NEW FRONT SIGN
Something to celebrate in this new year: a new front sign! New driveway signs/exterior building signs and new lighting for the sign
have also been installed. Thank you to Jim Krapf and the Sign Committee for their time and effort in making this project a reality…and to those families who assisted in funding this project through
Memorial gifts in memory of loved ones.
WORSHIP AT ATONEMENT: THE CONVERSATION CONTINUES
Sunday, January 14 10:45am
Join us for an Adult Forum Discussion on January 14 where responses
from the recent Worship Survey will be shared as we discern our congregation’s worship and Christian Education goals for the future. We invite your involvement in this discussion.
A Prayer for the Year To Be
God of the old and new, we thank you for the year now past. For moments that warmed our hearts, for days when we laughed and loved, for times of celebration for the gift of life in Christ, and for a Church that praises your name in a chorus of languages around this earth. Thank you for the memories of your sustaining presence in seasons of sickness or pain, when worry or anxiety were our constant companions. Thank you for your words in scripture fulfilled in our daily lives: “Your sins are forgiven”… “My grace is sufficient for you”… “I am with you always.” Gracious God, we also thank you for the year yet to be, and pray that as we journey, you go before us and beside us. Gather into your arms all who carry hurt from the old year into the new, and give them the assurance of your never failing care. Be with us, Lord, as we pray for ourselves; we who stand between the old and the new…who believe and yet struggle with our faith…who pray and yet doubt the necessity of prayer…who love and yet find love so difficult…who still have much to learn about being your children. Lead us, guide us, and love us in Jesus’ name. Amen.
In Christ, Pastor Gail

FELLOWSHIP
Refugee Fellowship Dinner Sunday Jan 28 at 4:00 PM
For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in. – Matthew 25:35 Join us for a very special pot luck supper…an evening of food, fellowship, music and a devotional time with refugee families who have settled in Rochester from Afghanistan, Somalia, and other lands far away. A collaborative welcoming ministry of Atonement Lutheran Church, 12 Corners Presbyterian Church, and South Presbyterian Church, this intergenerational dinner will be held in the fellowship hall of 12 Corners Presbyterian Church, 1200 Winton Road South, right around the corner from Atonement. Watch the bulletin boards for more information and for sign-up sheets to volunteer and to bring a dish to pass. Contact Avis Hooper, Margy Peet, or Pastor Gail for more information. What a beautiful way to help our new neighbors feel welcome in their new country: to break bread together around the table! We hope you will join us!

BRIGHTON FOOD DEPOT
For the month of January, we will be collecting cereal, peanut butter, and mac 'n cheese for the Brighton Food Depot. Your support of the BFD is greatly appreciated. Thank you!
Dear Pastor Gail, We arrived home this evening to a most wonderful blessing from our Atonement family. It is hard to put into words how deeply this gift is touching our hearts. In these advent days of anticipation and wait, of trepidation and fear, of need for hope, for healing, for the great babe, it brings us such comfort to know our dear faith family is right alongside us. You all have already brought the light into the darkness in these winter evenings. You should also know that I take my atonement quilt with me to my gamma knife procedures, including last Wednesday’s and the doctors and nurses absolutely love it. They love to read the comments with me. They make sure it doesn’t get anything on it. They wrap me in its warmth before they put me in the machine. Please, please, please share our thanks and excitement with the congregation. We are humbled and hopeful, thanks to you all. Thank you for showing Christ’s love to us, now, when we need it most. Love, Barbie & Matt (and the whole Macholz family, for that matter!)
To my awesome atonement family,
It seems inadequate to say thank you for the amazing outpouring of care, concern, love, and , especially the prayers extended my way throughout my recent journey.
The floral centerpiece is beautiful and will grace my table for the holidays.
My family joins me in expressing our deepest appreciation to all of you.
God’s Peace- Barb Goodrich
Hi all,
We’ll miss all of the wonderful programs and, most of all, do miss all of you! We haven’t found a church home here yet, but we’ll work on that when construction is done here. (An extension for my friends
stained glass window and for my plants. Contactors in NY are far superior to those here!!)
Merry Christmas, and a very blessed new year, Karen & Don

We welcome Harlan and Barbara Granger into membership at Atonement, and pray that they may be blessed and nourished in our community of faith. Thank you to those who donated food, and to those who volunteered to serve dinner for our Lutheran Campus Ministry meal at RIT. It was greatly appreciated.
