1. Read Mark 9:14-29. Why are the disciples and the

crowd in an argument?

2. What is significant about the phrase, “If you can…”

since Jesus repeated it?

3. What is the connection between faith and prayer?

4. Read Mark 9:30-32. Why did the disciples struggle

with the truth that Jesus must die?

5. Why do you think it was important that Jesus was

killed, not just die an ordinary death?

6. Read Mark 9:33-41. How is servant leadership dif-

ferent than the leadership often seen today?

7. If servant leadership was the norm, how would our

world be different?

8. Read Mark 9:42-50. Why is it so important in under-

standing the good news to also understand about sin?
