What is ATSIM?
• A web-based system designed for the collection, update, and management of standard transit stop inventories using a Tablet PC
• Developed and maintained by FDOT
• Free to all transit agencies in the State of Florida
Why ATSIM?• Keeping track of transit stop facilities and their amenities
• Capable of collecting data for over 80 stop attributes
• Assessing transit accessibility/status of ADA-compliance
• Identifying locations for stop improvements
• Supporting better Asset Management
• Supporting various Advanced Public Transportation Systems (APTS) applications such
as trip planners, automatic passenger counters, voice annunciation systems, etc.
• Automates the data collection and analysis process and avoids time-consuming manual data entry
• Enforces data standardization, making it possible to share customized application tools

• Recoded PDA application in C#

ATSIM Version 3.0 - 2007
• Implemented on HP iPAQ hw6945, with Windows Mobile 5.0 (more stable)
• Includes a desktop interface that automates installation, data transfer, data merging, and data conversion
• Uses XML file format for PDA application
• Includes map to show GPS location using ArcGIS Server 9.2 Mobile SDK

Key Features • Login - The Login feature ensures that only authorized users access the
ATSIM system. It adds security, protects data integrity, and improves system management.
Key Features • Initial Settings - The Initial Settings are based on the individual Login:
o Assessor’s name o State o Transit system
• Location - The Location function allows the user to input: o Stop number, stop name, and stop class o GPS location o Routes, streets, landmarks and more…
Key Features • Amenities - The Amenities function allows the user to select:
o Shelter/bench type o Shelter/bench condition and capacity o And more
• ADA Compliance - The ADA Compliance function allows the user to
enter: o Terrain and surface o Cross slope and running slope o And more
Key Features • Miscellaneous - The Miscellaneous function allows the user to add:
o Sign mount o Posted speed o Notes
• Add Fields - The Add Fields function allows the user to customize up to
eight user-defined attributes
• Images - The Images function allows the user to take pictures and
upload them to the system.
Extra Features
• Maps - Allow users to view current map location
• Add & Save Record - Allow users to add and save records
• Delete Record - Allow users to delete records • Print Record - Allow users to print records
• Work Orders - Allow users to generate work orders
• Export - Allow users to export data in three different formats (CSV,
GTFS, GIS) as well as to export stop pictures (PICS) • Search - Allow users to search records
Key Features - Work Order • Work Order Form - The work order form allows planning staff to communicate with maintenance personnel to carry out field work related to bus stops. It contains the following information:
o Bus Stop Data o Priority Type o Work Type o Install Type o Sign Type o Amenities o Location Map o Field Notes
