    Egyptians and Greeks

It appears that the Egyptians mayhave used both pi and phi in thedesign of the Great Pyramids.

    The Greeks based

    the design of the

    Parthenon on this proportion

    Geometry

Pythagoras was the first who discovered a goldenproportion drawing a regular pentagram, which has aregular pentagon inscribed within it(and that was thePythagorean's symbol as well).

Euclid provides the first known writtendefinition of what is now call golden ratio

The golden ratio (phi) represented as a linedivided into two segments AandB, such thatthe entire line is to the longer Asegment astheAsegment is to the shorter B segment

The ratio has a special relationship withFibonacciNumbers(1,1,2,3,5,8,13,21). Eachnumber is the sum of the two numbersbefore it. If you take any twosuccessive Fibonacci Numbers their

ratio is very very close to GoldenSection.

FibonacciFibonacci discovered the first sequence ever known in Europe

examining at the same time a practical problem which dealtwith the development of a hypothetical population of rabbitsbased on idealized assumptions. He noticed that, after everymonthly birth, the number of the rabbits couples increasedfrom 1 to 2 to 3 to 5 to 8 to 13 etc., and understood that

the sequence moved on by adding the previous two numbers, asequence which could theoretically continue without ending.

    The special meaning of Phi

Phi is the first letter of Phidias,

    who used the golden ratio

in his sculptures, as well as

the Greek equivalent to theletter "F," the first letter of

    Fibonacci. Phi is also the

    21st letter of the Greek

    alphabet, and 21 is one

of numbers in the Fibonacci series.

Phi as a door to understanding life

The description of this proportion as Golden

and Divine is fitting perhaps because it is seenby many to open the door to a deeperunderstanding of beauty and spirituality inlife. That's an incredible role for a single

number to play, but then again this onenumber has played an incredible role in humanhistory and in the universe at large.

    Fractals

In modern mathematics, the golden ratio occurs in thedescription of fractals, figures that exhibit self-similarity andplay an important role in the study of chaos and dynamicalsystems.

There are severalexamples of fractals, which are defined as

portraying exact self-similarity, quasi self-similarity, or statisticalself-similarity. Whilefractals are a

mathematicalconstruct, they arefound in nature, whichhas led to their

inclusion in artwork. They are useful inmedicine, soilmechanics, seismology, and technical analysis.

    Atrise Golden Section

This program is a unique design toolfor artists, designers, programmers, photographers. It allows us to design

using the golden section proportionvisually over our preferred designsoftware. This software makes it possibleto use one of the most effective andfinest secrets of harmony andperfectionthe golden section!

Many developers use thisprogram to create beautifuldialogs and forms. We can also

use this program to findharmonious points and crop ourphotos. It supports third rule,

    symmetry, attention points.

harmonious dimensions and forms. It will assist us in creatingelegant items, while staying away

from calculators and numbers.Simply launch the program, adjust the dimensions for thedesign and create!

It is well known, that the important partof perception is perception of forms,

sizes and symmetry. Harmoniouscorrelation of sizes and forms is usedpractically everywhere in arts, design and

technology. The golden section allowsproducing beautiful pieces, using simplerules, and is accessible for every

designer. However, simplicity inachievement of harmony requirescalculations and a straight eye.

Atrise Golden Section is a program, whichallows avoiding the routine operations, calculator compilations, planning ofgrouping and forms. We can see andchange the harmonious forms and sizes,

while being directly in the process ofworking on our project. Designing hasnever been that simple. The precision is

also available. The program offers easymethods of achieving sizes with accuracyto a nearest pixel.
