or stay in your own Private Lodge...

Around our Scottish estate, on a hill above Pitlochry, we have created a collection of luxury self catering cottages, lodges and apartments.

In the seclusion of our former walled garden our modern lodges are holiday homes built to the highest standards and individually decorated giving each its own individual character.

We have 3 holiday apartments in Highways, a unique building, which has been completely remodelled within the listed Art Deco exterior.

The Herb Garden Bothy is tucked away in the secluded, walled herb garden and is the perfect romantic hideaway. Drive into your own secret garden, with parking, and walk through fragrant flowers to your front door.

We also have some one-of-a-kind holiday cottages including the iconic Gate Lodge, which stylishly sits at the entrance to the Atholl Palace Hotel and estate. Our Garden Cottage is a charming wooden bungalow next to the former walled garden and this too we have furnished uniquely for our guests.

The Manor House at Atholl Palace

Set on a plateau at Corriebruach just south-west of the hotel, the Manor House was originally built in 1871 for the owners of the hotel.

This former Victorian mansion has now been considerably upgraded to offer a relaxing, peaceful haven with up to ten rooms finished to a high standard within very easy walking distance from the main hotel, but also with separate vehicular access and parking.

The secluded location benefits from plenty natural light whilst retaining a certain solitude, ideal for letting as a complete unit for up to 20 persons, or individually according to choice

Gardens are good for the Soul.. .

Recreating the glorious gardens that were part of the original vision for the Atholl Palace has been a particularly important passion of ours at the hotel. Our gardeners’ hard work and imaginative planting has been rewarded with several prizes from the Pitlochry in Bloom Competition over the last few years.

The gardens have been developed with walkways and seats to encourage all, both hotel guests and day visitors, to relax and enjoy the abundant wildlife and array of plants and colour.

The remarkable specimen trees, planted as the hotel was being built from 1874, have been described as “an undiscovered arboretum”, and are part of Perthshire’s Big Tree Country.

The formal gardens, at the front of the Hotel, are a constant blaze of colour throughout the summer. They offer a unique setting for photographs, a quiet drink or romantic strolls.

Gardeners Innes Smith and Kenny MacPherson are happy to talk to you about their work as you stroll around the gardens and enjoy the experience. Innes also writes a monthly diary on our website www.athollpalace.com if you would like to keep up with progress in the garden.

Tranquility.. .

...is the way we must regularly stop whatever it is we are doing and devote our attention to eating. At Atholl Palace this becomes an ultimate pleasure. Delight in a delicious breakfast feast with a view, and choose from lunch on the lawn, afternoon tea or drinks by the fireside or dinner in our restaurant.

Our head chef prepares menus daily choosing seasonal food and herbs grown in our very own gardens and we are happy to prepare specialist dishes for any occasion, catering to all dietary requirements.

Discover the history behind the Atholl Palace in our museum...

On June 7th, 1878, The Athole Hydropathic officially opened. Established initially as a centre for healing and restoration, the Atholl Palace was later transformed into a modern hotel. For over 130 years the hotel has welcomed guests and even housed two prestigious schools during the World Wars.

An entertaining 15 minute film charts the story of the Atholl Palace celebrating those who built, worked and visited the hotel. It includes original footage made by the Leys School Film Society during their time at the hotel in the 1940s.

Rooms have been set up, with audio stories, in accordance with the original hotel plans, to show the working and guest life of the Victorian Hydropathic establishment.

With first hand accounts and an array of photographs and artwork the museum brings to life its long and colourful history.

Situated on the garden level, the museum welcomes visitors from 10am to 5pm daily.
