7New Functions
AVL CONCERTO 4™ — Release Notes
2 New Functions
2.1 Improved Movie Object
The existing movie object was revised and improved with regard to usability and support of current video codecs.
In addition to offset and frame rate, the Properties dialog now allows defining a section of a video by entering start and end time. The images before and after the defined times are not shown and not used for video display. You can also use the slider to set the start and end time.
You can additionally synchronize the movie object with a cursor provided in the diagram. Moving the cursor in the diagram displays the related image in the movie object.
For details, see the CONCERTO 4.8 documentation or Online Help.
2.2 New Matlab Plug-In
The new AVL Matlab File plug-in enables MATLAB files (.mat) with a defined, specific structure to be read.Using a description file in .ini format, it is possible to define which data has to be read from a MATLAB file and how it is to be displayed:
As an alternative to the global description file (valid for all data sources) it is also possible to assign individual description files to data sources.
For details, see the CONCERTO 4.8 documentation or Online Help.
Example
Video length = 25000 ms
Offset 0 ms
Start 15000 ms
End 22000 ms
This setting has the following effect: The first 15 seconds (375 images at a frame rate of 25 fps) and the last 3 seconds (75 images) of the movie are removed; the starting time is shifted to 0; the movie now has a duration of 7 seconds (15 - 22 seconds) or 175 images, i.e. after 7 seconds, no images are shown any more (display is black).

AVL CONCERTO 4™ — Release Notes
2.3 Secure Access to Lynx/Bobcat Data
Access to secure Lynx/Bobcat data is ensured by username, password and an optional security file. The path to the security file is defined by the entry Bobcat-SecurityFile in the relevant data source.
The first time such a data source is called up, a login dialog is shown for entering the user data. The access details are saved for later data access.
If no security file is defined, no dialog is shown and data access is unrestricted.
2.4 Adding/Removing Attachments to/from ASAM-ODS Tests or Mea-
surements
CONCERTO now provides two ways of adding Attachments (external refer-ences) to a test or measurement:
By using drag & drop: You can drag entire folders or individual files from Windows Explorer onto the test or measurement. The files are analyzed to ensure that they can be read. For Windows file formats no further settings need to be made.
By using the Attach Files option from the test's or measurement's context menu (only available if the relevant ASAM-ODS data source allows the use of external references).
For details, see the CONCERTO 4.8 documentation or Online Help.
2.5 Opening Attachments at Measurement Points of ASAM-ODS Data
CONCERTO allows you to open linked attachments directly at the relevant measurement point.
A measurement usually includes a channel that contains the attachment file names for the respective measurement point.
For details, see the CONCERTO 4.8 documentation or Online Help.
2.6 Adding/Removing Isolines Directly in a Diagram, Edting Attributes
Isolines can now be added directly to the diagram object by using the context menu or the auto toolbar.
After selecting a position, a Tooltip shows the x/y-coordinates and the interpo-lated z-value at the relevant position.
One or more isolines can be deleted by selecting the relevant isolines and pressing the Delete key or choosing Delete from the context menu. To cancel the deletion of isolines, use the Undo function.
After selecting one or more isolines, attributes can be edited directly by choosing the Properties option from the context menu.
For details, see the CONCERTO 4.8 documentation or Online Help.

AVL CONCERTO 4™ — Release Notes
2.7 Vertical Bands for Labels
A new option for label positioning is available: Labels of all curve lines in a diagram can be arranged as flush vertical bands.
For details, see the CONCERTO 4.8 documentation or Online Help.
2.8 Manual Label Positioning
Labels on curve lines can now be positioned manually as required. Automatic label positioning is still possible.
To position a label manually, select the curve where you want to position the label and then use the context menu. You can move the created label on the curve line on which it was created or change its appearance.
Layout Explorer displays these labels as subobjects for the respective curve line.
For details, see the CONCERTO 4.8 documentation or Online Help.
2.9 New GIS Control Object
The new GIS (Geographic Information System) Control object enables you to integrate geo-data into your diagram, which is shown in a diagram window. You can then superimpose track data on top of the geo-data, for example in GPS Exchange Format (GPX).
The geo-data is provided by OpenStreetMap.
By saving the relevant map material locally you can apply this function either online or offline, i.e. without having an established Internet connection.
Additional display possibilities via Formula/Script Editor using a script:
Setting a marker on the track using the SetMarker in the Formula/Script Editor and controlling it using an OnMove script applied to a cursor object. This OnMove script applied to a cursor has the effect that as the cursor position changes, a marker is moved across the track in the GIS object.
For details, see the CONCERTO 4.8 documentation or Online Help.
2.10 Data Query via Local SOLR Indexing
Using the Enterprise search engine Solr, CONCERTO offers efficient indexing and high-performance search capabilities for large volumes of data. The function allows indexing any data (consequently also ASAM-ODS data sources) directly in Data Explorer. The feature requires an installed Java Runtime Environment (JRE), version 1.7 (b40) or higher.
Search results are displayed in a separate dialog window and can be refined using special operator syntax (e.g. "avg(Speed) <>4000 - 6000 and size >10").
It is even possible to navigate through the search results. Search results can be localized in Data Explorer (using the context menu) or removed from the index again.
New Functions10
AVL CONCERTO 4™ — Release Notes
It is also possible to access and evaluate the Solr index via Formula/Script Editor.
The Solr search function is available as a local version (5000 indexed files maximum); there is also the option of purchasing an unlimited number of indexed measurement files.
For details, see the CONCERTO 4.8 documentation or Online Help.
2.11 Template Formulas
Standard formulas always use fixed input quantities (i.e. references to datasets). If you need a certain syntax repeatedly, but with different input quantities, this might produce a large number of identical formulas which all would have to be adjusted if the syntax changed. For this reason, CONCERTO 4.8 features the option of defining template formulas. The advantage of using template formulas is that they are created "dynamically", i.e. they are not filled with input quantities until they are accessed (calculated).
For details, see the CONCERTO 4.8 documentation or Online Help.
11Improved/Extended Functions
AVL CONCERTO 4™ — Release Notes
3 Improved/Extended Functions
3.1 Data Display and Display Objects
3.1.1 JC-4836 Legend Entries in Layout Explorer Not Automatically Refreshed after
Data Addition
Up until now, when adding a dataset to an existing diagram with a legend, the entries relating to the legend in Layout Explorer were not automatically refreshed. Furthermore, any new legend entries were not transferred to the legend Properties dialog either.
3.1.2 JC-4874 Auto Range Function Not Working for Logarithmic Scales
The Auto Range function did not work for logarithmic scales. Whenever this function was evoked, no changes were made to the scales. It has to be noted that the moving of curves in diagrams with logarithmic scales does not work.
3.1.3 JC-4936 "Raise Pen on Invalid" Function Not Working for CTF Data
The function Raise Pen on Invalid did not work for data sources of type Trans-port File. The set invalid flags were ignored and any lines in the channel preview or in display objects remained continuous as in line diagrams.
3.1.4 JC-5091 "Add everywhere & sync." Cursor Synchronization Function Not
Working
The function Add everywhere & sync. for cursor synchronization did not work if no unit was defined on the x-axis.Now the function can be used if the names as well as the units for the x-axis of all diagrams to be synchronized match. In case no unit is defined for the x-axis of all diagrams to be synchronized, this function will now work too.
3.1.5 JC-5101 Invalidate Records Function Not Working on Defined OnLoad Macro
The Invalidate Records function did not work for data loaded from data sources if an OnLoad macro was defined for such data. Up until now, the invalid flags for the data were not changed.
3.1.6 JC-7570 Data Key Sorting in Channel Browser Not Logical
The data key sorting function in the Channel Browser did not work logically if data keys had the same name followed by an index. The following order of sequence could occur: TM1 - TM10 - TM11 - TM2 - TM3 - TM4 - TM5 - TM6 - TM7 - TM8 - TM9.The sort sequence has now been adjusted according to the following logic: TM1 - TM2 - TM3 - TM4 - TM5 - TM6 - TM7 - TM8 - TM9 - TM10 - TM11
3.1.7 JC-7665 "Freeze Curves" Function Not Working for Cyclic MDF Data
The function Freeze curves did not work for cyclic MDF data. Although the func-tion could be selected, it only worked for IFiles. Now the function can also be applied to cyclical MDF data.
Improved/Extended Functions12
AVL CONCERTO 4™ — Release Notes
3.2 Data Explorer and Data Handling
3.2.1 JC-4900 Sorting by Attribute Not Possible in the My Computer/Network View
Sorting the list view by attribute (e.g. by name or modification date) was not possible in the My Computer/Network view in Data Explorer. It is now possible to use these attributes for data sorting.
3.2.2 JC-5045 Embedding of CTF Data in a Layout Not Working Properly
Loading CTF data embedded in a layout only worked if the layout was loaded with the same CONCERTO installation or with an CONCERTO installation with the same structure. Conflicts occurred with paths that prevented the data from loading. Now CTF data can be embedded in a layout and reloaded regardless of the installation structure.
3.2.3 JC-5170 Unit Conversion for IFiles Using Map File Not Working
The unit conversion function for IFiles using the map file did not work. This is a known bug, which we have not been able to eliminate to this day. However, it was never explicitly pointed out to the user. For this reason an error message is now shown in the message list whenever an attempt is made to perform a unit conversion for IFiles using a map file.
3.2.4 JC-5365 New Method of Data Key Sorting
The new method of data key sorting introduced with CONCERTO 2.7 was canceled for the user interface. Now, any existing formulas, macros or scripts using datasets that contain no data key definition and additionally occur in different data keys can be used in the usual way. Performance was able to be enhanced by an internal data sorting system.
3.2.5 JC-5913 Channel Name Translation Using Map File Causing Changes in Data
Points
The map file based channel name translation for data sources of type AVL InMo-tion File caused changes in the data points. All y-trace data of all translated channels were set to 0.Map file based channel name translation for data sources of type AVL InMotion File is now possible again.
3.2.6 JC-6677 Repeated Opening of Compressed Data Leads to Error Messages
If a compressed file (e.g. compressed data of type .zip) was opened repeatedly multiple times, this led to error messages in the message list. Up until now, after being opened repeatedly, it was not possible to reload the same file without having to restart CONCERTO.
3.2.7 JC-7654 Adaption of DCM File Plugin to New DCM Data Structures
Due to new file structures in DCM data, the DCM File Plugin in CONCERTO had to be adjusted. Up until now, it was not possible, for example, to read channel names containing dots, or data key names containing an index in square brackets (e.g. DatakeyName[1], DatakeyName[2]) in the DCM File Plugin correctly.
13Improved/Extended Functions
AVL CONCERTO 4™ — Release Notes
3.2.8 JC-7920 New Logic for Measurement Concatenation Function
The logic for the concatenating measurements function (DXV entry Concate-nateMeas=) was adjusted for time-based data.
For details, see the CONCERTO 4.8 Online Help.
3.3 Formula/Script Editor
3.3.1 JC-4972 AddDataSet Script Function Not Working with Array Datasets
The AddDataSet script function did not work if you wanted to add array datasets (containing a # in the channel name) to a file.CONCERTO was unable to execute this command.
3.3.2 JC-5121 Script Function Colour of Class Object Using Wrong Color Palette
The script function Colour of the class Object used the wrong color palette. Up until now, instead of the color palette seen under Format | Colours/Styles/Marker, this script function used a fixed color palette of the script function Colour of the class DisplayItem (see CONCERTO Online Help for the color palette of the script function Colour in the class DisplayItem).
3.3.3 JC-5366 New MultiOpen Script Function
CONCERTO 4.8 provides the new script function MultiOpen for the File class. This function opens a test already open by using a new alias.
3.3.4 JC- 5500 New IsDialogActive Script Function
CONCERTO 4.8 provides the new script function IsDialogActive for the Applica-tion class. This function checks whether a certain dialog (defined by the dialog name) is active and returns 1 if a dialog with the mentioned name is already active, other-wise it returns 0.
3.3.5 JC-8015 Undesired Change of Invalid Flag Due to a Calculation
Under certain circumstances it could happen that CONCERTO unintentionally changed the invalid flag during calculation. So it could occur that values were set to valid due to a calculation in the Formula/Script Editor.
3.3.6 JC-8091 Change in Compiler Leads to Altered Behavior
If changes were made to the Formula Compiler, formulas/macros/scripts in CONCERTO 4.7 were canceled whenever a non-existent dataset was assigned to a variable.Earlier versions of CONCERTO exhibited a different behavior in this respect. In earlier versions, formulas/macros/scripts were not canceled when a non-existent dataset was assigned to a variable, but later on when such variables were to be used.
Improved/Extended Functions14
AVL CONCERTO 4™ — Release Notes
3.4 CalcGraf
3.4.1 JC-5562 CalcGraf Power Function Delivers No Base if Base Has No Base Base
Line / Base Values
The Power function delivers no base trace for the result if the base of the expo-nential function had no base trace.Instead, a log point-based base trace was assumed. Now, if the base itself has no base trace, the function returns the same base trace for the result as that of the exponent.
3.4.2 JC-7329 Changes in CalcGraf Models Always Saved in TempDir
Whenever changes were made to a CalcGraf model after it was opened from a defined source, this model was always saved to the TempDir folder in CONCERTO instead of to the model’s defined source. When using this approach now, CONCERTO overwrites the original model instead.
3.5 Setup Settings
3.5.1 JC-4891 Failed Attempt to Load GlobalEnvironmentFile Leads to Deletion of
concerto.ini Entry GlobalEnvironmentFile
The concerto.ini entry GlobalEnvironmentFile was automatically deleted from the concerto.ini file if the GlobalEnvironmentFile was unable to be loaded. This mechanism was implemented to prevent reloading at every restart. But there are situations in which the deletion of the concerto.ini entry GlobalEnvi-ronmentFile is not desired (e.g. if a user temporarily has no access to the GlobalEnvironmentFile). The entry is now no longer deleted if the GlobalEnvironmentFile cannot be loaded.

4.10 JC-7686 New Movie Object No Longer Supports Old Video Formats
The movie object introduced in Chapter New Functions on page 7 is unable to play certain old video formats (e.g. formats based on 256 colors).
4.11 JC-7804 Data Search Using SOLR Indexing Uses Certain Special
Characters for Searching
The data search using SOLR indexing uses some special characters such as "!" for searching. Accordingly, "!" is interpreted as NOT. Consequently, a search for "!N", for example, will deliver no data key called "N" or "!N". To find a data key called "!N", the search bar would have to contain "name=!N".
4.12 JC-7806 Drag and Drop Not Working Automatically with Channels
and Rich Text Objects
A rich text object is a form object, so channels on which drag and drop is applied are inserted as an item along the same lines as in the form table, e.g. #A.To be able to display data of the used channel in a Rich Text object, e.g. #An has to be used (for the channel name).
