Technology Assessments and Lab Testing: Using our Roadmap as Guideline

Current Research • Address all major residential & commercial end-uses, and

cross-cutting industrial end-uses • EPRI now a recognized authority in multiple EE areas

– Lab testing provides primary data to members and vendors to improve product readiness

– Heat pump technology: from exploring fundamental efficiency gains in TI to performance-mapping VRFs in lab

– Electronics efficiency, consumer and enterprise – Holistic lighting analysis (optical, electrical, thermal, etc.)

Future Work • Continue vetting “demo-worthy” technologies through early

pipeline stages; designate readiness levels • Explore integrated EE & DR technologies and applications • Forge closer relationships with standards bodies, trade

associations, and manufacturers • Address customer issues earlier in assessment process
