Dear Friends and Neighbors,

It is my honor to report that I have continued my effort to support the Chinese community within our Brooklyn communities. I understand that there have been prominent issues and hardship faced by the Chinese communities caused largely by the new administration in Washington. Namely, Trump’s insensitive stance against immigrants has caused much unnecessary panic among the immigrant communities. As an immigrant myself, I will ensure that our communities are protected from Trump’s inconsiderate policies.

It has always been my goal to make Brooklyn a great place to live and work. Improving public safety, our environment, employment opportunities, and public infrastructure are some of the issues I tackle to ensure the betterment of our communities.

Affordable Housing / 可負擔得起的住房

I understand the rise of living costs in the city has always been a major concern for our communities, especially for the elderly and those with disabilities. Therefore I supported legislation that makes housing more affordable for those with needs. I’ve also urged for better funding of the YouthBuild Act that better edu-cates young adults in terms of housing and provides affordable housing for those in need. The budget this year includes a five-year, $2.5 billion affordable and supportive housing program. I’ve supported affordable housing in legislation since 1997 and will continue my effort.

我知道紐約市生活成本的上漲一直是我們各社區所關

注的主要問題，尤其是老人社區和殘疾人社區。因

此，我支持立法，為這些有需要的人建造更加能負擔

We must protect future generations and ensure that our children have healthy, balanced diets and eating habits. As the creator of the Child Obesity Education Program ten years ago, obesity and malnutrition remain prominent issues for me. It is important to give proper atten-tion to the issue, especially at the starting line of one’s life.

我們必須保護子孫後代，並確保我們的孩子具有健康的

身體和平衡的飲食習慣。我十年前就創立了兒童肥胖症

教育項目，但是我看到，肥胖症和營養不良仍然是非常

突出的問題。重要的是，必須重視這個問題，尤其是要

Education / 教育

Through the Assembly’s combined effort, free tuition for SUNY and CUNY was passed in the budget. Education is key to one’s success in life, making it affordable and accessible to our communities has been one of my priorities in office. State residents with household incomes under $100,000 will be able to enroll in state public colleges tuition-free. The income limit will rise to $125,000 in three years to accommodate inflation. I will continue to push for programs to accommodate English as a Second Language in schools to ensure that those who do not speak English as a native language, like me, will not be disadvantaged and receive the aid they need.

在州眾議院各位同盟的共同努力下，預算案中通過了在

紐約州立大學和紐約市立大學的免學費教育。教育是人

們一生中成功的關鍵，要在我們的社區使教育能負擔得

起，讓所有人都能接受教育，一直是我上任以來首要的

Mental Health / 心理健康

Mental health remains a complex, multi-faceted issue. I have been reinforcing my stance against drug addiction. Opioid addiction has been a troublesome issue relevant to mental health, to which I’ve introduced legislation to create community rehabilitation program. Proper treatment of mentally ill patients is crucial to their abilities to lead a normal life. Therefore I introduced legislation to create single access points at local governments to make services for those in need more reachable. Additionally, I support the establishment of a suicide prevention advisory council and program to pay close attention to the mental health of our youth.

心理健康仍然是一個複雜的、多方面的問題。我一直在強調

我對抗毒癮的立場。鴉片成癮一直是與心理健康有關的棘手

問題，為此，我已經提出了議案，建立社區康復項目。對精

Public Safety / 公共安全

I’ve introduced legislation that retrains law enforcement agents on important, life-saving procedures such as CPR. Additionally, I have introduced Evan’s Law, which aims to hold distracted drivers responsible for their actions. I also urged for breathalyzer tests for pilots to ensure safe and sober flying. I will continue to fight for the safety of our communities and find solutions to public safety issues.
