NAPLANOnlineThisyearourschoolwilltransitiontoNAPLANonlineforstudentsinYears3and5.NAPLANOnlinewillprovidebetterassessmentofliteracyandnumeracyskills,morepreciseresultsandfasterretrievalofinformation.NAPLANOnlineenablesstudentstocompleteNAPLANassessmentsonschooldevices.This‘tailoredtesting’willprovidestudentsquestionsthataremoresuitedtotheirability–resultinginbetterassessmentandmorepreciseresults.Year3studentswillstillcompleteapaperwritingassessment.ToprepareforNAPLANOnline,studentswillparticipateinaschoolpracticetoallowstudentsanopportunitytobecomefamiliarwiththeformatandonlinetestquestionsfromthe25March.
TheassessmentwindowforNAPLANOnlinewillstartonTuesday14May(Term2,Week3)andfinishonFriday24May2019.Thistimeframewillallowschoolsmoreflexibilityinschedulingandaccommodatingdevices.Aninformationsheethasbeenattached.FurtherinformationregardingNAPLANOnlinewillbedistributedtofamilieswithstudentsinYears3and5laterintheterm.

TellThemFromMeSurveysThisterm,ourschool,likemanyotherpublicschoolsinthestate,willparticipateinaDepartmentofEducationinitiative:theTellThemFromMestudentfeedbacksurvey.Thesurveymeasuresfactorsthatareknowntoaffectacademicachievementandotherstudentoutcomes.ThefocusoftheNSW-widesurveyisonstudentwellbeing,engagementandeffectiveteachingpractices.Moreinformationaboutthesurveyisavailableat:http://surveys.cese.nsw.gov.auThesurveyisagreatopportunityforourstudentstoprovideuswithvaluableandquickfeedbackonwhattheythinkaboutschoollife,howengagedtheyarewithschoolandthedifferentwaysthatteachersinteractwiththem.Morethan6,300schoolsinAustraliaandaroundtheworldhaveusedTellThemFromMetosurvey5.4millionstudents.Capturingthevoicesofourstudentswillhelpimprovehowwedothingsatourschool.Iwanttoassureyouthatthesurveyisconfidential.Thesurveyisconductedonlineandwilltypicallytakelessthan30minutestocomplete.Itwillbeadministeredduringschoolhoursbetween18Marchand12April.Participatinginthesurveyisentirelyvoluntary.AconsentformandFAQsforparents/carersaboutthesurveyisbeingsenthomewithstudents.Ifyoudonotwantyourchildorchildrentoparticipate,pleasereturntheformtoschoolby15March.CopiesoftheformandFAQsareavailablefrom:http://surveys.cese.nsw.gov.au/information-for-parents.TheconsentformandFAQsareavailablein23languages.
DancefeverMultisportThisyear,allK-6studentswillbeparticipatinginarangeofexcitingphysicalactivityprogramstodevelopskillsinathletics,danceandgymnasticsthroughoutTerms2,3and4.Theseprogramshavebeenorganisedbyanexperiencedexternalprovider,‘DancefeverMultisport’.DancefeverMultisporthavebeenteachingphysicaleducationprogramsinprimaryschoolssince1999andarecurrentlyteachinginover750schoolsacrossNSW.Ourstudentswillengageina40minutelessononceaweekforthedurationofterms2,3and4.AlllessonsarealignedtothePDHPEcurriculum.Thecostfor
allthreeprogramsoverthecourseoftheyearis$71.00perstudent.Eachlessonworksoutatacostof$2.50perstudentperweek.Thisisawonderfulopportunityforstudentstoengageinessentiallearningexperiencesthatdevelopknowledge,understandingandskillsinarangeofphysicalactivity.
SchoolPhotosOurschoolphotoswilltakeplaceonWednesday13March2019.Studentsaretowearfullsummeruniformincludingblackschoolshoes.Photoenvelopeshavebeenhandedouttostudentsandwillneedtobereturnedbyphotoday.Onlinepaymentsforschoolphotosaremadedirectlywiththeschoolphotographer.Studentsnotpurchasingphotosarealsoaskedtoreturntheirenvelope.Siblingphotoswillalsobetakenonthisdayforsiblingsattheschool.Siblingphotoenvelopescanbecollectedfromthefrontoffice.
MindQuest2019OnSaturday6and7April2019,theNSWGiftedandTalentedEnrichmentWeekend(MindQuest)willbeheldforstudentsfromYears1–6atStGeorgeGirlsHighSchool.Studentswillhaveanopportunitytoparticipateinover37exciting,facedpacedcoursesinthetwo-dayprogram.Theyincludecoursesinchemistry,earthsciencesart,dramaandcreativecartooning.Thecostoftheweekendis$200.TheclosingdateforallapplicationsisFriday8March.Aninformationandapplicationformcanbecollectedfromthefrontoffice.
