observed that “God

is performance. The
Orion was named
after the constella-

the constellation,
there is more to
the Orion UDP than

have learned a lot

in doing so, have
earned the respect

Image scaling
option will scale
the image to the
resolution of the
display.
The old paradigm used to be a single source - camera or computer - assigned to a single monitor. The new “performance-
oriented” paradigm views the screen as available display real estate and allows you to allocate space for up to eight input
signals, and size and position them according to your preference. Allocate display real estate in your own order of dynamic
priority on a real-time basis.
RTEV features:
Low Light
Equalized
Histogram
Shape Detection
Filters
Convolution Kernels
Chroma Key
The chroma key
feature is used to
combine images,
with all or part of
one visible image
over the other.
This very flexible
device is used to
overlay graphics on
graphics, e.g.
a HUD on an
OTW display for
simulators.
Once again, Z Microsystems has stopped
revolutionary thinking in its tracks by offering
the revolutionary RTEV (Real-Time Enhanced
Video) capabilities.
This unique display technology shatters
benchmarks in every respect and offers:
1. Dynamic Target Histogram based equalization
for extracting imagery from low level light video
(including “on-the-fly programmable” leveling
and windowing).
2. Spatial low-pass filtering for random
noise reduction of both the luminance and
chrominance components of the video.
3. Laplacian edge enhancement of the
luminance component of the video for increasing
the clarity of edges in a selected image area.
4. The real-time image enhancement can be
programmed to implement customer specific
image processing functions.
5. Advanced de-interlacing functions include
processing based motion adaptive enhancement
for removal of motion artifacts (such as tearing
and jaggies).
6. Real-time image enhancement can be
performed on either the entire NTSC/PAL video
image or a resizable window inside of the
NTSC/PAL video image.
7. Includes the hardware to support future
capability for the FPGA to be downloaded via
the microcontroller, using the FPGA’s JTAG port.
Z Microsystems’ intelligent configurable display technology inspires confidence. RTEV assists the user with intelligent real-
time image enhancement in difficult or extreme conditions. It works quickly and transparently. You can set it to make minute
or substantial enhancements on critical and challenging video inputs.
You can arrange
the PiP windows
any way you like.
Place the PiPs
symmetrically,
or organically
separated or even
overlapping.

SoftMenus™
The Orion UDP
affords tremendous
practicality in its
performance and
setup. With an
intelligent, remote or
local, user-friendly
GUI the user can
independently
configure up to eight
PiPs (Picture-in-
Pictures).
You can set custom
color, brightness,
layers, chroma key
control, scale, power,
zoom, horizontal/
vertical positioning
and more.
Then, save and recall
your settings either
manually or with
SoftMenus.
Intelligent Control
Settings can be
accessed easily with
minimal distraction
from the task at hand
either from buttons
on the front of the
display, from the
primary host computer
or remotely across the
network.
Firmware Upgrades
SoftMenus takes
managing firmware
upgrades to a new
experience and
becomes as simple
as receiving an
e-mail or visiting
Z Microsystems’
website, ensuring
future-proof solutions
for end-of-life
concerns.
So intent were Z Microsystems engineers on enhancing the user’s viewing experience that they developed SoftMenus to
also enable network administrators to perform software upgrades from one central location rather than attending to each
individual display.
No matter what mission you are on, all displays on the network can be prioritized and managed by the network administrator
and reset to mission-specifi c settings at the touch of a button.

SMARTtracker can track hundreds of displays
simultaneously. With embedded intelligence,
SMARTtracker contains the organization’s rel-
evant security rules, as well as factory data, user
setup, logistics data and history log. Organization
managers and commanders can access the data
at any time by simply querying the system with
“Where is it?”, “Who has it?” and “How is it?”
SMARTtracker also provides the information
to help estimate life expectancy and manage
display inventory. User definable programming
provide single touch user preferences.
SMARTtracker
SMARTtracker is something special: the crystallization of our best ideas in the advancement of net-centric environments that
leverage technology to connect troops and their operations.
The SMARTtracker feature can be considered an on-board diagnostic system that continuously monitors the display’s
performance and can provide early warning of potential faults or developing defects.

Impeccably designed, meticulously engineered and precision manufactured to the last component,
the Orion UDP is built to last.
Design details Configuration matrix
An “O” ring gasket provides an
additional barrier between moisture
and the electronics.
Rack mounting alignment pins ensure
quick alignment of the display in the
desired position on the RETMA rails.
Machine head screws hold the display
firmly to the rack mounting bracket.
Ergonomically sculpted handles
allow comfortable user interaction for
extended periods.
This spring loaded catch releases the
removable protective lens and enables
it to slide out.
There are no after-thoughts on the Orion UDP. An integrated groove retains the removable protective lens. Use the spring loaded catch on the front to release and slide out the lens.
Great consideration has been given
to installation. The Orion UDP can
be mounted to any 19”, 24” rack or
console using a selection of precision
machined rack adapter brackets.
These brackets are available in
various configurations depending on
the installation.
A Navy rack mounting bracket is also
available and custom requirements
can be produced.
A synchronized, integrated vision system that provides net-centric information assurance.
