Background

For this assignment, I visited and observed 7 places including retails, plants and restaurants.

Through silent observation of entire process, I could find a lot of hidden opportunities.

Even though these are my usual places of visit, only when I did complete silent observation, it gave me a different perspective this time and could learn a lot.

Findings / Hidden opportunities :

1. Manufactured bread has to reach the retailers on the same day.

2. Disposal procedure for expired bread.

1. Too much of paper wastage, as every order is served in a thick cardboard box, irrespective of dine-in / take away order.

1. Salesperson needs minimum one hour a day (depending on size of the shop) to check the expiry date of products on the shelves.

1. Lot of people after eating items of their first set of orders, feel like having more. But as KFC is self service and for second order also as consumers have to go and stand back in line to order, they are just leaving the restaurant.

1. Managing supply and delivery based on expiry date (FIFO).

2. Products close to expiry are sold at low cost to distributors.

1. Customers who take clothes from one shelf of one brand, lot of times leave it in another shelf and it gets mixed up. So another consumer who looks for it, may not find it and so probable business loss.
