Out of the total content, a 30% content is authorised the school authority to assess the child’s
performance on regular basis. This includes projects, home assignment, daily assessment etc.
Rest 70% of the content is being evaluated by means of external examination which is
conducted by (SIE/DIET) to check the performance of a child twice a year as Term 1st and Term
2nd. The components that needed to be evaluated in mathematic include Knowledge,
Understanding and Application/skill development. Following is the distribution according as
these components;
Knowledge Understanding Application/Skill
25% 25% 50%
Keeping in consider these components, question tools (papers) for term 1st will be having four
sections; Section (A): objective Type, Section (B): Very Short answer type, Section (C): Short
Answer type and Section (D): Long answer type, for classes 6th – 9th and there will be only three
sections in the question paper for class 5th i.e. Section (A): Objective Type, Section (B): Short
Answer Type and Section (C): Long Answer Type. Following is the distribution according as the
sections of question paper for Term 1st

Moreover, keeping in consideration the different learning levels among students, there exists
the need of balanced question papers both at school level and at external (SIE) level to be set
so that the actual level of every child/student comes to know for further necessary action
(remedial etc).
