Additional Local Relief Teacher appointed for Term 4 Due to the significant difficulty of recruiting staff, Mrs Margaret Dearlove will be based at Fernvale SS on contract for Term 4. Mrs Dearlove will work on Year 4P of a Thursday and Friday to replace Mrs Angela Leader. Mrs Leader has accepted a fulltime position at Ipswich East for the remainder of the year. On the other days Mrs Dearlove will act as a Relief Teacher for staff in the event of absences. Mrs Dearlove joins Ms McGill in this role (Tuesday and Wednesday only) and also Ms Fraser who is also based at our school in the role of fulltime District Relief Teacher. School Improvements Over the break several school improvements and minor school works were undertaken. The installation of a large area of artificial grass to enhance the area near the Year 2 and 3 classes is now completed. This has greatly enhanced this area. Other work includes plumbing, installation of new gate to rear of the staffroom area and some garden clean ups. Well done to all involved in these projects to improve our school facilities.

From the Principal Upgrade to School Hall – Installation of Sports Flooring In exciting news, next week I am meeting with Regional Facilities personnel regarding a major project on the installation of “Sports Flooring” to the School Hall. This work is expected to be in the vicinity of $150 000 project to enhance our school facility. I will communicate to the school community the expected timelines and full scope of the planned works after the meeting has been held. Keep tuned!

Term Three Attendance Data At the completion of Term Three the overall attendance rate for all students at Fernvale State School was 90%. Our yearly target is 95% attendance. Upon further analysis of the student data the following attendance data was recorded in Term Three:

· 18.6% of all students attended for less than 85% of the time

· 17.6% of all students attended 85-90% of the time

· 25% of all students attended 25% of the time

· 38.8% of all students attended 95-100% of the time

The lowest attendee recorded for Term Three was at 34% attendance with 53 students attending 100% of all Term Three. All students that have met the school target of 95% or better will again be rewarded with a Pancake Breakfast. Individual forms advising of this will be sent home this week. Dogs on School Premise There has been an increasing number of dogs (large and small) being brought onto school grounds during school drop offs and pick up times. As much as we all love our family pets, dogs are not permitted to be on school grounds during these times as a matter of workplace health and safety. Thank you for your support. October Pupil Free Day The final Pupil Free Day of the 2018 School Year will be held on Monday 22 October.
