Steps Needed to Play Sports in College Step 1: Make sure you have registered

for the NCAA Eligibility Center at the end of your Sophomore year. Come by the College Center to do so!

There is a $70 fee to register. However, it can be waived if you participate in the free/reduced lunch program.

Steps Needed to Play Sports in College Step 2: Once you have registered on

the website, your transcript will be uploaded on the Eligibility website. Note: Your final transcript must be requested upon graduation, in order for it to be uploaded on the website.

Steps Needed to Play Sports in College Step 3: Make sure you keep your

grades up and familiarize yourself with the admission criteria for the college/university you plan to play for.

Steps Needed to Play Sports in College Step 4: Make sure you take the SAT or

ACT the end of your Junior year. If you are on the free/reduced lunch program, you can receive a fee waiver. In addition, you can send your scores electronically to the Eligibility Center.

Steps Needed to Play Sports in College Step 5: Stay on top of the sliding scale

requirements. Remember, your GPA has to match in relation to what you score on the SAT or ACT. So, the higher your GPA, the lower your test score has to be.

For those entering college in 2016, the scale requirements have changed for Div. I.

In 2018, the sliding scale will change for Div. II

Steps Needed to Play Sports in College Step 6: Make sure you abide by all NCAA

contact rules. You cannot have any contact with a coach during a dead period!

Steps Needed to Play Sports in College Step 7: Make sure you sign by the designated

deadline: Basketball (and all other sports) Regular

Period—April 15th

Steps Needed to Play Sports in College Step 8: Be sure to request that your

FINAL transcript be sent to the Eligibility Center upon graduating from Wagner

Waiting until the last minute could potentially result in you not playing at your college!

Eligibility Requirements Sixteen (16) core courses are required Ten (10) core courses must be completed

before the seventh semester (before senior year); seven (7) of the 10 must be in English, math or science.

These grades are LOCKED in at the start of the seventh semester (senior year) so you cannot repeat a class to improve your GPA.

GPA MUST be a minimum of a 2.3 in your core-courses

Academic Redshirt 16 core courses and the core-course

GPA must be a minimum of 2.0 You could potentially receive athletics

aid and practice; however YOU CANNOT PLAY!!!
