Persons of the Year aspotlight was placed on the tide ofexposs which dominated thenews last year. Whether, in termsof corporate corruption, governmental misfeasance/malfeasance, injustice in theworkplace, or a host of other ills,2002 was unrelenting in itsrevelation to us all that the godsdo indeed have feet of clay. Some might suggest that such aplethora of uncovered badnesswas just a passing phase, andlife w ill soon return to normal,

but we propose that, thus far,we have seen only symptomsof something much deeper which has only begun to unfold.

Something in our collective psyche may have been shaken loose by theshock of 9/11 and its aftermath, forcing us to think about things whichpreviously had been almost ignored or forgotten. In the face of loomingthreats to li fe itself, the search for meaning and the real purpose in li fe, formany, has taken on a new urgency and, consequent ly, we have become lesstolerant of the shams and scams which in less turbulent times could befoisted upon us w ith impunit y. Such changes do not bode well for themerchants of illusion who have flourished in the tw ilight.

At Atlanti s Rising Magazine, we believe that philosophies and scientificparadigms which limit the possibi li ties of the human soul also reflect greatcorrupt ion at the top of the idea establishment. From thi s quarter has come amult itude of cheats and ploys calculated to align us all w ith discreditedworld views (several of which you can read about in this issue). Hopefully, the new honesty w ill prove the undoing of thi s group as well.

Scienti fic doctrines declaring that w e are but animalsmere accidents ofnature for whom destiny i s a meaningless illusionno longer awe the peopleand empow er these self-anointed custodians of ultimate truth . Andnotw ithstanding frantic efforts to prolong their tenure at the top, a corruptscientif ic priesthoodout of touch with its ow n divin ityfinds theemptiness of i ts offic ial pronouncements becoming clear to all and it sdeparture from the dais of authority inevitable.

Some believe that in our society t here is a kind of collective compass bywhich we navigate in times of turmoil. Like shipwrecked sailors, we seekfixed stars to guide us to safe harbor. At such times, deep questions ofidenti ty and originwho are we? where did w e come from? and w here arewe going?emerge, as if f rom the w ings, to challenge the soulless scenarios

with which we have contented ourselves in their absence. The process, w e believe, is accelerated w hen the facts which othermedia ignore are reported. Reason enough for thi s publ ication to do what itdoes.

    Just call us whistleblow ers.

Rising, via snail mail,or e-mail, is the best, but not the only wayto make your views

known to our readers. There are alsoforums on the Atlantis Rising website (go to www.Atlantis Rising.comand select Discussions) .

Wests New Vi deoThis note is just to let you know

how pleased we are at David S. Lewissenthusiastic and perceptive review ofour Magical Egypt DVD series (A.R.#37).

Several observations Id like tomake: Despite the banner at thebottom of every page about your ARcatalog, I dont think readers automati-cally realize that the product can bepurchased through you. I only figuredthis out myself when the apparent lackof sales info was pointed out to me. Ithen, after no little head-scratching,put 2+pi+phi+e together to get 4 (moreor less) and got myself pointed to thecatalog. Other readers may not be asmotivated to fi nd the solution and mayjust be left wondering. So ... for what i tis worth...

    2. While David Lewis is generous in

his praise of the unique and strikingvisual aspect of our project, the nameof my colleague entirely responsiblefor this is omitted. This is a bit like a re-viewer w rit ing a rave for t he best rendi-tion of Hamlet ever seen, and then for-getting to name the actor in the role.AR readers should know that itsChance Gardner behind the visuals, and much else besides.

    3. A point that is actually worth ex-ploring in more detail than I will allotto it here: Mr. Lewis writes one wouldhave to be predisposed (to the sym-bolist view), in that few outsidesources are brought in to make the

case for the skeptical or those sittingon the fence. This is true.

But no amount of balanced debatewill ever dissuade the committedskeptic from his (rarely her) pas-sionate unfaith. Skept ics are t rapped intheir materialistic universe and nothingthat I or anyone else can ever say willcure them from their delusions. Theywill go on believing the ancient Egyp-tians were primitives while we areprogressive and developed. It is ofcourse always possible that the gods

themselves may see fit to put these sicksouls through the trauma of an NLE(Near Life Experience) in which casethey may suddenly get a realisticglimpse of this extraordinary universeof ours. But it will never come throughreasoned argument and scholarly de-bate. Not ever. Moreover, my col-leagues and I are rarely if ever invited

to participate in the ongoing onslaughtof network or cable videos based uponthe Establishment version of Egypt. Ifwe are, we participate at our peril, forwe are invariably unfairly edited or oth-erwise egregiously misrepresented.Since interested fence sitters are re-peatedly treated to these shows, wecould see no need to waste valuabletime sett ing up a polemic that might ormight not get them off their fence. ARreaders will know that no one enjoyspolemic more than I this just w asntthe place for it. Or, put another way, ifyou go to Luxor what you want to see

is Luxor Temple and Karnak and theValley of the Kings and all the rest; youprobably do not want to waste timebeing shown improvements to thelocal sewage treatment plant.

Schochs New BookI read Tracking the Pyramid

Builders (A.R. #37) by William P. Ei-gles, Secretary of the International Re-mote Viewing Association, with in-terest. The article is actually a review

of Robert Schochs new book Voyages

of the Pyramid Builders: The True Ori-gins of the Pyramids from Lost Egyptto Ancient Ameri ca.

Schoch uses his new book to pro-pose on a scientific basis the obvious, that all of the megalithic monumentsstrewn over the surface of the earth be-long to a worldwide civilization thathas been lost to historys view. Thesemegalithic monuments were discov-ered in a haphazard manner over thecenturies and without coordination in-corporated into a scientific canon thathad no explanation for them by as-signing their origin to the ancestors of

whatever indigenous people happenedto be living around them at the time oftheir discovery.

There is no method in claiming thatmegalithic ruins we could not con-struct today were somehow built bylocal primitives, and there is no sci-ence to be obtained from the pasticheof ignorance that result s.

Yet Eigles would hold Schochs pro-posal to a test that wasnt applied tothe motley morass of misinformationthat the proposal seeks to replace. Asfar as establishing the actual commo-nality between the pyramids of dif-ferent times and places is concerned,

Eigles assert s, Schochs claims seempreponderantly subjective, given thedearth of actual archaeological evi-dence to support them.

Aside from the fact that differentplaces are involved, we know nothingabout the megalithic structures in ques-tion other than the commonalities thatSchoch points out. When I refer to theresults of the consensus belief thatmegalit hs are the product of primiti vesas ignorance, I am therefore using theword literally. No one knows how themegalit hic struct ures around t he worldwere constructed. The consensus con-jectures ignore the absence of th is cru-

cial piece of knowledge and forgesahead to claim what its position as ex-pert demands, knowledge of origin itcannot have in reality.

Because all of the consensus conclu-sions are founded on the absence ofthis crucial piece of knowledge, con-sensus conclusions about the megali thsare based on ignorance and thus theproduct of ignorance.

Surely Eigles, whose ow n endeavorsface ignorance on the part of those

READER COMMENTSPerhaps the pyramids will not be

physically destroyed, although it is atrue possibility. Moreover they couldbe potentially used to influence themasses. Even a relatively small findmay be used to add credence to a polit-ical system, various faiths and aplethora of alternative theories re-garding the purpose of thesemonuments.

Yet Dr. Hawass has the media spot-

light firmly on him and is working onprobably the worlds most famoustour ist attr acti on. Should he release anyinformation at all? should be the ques-tion, i f so, to w hom, and when?

If you think different, then think ofthis. If the exploration of the shaft re-vealed an artifact, then w hat w ould therepercussions have been if they hadfound (ignoring obvious time framesand probabilities): a crucifix, a gold starof David, the Koran, a statue ofBuddha, a copy of the joy of sex, aset square and compass, a semicon-ductor material, an alien skull?

    Alun

Noahs Ar kThe reason they cannot resurrect

the Ark is because it is in a very dan-gerous location that is prone to snowavalanche. Several years ago part of itwas visible because of the snowshifting and weather conditions, butnow according to aviation specialist, itis broken in half and buried. Severalpeople have ventured up there in veryharsh and dangerous conditions andsome pictures were taken and pieces ofartifacts and wood were brought backand analyzed.

    CAT

The story of Noahs ark is a lit eral ac-count of something which parallelssomething else thats going to happenin the future. As Mark Twain said, his-tory may not necessarily repeat itself, but it sure does rhyme.

    Larry Gerndt

Life and Can cerThe longer you live, the greater the

chance of developing cancer of onesort or another. Cancer is the result of amutation that causes cells to keep di-

viding unchecked. It r esults from expo-sure to some mutagenic item, genetics,or from natural errors in cell division. When you live longer, two thingshappen: 1) you are exposed to moremutagenic items (such as sunlight) 2)cancer has more time to develop andshow up.

In other words, if you live longenough you will probably developcancer.

    TomB

who seek to evaluate Remote Viewing, can understand Schochs reluctance tomeet the opposition on its own field ofbatt leignorance.

Instead of arguing from ignorance,Schoch attempts to take commonali-

ties found relative to megaliths all overthe world and create a working hy-pothesis that will form a basis for fur-ther study. Yet Eigles takes Schoch totask for not being among the respect-able researchers who, approachingthe past with only scant hard evi-dence . . . remain vigilant againstfreighting assumptive ideas with moresubstance and credibility than they ac-tually deserve.

To the contrary, Schoch is takingthe only evidence available, the com-monalities dealing with the worldwidemegalithic remains and proposing abold hypothesis that agrees with those

commonalities. The commanalitiesSchoch highlights are the only factsdealing with the megaliths availableand his hypothesis will become theworking hypothesis around which allthe stray and yet to be discovered factssurrounding the megaliths will beorganized.

Rather than disagreeing with a sci-ence that is already well developed,Schoch is providing a foundation for ascience that has yet to be developed, one that has been only visited by dilet-tantes whose motivations, in words Ei-gles misapplies to Schoch for various

activities and actions on the part of theancients are clearly speculative in na-ture and in fact, are based on ignor-ance of even the most basic facts.

    From the Atlanti s RisingForums

Great Pyr amid WarsZahi Hawass is hung up by scien-

tific materialism. The pyramid wasconstructed for the preservation ofspiritual materialism. This is the an-cient concept, as above, so below.Nevert heless, Hawass must do as he isdoing. If he said that a hieroglyph wasthe end of the journey he wouldhave to reveal the Fables of the An-cients to prove it. The moment he didthat, the scientific community wouldrip him to pieces. If he successfullyproved that Giza was an ancient prede-cessor to Mecca, the Islamists terrori stsin his own land would blow the pyra-mids to pieces.

ASAs struggle to silence chargesthat it faked the Apollo Moon mis-

sions continues to escalate. In thewake of last years Fox TV prime-time

special Moon Hoax, as well as otherdocumentaries, books, and the relatedcontroversy on the internet, not a fewintelligent and serious people havebegun to wonder aloud if, indeed, inan effort to get an upper hand in thespace race of the 1960s, NASA didinsome West Coast studioactually fakethe landings.

Things reached such a pi tch late lastyear, in fact, that the agency an-nounced plans to produce a book re-futing the allegations. The idea waslater dropped after the agency wascharged by some in the scientific com-munity of responding to ignorance, thereby giving it undeserved credi-bility. Author James Oberg, a formerspace shuttle controller, now says hestill intends to write the book whetheror not NASA sponsors him.

Like most such conspiracy theories, the Moon Hoax affair has a polarizingeffect, putting orthodox opinion onone side and detractors of any kind onthe other. Any middle ground becomesvirtually untenable. Those who ques-tion the official story are accused of ig-norance and paranoia. Those who

    NNASA CREDIBILITY UNDER ASSAULT

agree with it are charged with naiveteor w orse.

Anyone, though, who has wit-nessed, at close range, the launch of an

Apollo rocket, interviewed a moon-walking astronaut, or met w ith many ofthe scientists and engineers of thespace program is unlikely to be im-pressed with the suggestion that themoon program was a giant charade. Afew fear, though, that a larger, butmore subtle, point could be lost in thesquabble.

If NASA finds its credibility under at-tack, someespecially those who havesuggested that the agency is blockingevidence of intelligent life on Marswonder what could be more strategi-cally useful to NASA than to choose abattlefield on which it enjoys an over-whelming advantage. Could turningback such a dubious attack then makeit easier to ignore more serious andcredibl e questionsto brush t hem of fas more of the same? The danger felt isthat the failure of the moon hoaxchallenge could help to inoculate theagency in the public mind againstcharges that it has dealt unfairly inother controversies involving, say, in-telligent life from elsewhere in the uni-versemaybe on Mars, or even here onearth , now or in the ancient past.

THE CASE FOR LIFE ON MARS GETSBOOST

he latest scandal in archaeology isa further chapter in the case of dis-

graced Japanese archaeologist ShinichiFujimura. Once considered one of theworlds most prestigious archeologists,Fujimura had earned the nickname

Gods Hand,or his uncanny knack offinding artifacts. All that came to anend in November,2002 when he wasphotographed bythe Japanese new s-paper MainichiShim bun(see pic-ture) in the act ofplanting artifacts.Subsequently headmitt ed that hehad faked discoveries at 42 of the digsin which he had been involved. At twoother sites, he had insisted, his finds

were genuine. It now turns out, notsurprisingly, that he was lying aboutthem too.

Tagajo Board of Education has beenreexamining Fujimuras work since lastsummer, and now has concluded thatalmost everything he produced wasbogus. In fact, of stoneware found atShibiki in 1983, 161 out of 163 pieceswere covered with dirt different fromthat where they had supposedly beendiscovered. The same was true of all124 pieces found at Kashiw agi in 1987.

As author Michael Cremo (The For-bidden Archaeologist) has pointed outin these pages, mainstream archaeology

is dominated by consensus which hasnot always been based on the actual evidence. When evidence of skullduggerycomes to light, the question arises, how much else that we havent heardabout has been faked or manipulated toplease an elit e or advance a career.

For more dirt on Fujimura and theproblem of chicanery in archaeologyread Michael Cremos column in At-lan tis Rising#30, Page 18.

In Atlantis Rising#37 we reportedon the work of Dr. James Adovasio atMercyhurst College in PennsylvaniaHuman artifacts there have been datedto 17,000 B.P.E. which challenges theorthodox Clovis notion that mankindfirst came to North America across theBering strait to Alaska 11,500 years ago.

    The latest contradictory evidence

comes from Mexico where a 13,000year-old human skull has turned up. Afew years ago human habitats in MonteVerde, Chile were dated to 14,000years ago. And there are other corroborating d iscoveries. Some anthropologists have begun to talk openly of migrations by seafaring people across thePacific and the Atlantic.

World renowned authori ty SilviaGonzalez has been studying the Mexican skull at Mexicos National Museumof Anthropology. She said the skull issimilar t o others found belonging to thenow extinct Pericues people who populated the southern tip of Mexicos Baja

California state, along the Pacific Coastroute, until the 18th century.

The question is, w e have these veryancient individuals, but where did theycome from? wonders Gonzalez, anearth sciences lecturer at LiverpoolsJohn Moores University in England.

Despite the evidence, though, mostcollege professors and researchers inthe field still talk of Clovis as established fact. Someday such teachers maybe thought of in terms usually reservedto describe other extinct species.

lit tl e less than 100 years ago, tw o bi -cycle mechanics showed that the

scientific establishment was dead-wrongabout the impossibility of heavier-than-air flight. On December 17, 1903, Orvilleand Wilbur Wright burned their namesinto history at K itty Hawk, though it tookfive more yearsnot unt il late 1908 wi th aflight demonstration at Ft. Myer, Vir-gini afor the Establishment s media or-

gans even to acknowledge that theWrights had pulled off a scientific andtechnological coup. Following theWrights seminal achievement, the nexthundred years witnessed a revolution intransportation and commerce. Then as-tronautics built upon aviation with explo-sive technologygiving rise to communi-cations satel li tes, weather satel li tes, andvoyages to the Moon, planets, asteroids, and comets. Space exploration has beenseverely hampered, to be sure, by thelack of an energy source much more po-tent than chemical combustion, andspace flight has been saddled by a restric-

tive physics that is built on the shakiest offoundations. That is about to change, with a revolution in electricity that has alot to do w ith the fundamental physics of t he universe.

It is a little over a century after much of our world beganto have access to widely distributed electric power, thanksto the pioneering by Nikola Tesla of polyphase alternatingcurrent. This began in 1896 wit h the generation of electricit yat Niagara Falls and its transmission to other parts of NewYork. But Teslas plans were far greater. He wanted tolaunch a world of free energyone in w hich electri c pow ercould be tapped by anyone at any point on earth via wire-less transmission. Despite that great geniuss mostly unrec-ognized impact on civilization, an era of free energy did notbreak out; Teslas hopes were put on hold. His famous 187-foot Wardenclyffe transmission tower on Long Island was

erected in 1903. Its ostensible purpose had been for globalradio communication, but Teslas driving ambition f or i t hadbeen to launch wireless power transmission as well. Thiswas not to be. Financial reversals and other problems led tothe tow ers destruct ion; i t was sold for scrap in 1917. But thequest for free energy did not die. Just as there had beenmany failed aeronautical pioneers toward the latter part ofthe 19thcentury, so there were to be many failures in thequest for f ree energyand some near-miss successesthroughout the 20th century.

Though we have seen many dead-end detours on the roadto free energy, it may be that 2003 will mark a turning point

in that journey. Victory is long overdue! Today, many solidstrands of research in free energy are coming together, andthe final triumph of limitless, clean energy is very muchwithin reach. In fact, sad to say, the primary ingredientholding back a raging breakout of a New Energy revolution isR&D moneyin the right hands, of course! Foremost amongthe hopeful developments in New Energy is the recognitionof the work of Tesla himself, though free energy will notcome in the way the great inventor had planned it. Mostlikely there will be no generalized wireless transmission ofpower, but there will be free energy tapped from the

vacuum statethe aetherat countless distr ibuted sit es w ithcompact free energy devices. Thus, the inevitable end of thepower-gridjust as Tesla had envisioned. This is in the pro-cess of happening as legitimate aether physics is recoveredfrom the impending w reckage of Einsteinian relativi ty and it sfiction of the nothingness of so-called space-time. I draw

the attention of those readers with a moremathematical physics bent to the compen-dious work of Dr. Paulo and AlexandraCorrea on their www.aetherometry.comwebsite. There one will find preciselyhow matters went astray, beginning i n the19th century, and continuing with themany limiting fictions under whichphysics sti ll labors.

If one does not care to probe the de-tails, but wants to see prototype plasmapow er and self-sustaining aether motors inoperation, there is now a 100-minuteDVD, From Plasma Power to the AetherMotor, which can be ordered fromwww.aethera.org. Dr. Harold Aspden, anaether theorist himself and former di-rector of IBMs European patent opera-tions (from 1963 to 1983), introduces theCorrea technology by describing howelectromagnetic theory went astray asearly as the 1820s! Seeing the DVD maynot exactly bring one to believing, but itis the next best thing. My hard-fast testi-monial based on hands-on testing and fa-

miliarity with the physics and its discov-erers is that this technology i s for realthere is no hanky-panky involved, no con-

cealed batteries, etc. This is the first timein the quest forfree energy from the aether that such pedigreed devices haveappeared in accessible publi c view .

No less than threetypes of free energy technologies aredisplayed in operation and testing: 1. The mid-1990s pat-ented pulsed plasma power Pulsed Abnormal Glow dis-charge (PAGD) reactor devices, powering spinner motorsand spinning up f lywheels (50 watts of DC electri city i n, 500watts mechanical power out); 2. Patent-applied-for self-runningAether/ORgone Motor-Converter technology, stem-ming from the work of Nikola Tesla and Wilhelm Reichmotors that are driven by aether energy captured with or-gone accumulators, by vacor (evacuated) glass tubes, and

    Adventures in the Ukraine

ast year, I visited the Ukraine twice, spreading the message of forbiddenarchaeology among scientists, students, and the general public.

The first visit was in the spring. At that time, I was invited to give a talkto the archaeologists at the Institute of Archaeology of the UkrainianAcademy of Sciences in Kiev, the ancient capital of the Ukraine. There I pre-sented a summary of the evidence for extreme human antiquity docu-

mented in my book Forbidd en Arc heology. I also spoke about the Vedicbackground of my work, which is inspired by my studies in the Puranas, theancient historical writings of India. And finally, I discussed the topic of knowl-edge filtration, by which archaeological evidence for extreme human an-tiquity is eliminated from normal scientific discussion.

It is very upsetting tomy extremist critics (I callthem the fundamentalistDarwinists) that I get suchinvitations from profes-sional archaeologists.

These extremist critics wishto totally bar me and mywork from the world of sci-ence, but the world of sci-

ence, apart from theseextremist critics, seemsquite open to at leasthear my ideas.

The talk at the Instituteof Archaeology went well.About fifty archaeologistsattended. I was intro-duced by one of the di-rec tors. Afterwards, sev-eral archaeologistspurchased copies of the Russian edition of my book The Hidden History ofthe Human Race (the abridged edition ofForbidd en Arc heology). Althoughmost of the people speak Ukrainian, a Slavic language related to Russian, they also know Russian quite well. Still, I hope that eventually a Ukrainian

publisher will bring out a Ukrainian edition of the book. In any case, severalarchaeologists approached me after the talk and told me that they havehad experience of the knowledge-filtering process operating in their disci-pline there. One of the archaeologists accompanied me out to my car. Hesaid he very much apprec iated my talk. He said that some years ago, thearchaeologists at the institute would have weekly sessions in which theydeeply questioned the fundamental assumptions underlying their practiceof archaeology, but over the years these discussions had stopped. He saidthat my work made a contribution to getting archaeologists thinking aboutthese things again.

Another highlight of the spring tour was a visit to the Dnepropetrovsk His-

torical Museum. Dnepropetrovsk. The secondlargest city in the Ukraine, Dnepropetrovsk duringthe Communist era was a closed city, off-limits totourists because of its missile factories and othertop sec ret installations. When I arrived at the mu-seum, I was met by its director, who introduced

me to Dr. Larisa C hurilova, head of the archaeology collec -tion. Dr. Churilova led me on a tour of the archaeology collec -

tions. I learned some interesting things from her. While showing meold tombs, skeletons, and items buried along with the skeletons, she

told me that the evidence suggested to her that the Stone Age people ofthis region believed in reincarnation. I found that quite interesting, because,as a student of the Vedic philosophy, I accept reincarnation as a fac t. Iasked her if she and her colleagues had published anything on the topic. She said no, because the editors of many of the professional journals frownon such cultural interpretations of archaeological evidence. They just wantto print things like a stone flake 2 centimeters long was found at a depth of1 meter in the excavation, without offering any thoughts about what rolethe object may have played in the conscious lives of the people who madeand used it.

Other objects in the museum suggested contacts or relationships withthe Vedic culture of India. Aside from evidence for extreme human antiq-uity contradicting the Darwinian theory of evolution, evidence for the pres-ence of Vedic culture in various parts of the world is one of my main inter-ests. Many Ukrainian and Russian archaeologists, having noticed the signs of

Vedic culture in that part of the world, have concluded that the Vedic cul-ture originated in the steppes of the southern Ukraine and then moved intoIndia about 3500 years ago. But I believe it is more accurate to say that theVedic culture was always present in India, and that the signs of Vedic cul-ture discovered by archaeologists in the southern Ukraine represent a radia-tion of that culture from India.

During this first tour, I also spoke to students and professors of archae-ology and history at several universities in Kiev, Dnepropetrovsk, and Do-netsk. And I also had a chance to speak to the people in general throughpublic lectures and the media. Major articles about me and my work werepublished in the major national and urban newspapers, with headlines suchas Humans Are Not Apes, Says Controversial Archaeologist from USA.

The response to the spring tour was so positive, that I came again in thefall to visit three other major citiesKharkov, Odessa, and Lvov. Kharkov islike the Pittsburgh of the Ukraine, a tough, grimy industrial center, but likePittsburgh it also has its cultural side. In Kharkov I had a meeting with promi-nent scientists and philosophers at the House of Science, who came thereto hear me talk on forbidden archaeology. Odessa, on the Black Sea coast,is somewhat like New Orleans, a rowdy port town, with a long history ofsmuggling and black marketing, and a mixture ofvarious cultures.

In addition to my usual university lectures and media interviews, I hadthe chance in Odessa to meet Dr. Boris Mukha, a paleontologist at the Mu-seum of Paleontologyof the University ofOdessa. Parts of under-ground Odessa arehoneycombed withsandstone caves thatgo for miles. The caves

were put to good useby the partisans who re-sisted the German oc -cupation during WorldWar II, but they are a lsofilled with deposits inwhich can be foundbones of animals mil-lions of years old. Dr.Mukha showed me acollection of animalbones between 3 and 4million years old that

i NEWSiNEWSdisplay signs of havingbeen modified for useas primitive tools. Some of the jawbones of mammalshave holes drilled inthem. The holes haveled some to speculatethat the animals werekilled by bullets shot

by space visitors mil-lions of years ago. Myinspection of thebones does not sup-port that particularidea. It seems that thebones were modifiedfor some deliberatepurpose. In addition

to the holes, I saw that many of the edges had been sharpened and pol-ished.

Dr. Mukha told me that when the bones were first shown to specialistsfrom Russia, they said that they obviously had been modified by an intelli-gent being. But when they were informed of the ages of the bones, theychanged their minds. A report submitted by Dr. Mukha to the Russian journal

Priroda (Nature) was rejec ted. This seems strange to me. It seems that thebones could, at the very least, be attributed to a hominid on the level ofAustralopithecus. The evidence shows that the environment around Odessa3-4 million years ago was warm and dry, like the African savannah. But sci-entists seem to object to the idea that Australopithecus could have beenpresent outside of Africa. So the bone tools of Odessa provide another caseof knowledge filtration.

As far as I am concerned, the modifications of the animal bones couldhave been made by anatomica lly modern humans living 3-4 million yearsago in the Ukraine. I have shown in Forbidd en Arc heologythat there are nu-merous discoveries of human bones and artifacts demonstrating that hu-mans of our type were present in various parts of the world at that time andfar earlier.

Inspired by the historical research I did in Forbidd en Arche ology, Dr.Mukha and a coauthor are now working on a study of the anomalous ar-chaeological discoveries made by earlier generations of archaeologists, ge-ologists, and pa leontologists in Eastern Europe. I am looking forward toseeing that report, as it could add another chapter to the history of for-bidden archaeology. Dr. Mukha also showed me an account from YevliaChelevi, a seventeenth-century Russian traveler in Turkey, who saw bones ofgigantic humans in a cave there.

After Odessa, I went to Lvov, a very cultured and architec turally beau-tify city in the far-western part of the Ukraine. There I had a public lecture at-tended by about five hundred people. After the talk, a graduate studentfrom the university raised some loud objections of a purely theoretical na-ture. I let him go on for some time, but in the end, when I asked him if hecould offer any specific objec tions to any of the specific cases I presentedin the talk, he could not do it. As I did after the spring tour, I then went bytrain to the Crimea, to spend a few days in Yalta. There I finished writing theintroduction to my forthcoming book Human Devolution, which should be inthe bookstores by fall 2003. Yalta, because of its southern position, usuallyescapes the extreme cold of the Russian and Ukrainian winter. Czar Nich-olas II had at Yalta a winter palace that was later used in 1943 for a famouswartime meeting between Stalin, Roosevelt, and Churchill. My first two daysin Yalta were sunny. The southern coast of the Crimea, with its dry mountainsfalling to the sea, has a California air to it. But an unusual cold spell, pow-ered by northeast winds from Siberia, brought snow to Yalta. Bowls of hotborscht with sour cream helped me survive until it was time to take the trainto Kiev, where I boarded my flight back to Los Angeles.

ccording to the view of main-stream historians, primitivecivilization in Mesopotamia,

Egypt, and in India emerged from thestone age just over five thousandyears ago.

Just a few centuries after what theexpert s say w as the fi rst great laborsaving invention of the ancient w orld, the w heel, society crossed a major di -vide and headed inexorably towardthe modern wor ld. The wheel, we aretold, revolutionized prim iti ve society

and set the stage for the great achieve-ments which w ere to follow .Such is the conventional scenario

for t he dawn of ci vilization on Earth .The assumption i s, that the rise ofhighly organized society w as unprece-dented. If there had been an earl ieradvanced civili zation, we would havediscovered unmistakable evidencehighw ays, and br idges and electr icalw iring; plastic bott les, cit y dumps, and CD Roms. Those, aft er all , arethe things which w e wil l leave topuzzle future archeologists.

But could an ancient civili zationhave risen to heights simi lar to our

own and, perhaps, have traveled a dif-ferent road? Would w e understand aworld which might have employedfundamentally dif ferentthough noless effect ivetechniques to harnessthe forces of nature? Would we un-derstand, for example, the transmis-sion of energy by means other than a power grid, rapid transit w ithout i nternal com-bustion engines, or highly complex calculations involving earth science and astronomyw ithout electronic computers? Have we been surrounded by evidence of such ancientadvancements, but not yet, advanced enough ourselves to grasp t he astoundingimplications.

Now a breakthrough video from the creators of Atlanti s Risingmagazine takes alook at real evidencelargely ignored by the academic establ ishment which shattersthe orthodox scenario for the dawn of civilization on Earth. he longer an artifact remainsupon the surface of the

earth, the more natural it be-comes for us to believe thatit is the property of eve-

ryonean emblem of humanit ys his-tory on the planet. This is certainlytrue of the structures on the Giza pla-teau of Egypt, where Sphinx and pyra-mids continue to evoke memories andmysteries after thousands of years, even to people who have not visitedthe site personally. New constructionon this ancient site raises questionsand concerns which should beexplored.

Since the beginning of 2002, thiswriter and a European team of investi-

gators and explorers have been re-cording the construction of a massivesystem of walls around the historic py-ramidal sites and the larger unexca-vated area of Giza, Egyptin total, anarea covering approximately eightsquare kilometers. Why build thesemassive walls at this time?

Certainly Giza is one of t he finest ar-chaeological zones of the world. Since1991, when masks of gold and otherartifacts were found in workerstombs, the whole area has been espe-cially sensitive towards undergroundexploration and the possible discoveryof a vast treasury of history. Are therenew treasures of ancient Egypt yet tobe uncovered that require sophisti-cated technology and surveillance plat-forms to protect the ongoing researchalong the Giza plateau? Has, perhaps,an area been discovered that show stracings of rare earths and unique min-erals? Or is it simply, as some officialsare claiming, a move to protect the pla-teau from terrorists and control themasses of tourists visiting the area?

    Co ntinue d o n Pa ge 5 9

TThe details of this new construct ion

suggest an initiative that is both multi-purpose and grand in scale: the wallnear Nazlat al Salman wil l be, at a min-imum, 7 meters (23 feet) high. Aresuch measures solely for crowd con-trol?

The w alls have been buil t in stages.Images taken in February of 2002 re-veal the walls extending far out intothe desert where, for the most part, they have not been noticeable to theaverage visitor . The walls have beencarefully constructed on a deep andwide foundation, at least 2 meters (6feet) below ground, with iron rodpoles poised to support the concreteinterfaces, with room for a special at-tachable cover at the top. All in all this

suggests a gargantuan w all.The major Wall starts about 90 me-ters (100 yards) to the south of theSound and Light show , near three smallbuildings. There are three major walls, generally of the same height: One runsalong the village of Nazlat al Salmanand the adjoining farming area, ex-tending out to Abusir; a second wallruns north-south some 10 to 30 kilome-ters (5-20 miles) into the desert; a thirdwall to the south of the area runs eastto w est. No wall i s needed on the northside of the Giza area because of precar-

ious cliffs, nor in the west because othe vast desert.

Several homes in the area were removed to make room for the Wall, buta mosque w as spared when local vil lageinhabitants protested.

The Wall is homogeneous and itsmanner of construction does not varyfrom location to location. The basicfoundations are built of poured concrete on an elongated baseline that ensures a ground plan width of close to ameter (40 inches) at the base. Portionswere poured quickly in 3 by 2.5 meter(10 foot by 8 foot) sections. With thistype of construction another wall couldbe put flush on the inside or outside ifan additional parallel wall wereneeded. The parallel wall encasements

would be very durable and are similarto those used to protect the locationsof sensiti ve electroni c equipment.

A new building constructed on twolevels w it h glass as a possible observation place for the monitoring of touristsis another striking addition to the siteBuilt west of the Fayoom road, betweenthe Khephren pyramid and the pyramidof Menkaura, it prevents entrance bytourists.

But today ma-chines handle all of these heavy liftingand moving jobs and we have lost ourperspective. I had a conversation witha friend last night about these issuesand I was trying to explain why theEgyptians could not have built the

Great Pyramid w ith primiti ve tools andtechniques.

He was skeptical until he recalledan event that quickly shifted his atti-tude. I was telling him that I would bewilling to concede that the builderscould handle the millions of 2.5-tonblocks if he would deal with theproblem of the 70-ton megaliths overthe Kings Chamber. The light w ent onin his head. He suddenly became ani-mated as he told me how he and agroup of friends were faced withmoving a heavy pool table. They posi-tioned themselves about it, shoulder toshoulder, and gave the old heave-ho.

It came as a great surprise when thepool table remained rooted to thefloor. They could not lift it up evenone inch. My point sank in. Youcannot use manpower to lift a 70-tonblock of granite up and out of thequarry and onto a sledge. The task in-creases exponentially when we con-sider how 100-ton blocks were hoistedup and positioned more than 20 feetoff t he ground in the Sphinx Temple. This is an engineering and physicsproblem that cannot be overcome bynumbers, which is how Egyptologiststry to solve it. Granite is very dense

and a 20-foot long block can weigh 70tons. How many men can be stationedaround it t o att empt a lift ? Maybe fift y,which is not even enough manpowerto hoi st up 10 tons.

This is an intractable problem thatwill never go away. As long as Egyptol-ogists insist that men lifted up the cy-clopean blocks of stone with nothingbut brute force and ropes, thisproblem will need to be overcome. The rest of their construction formulais moot until this primary obstacle isdealt with. If they cannot or will notprove that it was accomplished as theyclaim, then it is time to go beyond

challenging the rest of their baselesstheories. We need to discard thewhole orthodox house of cards andwalk away f rom the so-called debate.

Returning to the 350-ton cyclopeanmonsters, our highest-rated commer-cial cranes are near their lim it w ith thisload. If anyone thinks that men, ropesand sledges lifted and hauled loads thatour heaviest equipment can barelyhandle, I will argue that this belief is asign of technological illiteracy. crew in a logging town. I came toknow about handling heavy loads andwhat a front-end loader could li ft and adouble flatbed logging truck couldhaul.

During the course of my th irt y yearsof investigations into the mysteries ofancient civilizations, I have often beenmystified by the way people react tocyclopean blocks of stone being movedlong distances or hoisted up into the

air. It was often with a blank look or ashrug that said, Okay, whats the bigdeal? This response frustrated me and Ifelt like I was not communicating thescope and dif ficult y of the problem ade-quately. But I have since realized thatthe reason most people do not graspthe magnitude of the problem andwhat the real enigmas of our planetare has to do with simple, directexperience.

mining operations since the federalhighway load limit is 40 tons and thetruck weighs more than that without aload. I was watching it being putthrough its paces in the local open-pit,copper mine in Bisbee, Arizona. A

tary about a bridge that collapsedwhile a train was traveling over it. Iwent through a mental process similarto t he one at t he copper mine.

Locomotives, diesel or steam, weigh about 200 tons. They arerugged, hard working, heavy-dutypieces of machinery. There are manycyclopean blocks in Egypt and Peruthat weigh as much as a locomotive. Amonstrous crane was brought in to

fish the locomotive out of the river.Imagine placing a locomotive on bareearth or sand. What would happen? Itwould immediately sink into theground. There is a good reason that

are not known for being mechanicallyinclined nor are they the ones doingthe sweat labor during excavations outin the field. I t is ext raordinaril y easy toput pen to paper and make a 100-tonblock of stone move from the quarryup onto a temple wall. It is impossibleto meet t hat challenge in t he real w orldusing manpower unaided by modernequipment.

The fact is that Egyptologist Mark

Lehner discovered th is years ago whenhe put an expert team together to tryand raise a 35-ton obelisk using ancienttools and techniques. It was filmed byNOVA. A master stonemason w asbrought in to quarry the granite blockfrom the bedrock. Unfortunately, hegave up after trying every trick heknew. They called a bulldozer in,which cut it away from the bedrockand lifted it onto a waiting truck. Thatwas really the end of the experiment, and it proved that it was not possibleto quarry and lift a block one-tenth thesize of the heaviest obelisk stillstanding in Egypt .

Wh at Mor e Pr oof is Needed?Lehner never again tried to use the

ancient tools to prove how the pyra-mids were constructed. In a later ex-periment aimed at showing that a 20-

train tracks are built on a gravel bedthat has railroad ties laid down cross-w ise beneath the steel t racks.

Could several thousand men pull thelocomotive across the sand? That is ex-tremely doubtful. Some kind of hard-packed road would have been con-structed to take the weight and lessenthe t remendous drag. As we saw aboveour modern highways only hold upunder loads less than 40 tons. The av-

erage 18-wheel tractor-trailer haulsabout 20 tons. So it is obvious thatloads exceeding 20 tons are indeedvery heavy. Those kinds of loads werehauled all over Egypt. Where is the evi-

dence that the necessaryroads were installed? Theywould not have disap-peared since they wouldhave been made out ofstones and brick masonry.

Assuming a few of theancient stone-block trans-port roads have been un-covered, they are perfectto test the orthodoxsledge-hauling theory.

The problem of howthe ancients moved theheaviest loads is quiteenough to crush the or-thodox building theoriesand time lines into dust inmy estimation. Academics
