1. INTRODUCTION

Since the beginning of AECL, one of the major R & D programs has

been the development of fuels and fuel cycles. This program has been sub-

divided so that many different aspects of this broad subject have been

represented In the research and development activities. Among these aspects

are fuel fabrication, Irradiation and post-irradiation analysis. Although

principal emphasis has been on natural uranium In a once-through cycle,

development work has also been done on thorium and enriched fuel cycles.

Fuel recycle, through the reprocessing and refabrlcatlon of fuel, has also

been evaluated for Improved conservation of uranium.

Through ths years, requests have been received for publications

on many of these aspects within the general field. It was therefore felt

that a comprehensive listing should be compiled covering all segments of our

research and development in this area.

This bibliography covers AECL publications that have emerged

from the various fuel and fuel cycle research and development programs. It

includes reports, conference papers and journal articles most of which have

been assigned numbers in the AECL series. Storage and disposal aspects of

the CANDU fuel cycle are documented in a similar report, "Radioactive Haste

Management In Canada: A Bibliography of Published Literature", Atomic

Energy of Canada Limited Report, AECL-6186-Rev.3 (1983).

It is Intended that the listing will be brought up to date

periodically. Suggestions for additions or deletions, if necesssary, will

be welcomed.
