The Association of Civil Engineers of Romania (A I C R) is a professional, independent, non-governmental, non-political and non-profit organisation.

AICR was founded in February 1990.

The mission of Association of Civil Engineers of Romania is to represent and protect the professional interests of civil engineers, both at national and international level.

INCREASING CIVIL ENGINEERS’ PROFESSIONAL RECOGNITION AND

AICR seeks to increase the professional recognition of Romanian civil

engineers among those who benefit from their technical expertise.

AICR sets both technical and ethical standards for civil engineers in order

to build an environment where fair competition is encouraged.

PROTECTING AND PROMOTING THE PROFESSIONAL INTERESTS OF CIVIL ENGINEERS AICR advocates for the professional and material rights of civil

engineers, needed to ensure a correct unfolding of the professional

activity.

AICR is involved in mediating and alleviating conflicts in the building

field, with the purpose of restoring harmonious commercial relations

between the designer, investor, building engineer and beneficiary.

AICR contributes to the negotiation and obtaining of advantages

regarding the procurement of professional liability insurance policies for

civil engineers.

COOPERATING WITH GOVERNMENTAL AND NON-GOVERNMENTAL BODIES, ECONOMIC, SOCIAL AND PROFESSIONAL ORGANISATIONS

AICR works together with governmental and non-governmental bodies,

economic, social and professional organisations, with the purpose of achieving common objectives.

AICR has representatives in the technical committees of technical and professional qualification, both in the branches of design and building construction.

The members of AICR are actively involved in the process of development and optimization of document norms (codes and design norms, standards, building construction codes and norms, etc.), both directly and by consulting similar associations in the country and abroad.

AICR supports local authorities in organizing and developing technical activities meant to ensure the safe usage of buildings in the event of a high intensity earthquake, considering the fact that post-earthquake technical actions require trained and experienced staff in the building domain:

• structural engineers and technicians from design institutes, firms and offices, higher education institutions, recognized research centers and institutes;

• engineers and technicians voluntarily involved in post-earthquake actions;

• engineers and/or building firms employed for specific works (urgent restoration works, demolishing works, etc.)

LIFE-LONG LEARNING

Continuous training and professional growth of civil engineering is materialized by providing courses, conferences, meetings, workshops, technical visits, etc.

AICR promotes the exchange of ideas among its members and facilitates communication with powerful engineering communities worldwide.
