Tickets On Sale for 2018 Big 12 Conference Wrestling ChampionshipTickets for the 2018 Big 12 Conference Wrestling Championship are on sale now. Tickets are available online at www.bokcenter.com, Arby’s Box Office at BOK Center, or by calling 1-866-7-BOKCTR. The all-session tickets include all four sessions of the championship. The Championship takes place March 3-4, 2018, at the BOK Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

NDSU Upsets No. 12 Cornell to Highlight 3-1 Run at South Beach DualsNorth Dakota State University 285-pounder Dan Stibral won the final bout and the Bison upset No. 12-ranked Cornell 20-16, but lost 22-18 to No. 22 Rider on Dec. 29 ... NDSU then won 14 bouts overall including five tech falls, four pins and a major decision in rolling to a 34-10 win over Franklin & Marshall and 31-10 victory over Columbia on Dec. 30 at the South Beach Duals at the Deerfield Beach Sportsplex ... Three NDSU wrestlers, No. 23-ranked 133 Cam Sykora, 149 Kyle Gliva and No. 19 165 Andrew Fogarty completed the South Beach Duals with 4-0 records, while No. 15 157 Clay Ream went 3-0, and 125 Paul Bianchi and 197 Cordell Eaton both com-piled 3-1 records ... The Bison compiled a 3-1 record in the two-day event.

NDSU 197 Cordell Eaton Places Fourth at Reno Tournament of ChampionsNorth Dakota State 197-pounder Cordell Eaton placed fourth at the Reno Tournament of Champions on Nov. 17. NDSU was seventh in the team standings with 77.5 points. Eaton, a redshirt sophomore from Long Grove, Iowa, lost a 10-6 decision to Cal Poly’s Tom Lane in the semifinals after winning three straight matches. NDSU 133 Cam Sykora reeled off five straight tech falls after suffering a 6-3 loss to North Carolina State’s Tariq Wilson.

Utah Valley Takes Down NDSU 26-13Utah Valley opened with a pin and won seven bouts including six straight during one stretch to defeat North Dakota State 26-13 in a Big 12 Conference dual Dec. 15, before 518 spectators in Lockhart Arena. NDSU 133 Cam Sykora, 149 Kyle Gliva and No. 15-ranked 157 Clay Ream picked up wins.

Bison Win Final Two Bouts to Edge No. 18 Central MichiganNorth Dakota State 197-pounder Cordell Eaton and heavyweight Dan Stibral closed with wins to lift the Bison to a 19-16 win over No. 18 Central Michigan in a non-conference dual Dec. 10, before 440 spectators in the Scheels Center. Eaton exploded for eight points in the third on a pair of takedowns and 2-point nearfall for a 13-5 major decision. Stibral trailed 285 Matt Stencel 1-0 before completing a takedown with 6-seconds remaining in the second period. Stibral gained an early escape for a 3-1 lead and fought off Stencel down the stretch.

Fogarty Places Fifth at Cliff Keen Las Vegas InvitationalNorth Dakota State 165-pounder Andrew Fogarty placed fifth at the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invi-tational Dec. 1-2, at the Las Vegas Convention Center. The Bison were in 18th place in the team standings with 43 points. Fogarty put together a 7-2 record including one pin.

No. 3 Oklahoma State Defeats NDSUNo. 3-ranked Oklahoma State won nine of 10 matches including two falls and three tech falls to defeat North Dakota State 40-3 in a Big 12 Conference dual on Nov. 26 before 1,511 spectators in Scheels Center. NDSU 157-pounder Clay Ream recorded the lone win for the Bison with a 3-2 decision over Jonce Blaylock.

Bison Drop Road Duals at No. 8 Iowa, No. 13 Northern IowaNorth Dakota State opened the dual portion of its schedule on the road. No. 8-ranked Iowa defeated the Bison 38-6 on Nov. 17. Paul Bianchi was the lone winner for NDSU at 125 pounds. North Dakota State dropped a 21-19 decision to No. 13 Northern Iowa in a Big 12 Conference dual on Nov. 19 that came down to the final match. Native Iowans, 133 McGwire Midkiff and 197 Cordell Eaton, each posted wins for the Bison along with 157 Clay Ream, 165 Andrew Fogarty and 285 Dan Stibral.

Fogarty, Eaton Each Claim Third Bison Open TitlesNorth Dakota State 165-pounder Andrew Fogarty and 197 Cordell Eaton each won their third title, while 157-pounder Clay Ream claimed his second at the 47th annual Bison Open on Nov. 11 before 647 spectators at Scheels Center. NDSU notched a champion for the 11th straight season. First-time Bison Open champions were 141 Sam Hampton and 285 Dan Stibral.

NDSU 165 Fogarty, 285 Metz Third at Warren Williamson/Daktronics OpenNorth Dakota State 165-pounder Andrew Fogarty and unattached 285 Brandon Metz each placed third to highlight the NDSU effort on Nov. 5, at the Warren Williamson/Daktronics Open hosted by South Dakota State . Four of the 13 NDSU wrestlers competing placed in the top five overall. Joining Fogarty and Metz were unattached 133-pounder Sawyer Degen, who placed fourth, and unattached 174 Jesse Shearer, who finished fifth.

Roger KishHead CoachSeventh Season

(Minnesota, 2008) Roger Kish is in his seventh season as head coach of the North Dakota State wrestling team. He is the fourth head coach in the 60-year history of the Bison wrestling program. He has a 58-44 overall record including 23-12 in the Big 12 Conference (6-8) and Western Wrestling Conference (17-4) duals. He spent two years as an assistant wrestling coach at NDSU prior to taking the head coaching position for the 2011-12 season. Kish led the Bison to a fourth place finish at the Big 12 Championships last season. Josh Rodriguez was Big 12 runner-up at 125 pounds and Clay Ream placed second at 157 pounds both placed third. Ream was NCAA Elite 90 Award winner for the second year in a row at the 2017 NCAA Wrestling Championships in St. Louis. Kish has directed the Bison to a pair of NCAA West Regional/Western Wrestling Conference championships (2014, 2015) and two WWC regular season titles (2013, 2015). Kish is a three-time WWC Coach of the Year award and the Bison have produced 17 NCAA West Region/WWC individual champions. Four wrestlers, Trent Sprenkle (2013, 125/5th), Steven Monk (2014, 165/3rd), Kurtis Julson (2015, 174/8th) and Hayden Zillmer (2015, 184/6th) have earned All-American honors. Kish joined the NDSU program after a success-ful wrestling career at the University of Minnesota. Kish was a graduate assistant for the Gophers in 2008-09. A Lapeer, Mich. native, he was a two-time All-American and two-time NCAA runner-up for the Gophers at 184 pounds. He had a career record of 117-27 for the Gophers. As a sophomore, he went 35-7 en route to a Big Ten title and an NCAA runner-up finish. In his junior season, Kish was 37-3 and was the Big Ten and national runner-up. He was also a team captain. Kish graduated from Minnesota in May 2008 with a bachelor’s degree in business and marketing education. He was also a two-time cadet national cham-pion and also captured a USA Wrestling junior national title. At Lapeer West High School, he was a four-time Michigan state champion. Kish is the son of Roger and Brenda Kish. His older brother, James, wrestled at North Carolina.
