Facebook: IPMS/Granite State Modelers Club GSMC/IPMS meets the third Monday night (4 th Monday in Jan & Feb) of each month from 7 to 9 PM at the Nashua Public Library, 2 Court Street Nashua, New Hampshire. Visitors are welcome to attend. Monthly show and tell pictures are posted on our website. Website maintained by Brandon Clifton. Club Officers: President: Mac Johnston (603-648-2244) [email protected] Vice President: Keith Touchette (603-578-9231) [email protected] Secretary/Chapter Contact: Rodney Currier (603-726-3876) [email protected] Treasurer: Edward Mele IV (603-626-0923) [email protected] Meeting Reminders: 2016 Meeting Dates: May 16, June 20, July 18 Business Report At our April meeting, we talked about the Hooksett Lions Club Train show and asked for volunteers. On April 24, Mac Johnston, Ed Mele, Tony D’Anjou, and I manned our tables. We supervised about two dozen young modelers in building their Ford Mustang kits. Tony brought an extensive assortment of his model masterpieces for the show crowd to enjoy looking at and many asked a lot of questions. We handed out a good number of Granitecon flyers to those interested. As the day progressed, Paul Lessard, Guy Lessard and Pete Davis stopped by to chat and make sure we had things under control. Once again, our “customers” were astonished to learn we were providing the kits and our services for free! We are also putting on a “make and take” for the Nashua Police Athletic League on May 14 th from 10 AM to 1 PM. They have invited 25 youngsters to take part. We will be using the kits we purchased from Hobby Emporium for this. They are the older kits that take longer than the later “build and play” types, so be prepared. If you were one of those that volunteered, don’t forget! I have to work, so I can’t be there. Don’t leave your fellow club members short-handed! The address is: 52 Ash Street in Nashua. This will be a busy weekend for many, as the 14 th is the “make and take,” the 15 th is the North Shore Show, and our meeting is the 16 th ! Keith Touchette wants everyone to start selling those trophy packs for Granitecon, and to start bringing in items for the Granitecon raffle. The sooner the trophy packs are sold, the sooner we can relax about the show finances. Tom Shanahan will once again notify area restaurants about the show before the contest. According to those who attended Downeastcon in Maine, the weather was good, the turnout was good, and the judging was better than in past years. All were impressed. AMPS didn’t get the numbers they were expecting. There were maybe 400 models on the tables, and the lighting was improved over last time. Lots of vendors, but a smaller turnout. This month, we may get reports on Can Am Con and Noreastcon. I know John and Icie Cook were there and took hardware home. They were in the video I saw posted by the sponsoring club! Pete Davis said that on June 4 th the 2 nd Annual Train Show will be held in Bartlett, NH at Attitash. Double Play Hobbies in Milford bought a collection of 300 kits they are offering for sale. Mac talked to them at the Hooksett show and they may come and be a vendor at Granitecon. Club member Chuck Converse has also bought a collection of older kits from a customer of his and will list them and bring the list to the meeting this month. ‘The Instruction Sheet’ I.P.M.S. / Granite State Modelers Club Nashua, New Hampshire Newsletter: May, 2016 www.granitestatemodelersclub.org Email: [email protected]

Our last item of business was the annual club picnic/BBQ. We have decided to hold it in August. A few members have volunteered their places if the date agrees with their calendars. Vinnie Farruggio lives in Manchester, Tom Shanahan is in Nashua, Pete Davis has a place in Loudon, Mac is in Salisbury, NH, and I live in Thornton, NH. It all depends on how far people will travel. This month we firm up a date and place. The past years we have had a great time getting to know each other and our families outside of the monthly meeting. Doc Wiseman has resigned as our IPMS Region 1 Coordinator. If anyone is interested in learning about the position, let me know and I will contact information. As it is now May, club dues are now over-due. Still only $12 per year! Either see me or Ed at the meeting or send me a check with your correct information. If I have your correct e-mail addresses and phone numbers you won’t miss out on any between meetings notifications. See you Monday! Participating Hobby Shops These are the hobby shops that support us and our efforts year after year. They give club members discounts, provide donations for club contests, and stock the supplies and new kits we crave. Please support them, too!
