Data Analytics - Influence Management with your Audits (1 or 2 days) Nothing is more convincing to senior executives and audit committee members than strategic findings supported by clear logic and indisputable facts. This course explores how auditors can make use of data analytics to perform audits that have a big impact. Participants will also learn how to make efficient use of data analysis techniques and avoid pitfalls stemming from data integrity issues. Introduction to Risk Management (2 or 4 hours) Risk management is the foundation of good management and effective auditing. Participants learn risk management theory and risk assessment techniques. This course is tailored to the audience’s organizational context and role. Reduce Your Audit Effort - Strategic Risks and Smart Scoping (1 day) Why can two different audit teams complete the same audit, one taking 150 days of effort and the other taking 300 to 800 days? The answer, efficient audits: focus on strategic risks; leverage subject matter experts; include timely feedback from the CAE and Director; and use “smart scoping” techniques. Participants will learn to slash their audit effort without compromising quality. Performace Audits that Add Value (1 day) Strong operational and program audits address the barriers to organi- zational performance. Participants learn to scope a performance audit by focusing on the risks and issues that impede achievement of objectives. Participants also gain an understanding of tools and techniques for assessing program and process effectiveness and efficiency. Audit Risk Assessment Techniques (2 days) On the first day of this course, participants learn techniques for identi- fying strategic and operational risks and scoping an audit based on risks. The second day of the course is a case-study tailored to your organization’s context where participants work in teams to complete the planning phase of a fictitious audit. Auditing Efficiency - Approaches and Techniques (1.5 days) In an environment of fiscal restraint and public accountability, internal auditors can add value by targeting efficiency-related problems in their organizations. Participants will become aware of the many ways in which auditors can assess efficiency and gain confidence in identi- fying efficiency issues in their audits.
