Digital audio broadcastingDigital audio broadcasting (DAB) isan innovative and universalbroadcast system.

DAB stations are indicated by theprogramme name instead of thebroadcasting frequency.General information■ With DAB, several radio

programmes (services) can bebroadcast on a single frequency(ensemble).

■ As long as a given DAB receivercan pick up the signal sent out by abroadcasting station (even if thesignal is very weak), soundreproduction is ensured.

■ There is no fading (weakening ofthe sound) that is typical of AM orFM reception. The DAB signal isreproduced at a constant volume.

■ If the DAB signal is too weak to bepicked up by the receiver, receptionis interrupted completely. This canbe avoided by activating DAB AFand/or DAB FM in the audiosettings menu.

■ Interference caused by stationsthat are on nearby frequencies (aphenomenon that is typical of AMand FM reception) does not occurwith DAB.

Page 22: Astra Upustvo Za Centralnu Konzolu

Radio 21

■ If the DAB signal is reflected bynatural obstacles or buildings, thereception quality of DAB isimproved, whereas AM or FMreception is considerably impairedin such cases.

■ The reception of DAB+ stations isalso supported by the DABreceiver.

■ When DAB reception is enabled, the FM tuner of the Infotainmentsystem remains active in thebackground and continuallysearches for the best receivable FMstations. If TP 3 17 is activated, traffic announcements of the FMstation which is currently bestreceivable are issued. DeactivateTP, if DAB reception should not beinterrupted by FM trafficannouncements.

"Call"Using this command, you can input atelephone number which has beensaved in the phone book under aname (voice tag) or which is to beused to create a connection. After thiscommand, the following commandsare available:■ "Number": The connection is

created using the number entered.■ "Name": The connection is created

using the voice tag."Number"After this command has been given, you will be asked to enter the number. The Infotainment system repeats therecognised numbers. You can theninput additional numbers or thefollowing commands:

■ "Call" or "Accept": The inputs areaccepted.

■ "Change": The last block ofnumbers has been deleted.

■ "Delete": The complete input hasbeen deleted.

If there is a voice pause of more thanone second between the individualnumbers, the Infotainment systemassumes that the process of inputtingthe block of numbers has ended andrepeats the block of numbers.

In order to make a foreign call, youcan say the word "Plus" (+) in front ofthe number. The plus allows you tomake a call from that country withoutknowing the foreign dialling code forthe country in question. Then say thecountry code. The country code corresponds to theconventional format, i. e. 49 forGermany, 44 for Great Britain, etc.The "0" must be left out of the localnetwork code (dialling code) except inItaly.Example of a dialogue between theuser and voice output to dial atelephone number:User: "Call"Voice output: "Name or Number?"User: "Number"Voice output: "The number, please!"User: "Plus Four Nine"Voice output repeats: "Plus FourNine"User: "Seven Three One"Voice output repeats: "Seven ThreeOne"

The symbol q representinga voice tag appears to the right of thename. The connection is createdusing the voice tag.

"Redial"Using the "Redial" command, thenumber most recently dialled can beredialled.

"Save"Using this command, you can save atelephone number under a voice tag.Additionally the previously input voicetag in the phone book can beincluded.Voice tags can only be included in thephone book if they are saved in theInfotainment system.A maximum of 25 voice tags can bestored in the phone book. If 25 voicetags are already stored, the messageis given "The speech memory is full!".Voice tags are dependent on thespeaker, which means that only theperson who has spoken in the voicetag can select it.After three invalid attempts, thespeech recognition system is turnedoff automatically.

It can happen that the two namesinput are too different for the speechrecognition system, which thenrejects them. You can then decide ifyou want to input the names again orend the process:■ "Yes": Input the names again.■ "No"/"Cancel": The dialogue is

ended without anything beingsaved.

In order to prevent a cut-off at thebeginning of the recording whennames are being saved, a shortpause should be left after the requestfor an input. In order to be able to use the voice tagindependently of the location, i.e. inother countries, all telephonenumbers should be entered with a"Plus" and the country code.Example of a name being saved as avoice tag:User: "Call"Voice output: "Name or Number?"User: "Name"Voice output: "The name, please!
