InstallationGuideTheAtlatlMiniissmallenoughtoinstallalmostanywhereonyourquadthatyoufindconvenient.Typicallyitwouldbemountedusingdouble-sidedtape,andpossiblyaziptietoholditsecurely.AlthoughtheAtlatl’sMMCXconnectorisquitedurable,westronglyrecommendsecuringtheantennatotheframesothattheAtlatlwon’tbedamagediftheantennaistuggedoninacrash.Therearevariouswaystodothis,including3Dprintedparts,orevenjustzip-tyingthepigtailtoastandoff.WiringuptheAtlatlisnotcomplicated.
1. Soldertheredwirefromthe5vpadtothevoltagesourcefortheAtlatl.TheAtlatlrequires4.5vto5.5vvoltage(nominal5v).YoumustruntheAtlatlfroma5vpowersupplysuchasthevoltageregulatorofyourflightcontrollerorESC.IfyouconnecttheAtlatltoahighervoltagesupply,itwillbedamagedordestroyed.
2. SoldertheblackwirefromtheGpadtoagroundpadontheflightcontroller.VideonoisewillbeminimizedifyousolderyourAtlatlgroundwireandyourFPVcamera’sgroundwiretothesamepad.Twistthemtogetherandtinthembeforesolderingthembothtothesamepad.
3. ConnecttheyellowwirefromtheVIpadtothevideosignalwireofyourFPVcamera.Thecamera’svideowirewillusuallybeyellowaswell.Youcandirectlysolderthetwowirestogether,oryoumighthaveaPDBorFCwitha“VideoIn”and“VideoOut”pad.Inthatcase,solderthecamera’svideowireto“VideoIn”andtheAtlatl’svideowireto“VideoOut”.
4. TheAtlatlcanberemote-controlledusingTBSSmartAudioprotocol.ThisistherecommendeduseoftheAtlatl.Tousethisfeature,solderthebluewiretofromtheTpadoftheAtlatltotheTXpadoftheUARTonyourflightcontrollerthatwillbeusedforthisfeature.SeeyourFC’sdocumentationforhelpdecidingwhichUARTtouse.
5. InBetaflightorCleanflight,gotothePortstab.EnableTBSSmartAudioprotocolontheUARTthatyouareusingtoremote-controltheAtlatl(theUARTwhoseTXpadyousolderedthebluewireto).DonotenableanyotherfunctiononthisUART.EachUARTmusthaveonlyonefunctionactiveatatime.

UsingTheOSDIfyouareusingaBetaflightFlightControllerwithBetaflightOSD,youcanmanagetheAtlatl’stransmitpowerandchannelfromwithintheOSD.
ThegraphicsaboveshowthestickcommandtobringuptheOSDmenu.Thestickcommandis:throttlecentered,yawleft,pitchforward.Theexactstickcommandthereforedependsonwhichmodeyourtransmittersticksarein.
IntheOSDmenu,usepitchup/downtomovethecursorbetweenmenuitems.Whenamenuoptionhasa>symboltotherightofit,thisindicatesthatitcontainsasub-menu.Roll-rightwillenterthesub-menu.Forexample,inthescreentotheright,movingthecursorto“Features”andthenmovingtherollsticktotherightwillenterthe“Features”sub-menu.
TomanagetheAtlatl,enterthe“Features”menu.Fromthere,enter“VTXSA”

ThescreentotherightshowsthecurrentvTXsettings.Fromhere,youcanchangethefrequencyband,channel,andpowerlevelofthevideotransmitter.Aftermakingthechanges,movethecursorto“Set”andpressroll-righttoconfirmthesettings.
TheBetaflightmenuhaspre-setoutputpowervalues.Ifyousetthemenuto25mW,theAtlatlwillbeat25mW.Ifyousetthemenuto200mW,theAtlatlwillbeat100mW.Ifyoutrytosetanyothervalue,thechangewillberejectedasinvalid.
