“-April 2012 Undercurrent diver review ”

The Atlantic Azores has a great staff attentive to all wishes. Tubbataha features large fish, 7-8 sharks per dive, white tips, black tips, grey reef sharks, schools of barracuda and jacks, and balls of more than 100 fish. A truly protected park in the middle of the Sulu Sea.

“If the Garden of Eden were underwater, it’s a fair chance it would look a lot like Tubbatah Reef.”

“Super-size your dive experi-ence at Tubbataha where ev-erything comes in giant form. The water is exceptionally clean, so the marine life lives much longer, making it grow to silly proportions.”

Located in the Sulu Sea east of the Philippines’ Palawan Island, Tubbataha Reefs Nat-ural Park is a world-class yet rarely-visited dive spot home to 573 species of fish, 373 spe-cies of corals, 11 species of sharks, and 12 species of dol-phins. In 2012, CNNgo.com named Tubbataha one of the world’s top 10 dive spots.

Tubbataha Reef

“Named after the Sanskrit word for peace, aman, and the Tagalog word for island, Amanpulo is a serene retreat offering the pure white sands, turquoise seas and endless blue skies for which the Philippine archipelago is famed. The entire island of Pamalican is dedicated to Amanpulo, fringed by seven square kilometres of pristine coral reef and lapped by the tranquil Sulu Sea.” -AmanResorts.com/Amanpulo

Enjoy two luxurious nights at this exclusive resort, named one of the world’s top 20 beach resorts in Andrew Harper’s 2009 Hideaway Report.

“A haven of tranquility and barefoot luxury in the waters of the Sulu Sea.” -Daily Telegraph (Australia)

TRAVEL ITINERARY

This journey will include a visit to a Sea-cology project site in the island-village of Manamoc, just a short boat ride from Amanpulo. With no other source of electricity, villag-ers depended for years on three diesel-fueled generators which were expensive and unreliable. In 2009, Seacology agreed to fund the instal-lation of solar panels on com-munity facili-ties like school houses and a health center in exchange for the islanders’ support for a 267-acre marine protected area.
