    1. PROBLEM STATEMENT

The problem is the spreading of H1N1 virus in Malaysia.

    2. OBJECTIVES

The objectives of this project are:

2.1. To provide an accurate analysis of how AH1N1 spreads

2.2. To provide solutions to the main cause of AH1N1

    3. RESEACH TASKS

    The research tasks are:

3.1. To use OPV and CAF to generate a list of probable causes of the spreading of AH1N1.

3.2. To produce a comprehensive Ishikawa Diagram based on the causes generated in 3.1

3.3. To propose 5 solutions to the problem of the spreading of AH1N1.

3.4. To propose and submit an executive report

    4. TASKS

    4.1 Thinking Tools Details

    1. CAF

CAF an attention-directing tool designed to increase the breadth of perception. We are to

take into consideration all the factors that may be involved into a matter. To use CAF, we are to list

down the main factors and the effects of the issue or problem in a table form, and then consider only

a number of the most important factors of an issue or problem, affecting every individual on society

Benefits include able to know what is left out and neglected from thinking, able to avoid the error of

partialism in thinking and able to engage in and tackle problems from different angles. Plus it also

helps reduce the chances of missing out important factors and choices concerning the issue.

    2. OPV

OPV is used to find out the effects of the action to be taken on other people. To use OPV, we

need to find out the people that areinvolved, the effects and how the effects affect the people. Every

effects of our action to be taken must take into account the effects on all the people involved. We list

down the person or group involved into a table and list down their respective views. The benefits of

OPV includes achieving multiple perspectives of different people on the issue whether it is affected

by any consideration, decision or solution and improving ones ability to think from a view point

    other than their personal views.

    3. ISHIKAWA DIAGRAM

Ishikawa Diagram also known as fishbone diagramis used to think about possible causes and

reasons leading to an effector a problem and solutionfor preventing thoseproblems. It is done by

drawing a fishbone-shaped mind map and list all the factors along with the sub-factors involved into

    the mindmap.

4.2 Illustration of Thinking Tools Used to Address the Problem

How AH1N1 is spread (CAF) :

    FACTORS DETAILS

1.Through coughing or sneezing by people

    with influenza

    Virus can be spread airborne.

    2. Through physical contact Virus is transferred from an infected person to a healt

    person through physical contact

3.Through consumption of infected pigs The virus is commonly found in pigs.

    4. By visiting areas once affected by the flu. Virus may still be active at the time of visit.

5.Not much people care about their health. People neglect the importance of their own health.

    6. People neglecting to cook pork properly. As this virus is commonly found in pigs, improper

cooked pork may have higher chance of spreading t

    virus.

Other Peoples Views (OPV) regarding the treatment needed:

    PEOPLE VIEWS

    1. Businessmen How are we to sell pork if they are banned?

    2. Pigsty owner How am I to know if my pigs are infected?

How to know if I am infected?

How am I to support my family if I cannot sell

    pigs anymore?

    3. Ministers How are we to support the need of pork by non-

    Muslim consumers?

Where are we to obtain that much money to

support the cost of treatment and prevention?

    Which treatment is cheaper?

    4. Doctors How am I to help treat the flu patients if the drug is

not licensed for use in Malaysia?

Where am I to get an area for isolating the ones

    infected from affecting others?

    5. Public workers How am I going to get to work comfortably if I

have to always have my mask on?

    6. Drug manufacturers How am I to market my drug?

4.3 Suggested Solutions to the Problem

The solutions to the problem of poor hygiene are:

    1. Wash hands after sneezing and coughing to minimize risk of spreading the virus.

    2. Wear mask.
