ASTAOur lives are rich through these artists

who keep the traditions of theold masters alive through their

work, their vision and their ideals.

The American Society of Traditional Artists, (ASTA) was formed to showcase the talent of the many professional fine artists of today through the promotion of their art in an annual event. ASTA goals are to recognize the best traditional realist artists of today by creating exhibition’s and sale opportunities to our talented members. We are very proud to have several living master members in our organization.

Throughout art history great accomplishments have come from great individuals. Michelangelo, Da Vinci, Titian, Rubens, Rembrandt and Sargent are some of the better known artists whom the art loving public collectively recognize. Their accomplishments are without question. What separates these artists from most contemporary artists is their unique vision and interpretation of the visual world, combined with their obvious skill in presenting that world through their art. Yet the greatest moments in art history come from individual artists building on the traditions of their craft and applying their own unique vision.

The artists showing in this exhibition and sale demonstrate that traditions are still very much alive. Each artist lives in today’s world with a variety of contemporary life styles, all of which effect their choice of subject matter as well as the manner in which they present it. You will notice that each portrays their subject matter uniquely - not one artist makes a redundant statement or paints in the same manner of another. You will also notice impressionist and academic works as well as some that fall between the two.

These artists also represent a wide range of professional experience, some from 5 to 50 years, as well as a wide range of personal beliefs and values. I contend that these artists are very contemporary by their natures, yet bring to their work a rich heritage of artistic tradition.

Our lives are rich through these artists and others yet to be discovered, who like them, keep the traditions alive through their work, their vision and their ideals. In time, art history will sort out the great ones; however, I believe many of them are before you today in this exhibition and sale.
