O Mary, you always shine on our path as a sign of salvation and of hope. We entrust ourselves to you, Health of the Sick, who at the cross took part in Jesus’ pain, keeping your faith firm. You…know what we need, and we are sure you will provide so that, as in Cana of Galilee, we may return to joy and to feasting after this time of trial. Help us, Mother of Divine Love, to conform to the will of the Father and to do as we are told by Jesus, who has taken upon himself our sufferings and carried our sorrows to lead us, through the cross, to the joy of the resurrection. Amen. Under your protection, we seek refuge, Holy Mother of God. Do not disdain the entreaties of those of us who are in trial, but deliver us from every danger, O glorious and blessed Virgin.

Prayer to stop the coronavirus Our Father, we confidently ask that the Covid-19 does no further harm and that this epidemic can be con-trolled soon and that you return health to those affected and peace where it has reached soon. It wel-comes people who have died from this disease, comforts their families. Support and protect healthcare per-sonnel who fight it and inspire and bless those who work to control it. Lord Jesus, doctor of our souls and our bodies, we feel helpless in this situation of international health emergency, but we trust you, give us your peace and health.

TO REFLECT Some accounts of Easter, particularly the apparitions, make us real-ize how for the first companions and companion of Jesus, evil, fail-ure, violence and death do not have the last word on life, but their word Definitive is always Love. Today we live in tough times of threats and insecurities, in which our conscience and our lives are subjected to situations that we have to choose from, without often being clear on how to do it. This liturgical time is propitious to con-sider what kind of response we are giving, and from what horizon, aware that the call to become servants and witness is for this specific reality; we cannot be outside the everyday context in which we live. In our society. The crisis makes it difficult for many people to meet their needs with dignity, and gives rise to the feeling that it is not possible to meet the needs of all people. This impression increases as the deterioration of the labor market and basic services (health, edu-cation, social services) grow, the two fundamental areas through which we satisfy our needs. This situation presents us with a dilemma: we apply the logic that Jesus taught us, particularly in the multiplication of loaves and fish-es, or we let ourselves be carried away by the values of the system (egotism, individualism, competence) and we decide who deserves to satisfy our needs, since who we are going to sacrifice in order to keep going. The vision that some deserve to enjoy well-being and others do not, is reinforced by realizing that we live in a world with enormous and growing inequality, which makes millions of people live in a situa-tion of poverty and vulnerability. The easiest and most reassuring answer seems to be to blame him for his poverty, forgetting the meaning of fraternity derived from being children of God. PARA REFLEXIONAR Algunos relatos de la Pascua, en particular las apariciones, nos hacen caer en cuenta de cómo para los primeros compañeros y compañeras de Jesús el mal, el fracaso, la violencia y la muerte no tienen la última pala-bra sobre la vida, sino que su palabra definitiva siempre es Amor. Hoy vivimos tiempos recios de amenazas e inseguridades, en los que nuestra conciencia y nuestra vida se ven sometidas a situaciones ante las que te-nemos que optar, sin que muchas veces tengamos claro cómo hacerlo. Este tiempo litúrgico resulta propicio para plantearnos que tipo de res-puesta estamos dando, y desde que horizonte, conscientes de que la lla-mada a convertirnos en servidores y testigos lo es para esta realidad con-creta; no podemos serlo fuera del contexto cotidiano en que vivimos. En nuestra sociedad. La crisis hace que muchas personas experimenten dificultades para satisfacer dignamente sus necesidades, y da lugar a la sensación de que no es posible satisfacer las necesidades de todas las personas. Esta impresión aumenta conforme crece el deterioro del mer-cado de trabajo y de los servicios básicos (sanidad, educación, servicios sociales), los dos ámbitos fundamentales a través de los que satisface-mos nuestras necesidades. Esta situación nos plantea una disyuntiva: aplicamos la lógica que Jesús nos enseñó, particularmente en la multiplicación de los panes y los pe-ces, o nos dejamos llevar por los valores del sistema (egoísmo, indivi-dualismo, competencia) y decidimos quienes merecemos satisfacer nuestras necesidades, y a quienes vamos a sacrificar para poder seguir adelante. La visión de que unos merecemos disfrutar del bienestar y otros no, se refuerza al tomar conciencia de que vivimos en un mundo con una enor-me y creciente desigualdad, que hace que millones de personas, vivan en una situación de pobreza y vulnerabilidad. La respuesta más fácil y tran-quilizadora parece ser la de culpabilizarle de su situación de pobreza, de-jando en el olvido el significado de la fraternidad derivada del ser hijos de Dios. Aquí hay una de las bases de la globalización de la indiferencia que ha venido denunciando la Doctrina social de la iglesia en los últimos años, y la extensión del convencimiento de que estamos condenados a un mundo en el que el bienestar de un solo es posible a costa de la mise-ria de una parte importante de la humanidad. Tal vez deberías valorar que implica esto a la luz del significado salvador de la Pasión y Muertes de Jesús, o para la utopía del Reino de Dios, a cuyo servicio estuvo el mismo Jesús.
