Exploring the Holy City: Gullah, Grits and Ghosts
Learn about the culture of Charleston and explore unique aspects of the Lowcountry through experiential learning
activities and excursions. Students gain in depth knowledge of Southern culture, history and language, while discovering many
beautiful Charleston landmarks and special events. Students interact directly in American life by participating in community-
based learning projects inside and outside the classroom. Walk with us through Charleston graveyards, secret alleys, sanctuaries
and cemeteries. Listen to Lowcountry ghost stories and learn about Charleston’s supernatural side from local historians.
Note: This course satisfies 30 hours of the requirements for au pairs.
