TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONSThe innovative design of the Cryo Bio System Recisperme allows sperm to be collected directly into a tube, eliminating the need for sample transfer and enhancing sample qual-ity by avoiding tricky handling.

Preassembled sterile unit comprised of:• a funnel-shaped upper part;• a 10 mL tube with blue stopper;• a support base; and• an adhesive cover.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE• Once it has been labelled with the patient’s

name, weigh the device (the support base, tube and upper part or the support base, tube and connected blue stopper).

• After ejaculation directly into the vessel, the adhesive cover can be applied to guarantee that the sample remains sterile;

• Check that all the sperm has travelled from the funnel-shaped upper part to the tube;

• Then disconnect the upper part and adhesive cover from the tube and close the tube using the blue stopper.

• Weigh the device using the same configu-ration as was used to weight it before use in order to measure ejaculate volume using a sperm density of 1g/mL (WHO laboratory manual for the Examination and process-ing of human semen - Fifth edition).

• Remove the support and funnel-shaped upper part and dispose of them according to biomedical waste procedures.

Due to their special character-istics, Leja slides both save time and increase the level of accuracy and precision for semen analysis.All slides are covered with a special coating to prevent air bubble formation and to prevent semen from sticking to the chamber surface. The resin and ink used are both non-toxic.The Leja slides have an excellent low limit of quantification and can handle high sperm concentrations. HSVTM High Security Vitrification straw

DESCRIPTION / USE

Vitrification of oocytes and embryosThe kit is comprised of 3 parts:• a transparent High Security Vitrification ionomer-

ic resin straw;• a capillary tube with a transparent gutter and

co-injected colored handling rod; and• a blue insertion device.

Sterilization performed by irradiation.Individually packaged. Blister pack of 4 kits.

IDENTIFICATION

A straw identification system is available upon re-quest, comprising liquid nitrogen resistant adhesive labels and ink.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE

FILLING AND SEALING• Prepare the liquid nitrogen resistant identifica-

tion label for the HSV™ straw (maximum length: 40 mm) and apply it approximately 30 mm from the flared end of the straw; When positioned this way, the label does not cover the entirety of the colored rod or the biological sample zone.

• Connect the end of the blue insertion device to the end of the colored rod with its attached capillary. To do this, make sure you hold the rod very close to its opening with the fingertips of one hand, and the insertion device very close to its tip in the other.

• Prepare the sample for vitrification according to laboratory protocol and your medium supplier’s instructions;

• Using a micro-pipette and a binocular micro-scope, carefully deposit the sample into the gut-ter at least one millimeter from the end. The drop of sample must be as small as possible and never more than 0.5 μL. This is to avoid any contact with the outer straw. The HSV™ straw is designed to hold a single sample.

• Immediately insert the colored handling rod and capillary into the flared end of the HSV™ straw. Push until the rectangular portion of the blue in-sertion device comes into contact with the flared end of the straw.

• Carefully pinch the straw between your thumb and index finger around the colored rod and dis-connect the insertion device.

• Seal the open end of the straw using an SYMS®

seal.

Note: The time between vitrification and liquid ni-trogen immersion must not exceed the limit indi-cated by your medium supplier.

CRYOPRESERVATION• Use tongs to hold the straw’s handling rod.

Immediately plunge the entire straw into liq-uid nitrogen, holding it vertically. While keep-ing it submerged, gently stir the straw in liquid nitrogen for a few seconds so as to avoid for-mation of an isolating air bubble layer around the straw.

STORAGE IN LIQUID NITROGENCryo Bio System has a range of long-term pack-aging and storage accessories for managing and organizing storage of HSVTM straws in liquid nitrogen (visotubes, goblets, canisters).

THAWING Sample thawing must be done under laminar flow.

• Prepare the thawing and dilution media according to laboratory protocol and your medium supplier’s instructions.

• Identify the HSV™ straw.• Use tongs to transfer the straw from the stor-

age container to the liquid nitrogen-filled transport container.

• Use tongs to lift the straw until the colored rod is exposed. Ensure that the end of the straw which holds the sample remains submerged in the liquid nitrogen.

• Hold the straw between two or three fingers and section it around the colored rod (away from the labelled area) using an opening de-vice. Once you have removed the sectioned part of the straw, hold the colored handling rod and slide the rod and capillary out.

• Submerge the end of the gutter into the first drop of thawing solution (use the volumes and temperatures recommended by your medium supplier). Move it gently to ensure the sample is properly transferred into the solution.

CBS™ High Security Tube, a Class IIa Medical Device

DESCRIPTION / USECryo Bio System has always been committed to developing products which contribute to optimal sample quality and security during cryopreservation. CBS™ High Security straws use cryo-resistant resin which can be entirely sealed before being put in cryogenic storage. Thanks to the new CBS™ High Security Tube, this concept has been extended to cryogenic ampoules and tubes.

The new CBS™ High Security Tube eliminates problems associated with cross-contamination and samples becoming degraded through oxidation and evaporation. DESCRIPTION / USEStorage and preservation of sperm.CBS™ High Security straws are designed to have special properties and filling and sealing methods to guarantee that human samples are never exposed during cryo-preservation, especially when using liquid nitrogen. Manufactured with biocompati-ble materials, the CBS™ High Security straw is designed for use in Assisted Reproduction Technologies, particularly for cryopreser-vation of sperm. The CBS™ straw is a clear, flexible tube made of ionomeric resin.Length: 133 mmInternal diameter: 2.5 mmSterilization performed by irradiation.

CBS™ 0.3 mL strawThis straw has two separate parts which are separated by a white safety plug. The first part holds semen to a volume of 0.3 mL.The second part allows for a colored identi-fication rod to be inserted and can be used for handling when the straw is placed in liquid nitrogen.

CBS™ 0.5 mL strawSame technical specifications as the 0.3 mL straw, except that the working volume is 0.5 mL, and the outer part of the cotton safety plug is colored.

Micro-aspiratorDESCRIPTION / USEManual straw filling.The micro-aspirator is used to manually fill all straws manufactured by Cryo Bio System without any risk of contamination.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE• Hold the micro-aspirator horizontally.• Carefully connect the straw by inserting it into the

conical nozzle of the tubing. The tubing protruding

from the micro-aspirator head should be around 10 cm long.

• Aspirate the biological fluid by slowly turning the aspirator’s thumb wheel in the opposite direction to the adaptor until the desired filling height has been reached.

• Remove the straw from the adaptor.

No special maintenance is required.

Canisters

DESCRIPTIONCanisters are cylindrical sleeves for storing stacks of goblets in liquid or vapor phase nitrogen. Storage in goblets or canisters is convenient for all types of nitrogen containers or electric freezers.

There are five heights of canisters which can con-tain between 2 and 6 goblets. A colored flag at the end of the lifter (a curved metal stem which lifts up the column of goblets) lets users identify each canister by sight.Canisters are placed in the nitrogen storage con-tainer, which is then filled with liquid nitrogen.

The lifter helps users pile up and lift out goblets one by one. Goblets are only handledin the cold environment of the neck of the nitro-gen storage container, so that the samples’ tem-perature remains stable.

A semi-automatic system for packaging biological samples in CBS™ High Security straws.

From an open primary sample tube, PACE auto-matically fills and thermally seals both ends of CBS™ High Security 0.3 or 0.5 mL straws - which can be pre-identified.PACE is the ideal CBS™ machine for managing medium- or large-scale collection protocols. PACE is compatible with CBS™ High Security straws that are pre-identified with barcodes and/or alphanumerical codes, and those that are not yet identified.The system includes a filling and sealing unit and a control box.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE

• UNITARY CUT: Place the tube on the carousel (the position of the tube’s sealing lugs must be as indicated on the carousel). Make sure the tube sits snugly in its holder. Press UNIT CUT. Once the straw has been opened, remove the tube from the carousel.

• MULTI-CUT Place 6 tubes on the carousel (the position of the tubes’ sealing lugs must be as indicated on the carousel). Make sure the tubes sit snugly in their holders. Press MULTI-CUT. Once the tubes have been opened, remove them from the carousel.
