bit recordings performed by real musicians, so the music is fresh and dynamic,never sounding canned or mechanical. Add them to your own audio, and it sounds as if live performers areright there with you, backing you up.

Vocal/instrumental extraction

When working with live music production audio, you may nd you need to adjust the relative volume of vocals and instrumentation. e new Center Channel Extractor eect in Adobe Audition 1.5 can help solvethis dicult problem, allowing you to quickly raise or lower the volume at any phase location in your audio.For example, you can reduce or eliminate the center channel from a stereo track, or keep the center channeland reduce or even eliminate all other audio signals. For source audio that locates all vocals in the centerchannel, this makes it easy to create a cappella or karaoke-ready tracks.

Flexible envelope scaling

Adobe Audition has always given you the exibility to adjust envelope points individually by adding orselecting a point in the Multitrack View and dragging either horizontally or vertically. With Audition 1.5,you now have the ability to adjust all of the envelope points at once using modier keys.

Using this feature, you can create more headroom for envelope adjustments by globally moving all pointson an envelope down equally, and then adjusting one or a few back up for greater dierentiation. Alt-click to adjust all points in an envelope by the same amount. Ctrl-click to move all points relative to the bottomof the envelope (0%); or for Pan, to the center of the envelope (50%). All points remain xed in time as you

drag them vertically. You can also use another new modier key, Shi-click, to lock a single point in timewhen adjusting it vertically.

Integrated CD burning

Adobe Audition 1.5 makes it easy to burn one-o discs for a quick check of your current project, or toproduce an audio CD from audio les in any format Adobe Audition supports. Just click on the CD ProjectView tab, and then move les from the Organizer window to arrange your CD content. e CD ProjectView makes it easy to change the order of tracks, and to set track properties such as title, copy protection,and pause intervals.

Clip time stretching

In Adobe Audition 1.0, dragging the right edge of any loop-enabled audio clip in the Multitrack View addedrepeated loops as you dragged the loop longer. Adobe Audition 1.5 oers an additional mode that stretchesor shortens the duration of any clip (loop or non-loop) that you drag. With this option, you can drag theedge of an audio clip to perfectly t a specic length of time. is is especially useful for synchronizing

audio with a video clip sequence. Since clips can be lengthened without changing pitch, you can lengthen orshorten an audio narration to perfectly t the video it accompanies.

Preroll and postroll playback options

Speed the process of performing edits and applying eects by listening to the audio preceding and followingyour selection. Adobe Audition 1.5 gives you the exibility to determine exactly how you want preroll andpostroll preview to work. eir duration can be set individually for both the Edit View and Eect Preview.You can quickly enable or disable the preroll and postroll preview option in the dialog box for any real-timeeect. e context menu for the Edit View Transport Controls oers various preroll and postroll preview congurations for you to choose from. Keyboard shortcuts make it easy to quickly switch between thesepreview options as you need them.

The CD Project View makesit easy to quickly produceaudio CDs from any of thefull range of audio formatles supported by AdobeAudition 1.5.

Improved workflow with other Adobe video products

You can work more smoothly with Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe Aer Eects®, and Adobe Encore™ DVD,thanks to updated user interface conventions in Audition, which now more closely match the interface of these other Adobe applications. Areas aected include mouse behavior, menu arrangement, and the namingof commands and other user interface elements.

Customized keyboard shortcut sets

You can now save multiple sets of customized keyboard shortcuts in Adobe Audition 1.5. is feature isespecially useful for situations in which dierent users may share the same workstation.

In-time loop le previews

New transport controls in the Organizer window of Adobe Audition 1.5 let you preview audio clipsbefore moving them to a track in your session.Simply highlight a clip in the Organizer window and click the Play button below the le list. ePreview Volume slider sets the volume level, andis independent of the Multitrack View master volume control.

Click the Auto button if you always want a clip toplay when it is selected. Click the Loop Preview button to cause any clip to repeat continuously.

In the Multitrack View, there is also a Follow Ses-sion option. When it is checked, loop-enabled lespreviewed in the Organizer window will play withthe tempo and pitch of the current session.
