The Speakers Series will be the first of its kind in Asper. We hope to bring in a series of community leaders throughout the year who understand the importance of creating, maintaining and strengthening indigenous/non-indigenous relations in the world of commerce. Speakers Series Launch September 28th, 2015 @ 6:00pm Importance of Connecting Cultures in Business Contemporary Issues in Treaty Relations James B. Wilson, Treaty Commissioner for Manitoba Commissioner James Wilson earned his B.A. at the University of Winnipeg and his M.Ed. Administration from the University of Manitoba. As commissioner, he represents the Treaty Relations Commission of Manitoba (TRCM), created through a partnership between the Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs (AMC) and Canada. The TRCM’s mandate is to strengthen, rebuild and enhance the Treaty relationship. The Association of Aboriginal Commerce Students is a student group for those who identify with or have a common interest in enhancing Indigenous culture within the Asper School of Business. As business leaders, we aim to create a sense of community by forging partnerships with organizations within and surrounding the University of Manitoba. The series will be held in the main atrium of Drake Centre (The Fishbowl) Association of Aboriginal Commerce Students Opening greetings from Ashley Richard, President to the Association of Aboriginal Commerce Students Opening prayer from Elder Harry Bone He is a member of the Keeseekoowenin Ojibway First Nation, where he served as a Chief and Director of Education. He also worked as a CEO at the West Region Tribal Council and as a Director of the Manitoba Indian Education Authority.
