Giorgos CheliotisCommunications and New MediaNational University of Singapore
Presented at Commons Crossroads meetingManila, 5-6 Feb 2009
Agenda
1. Show some stats on CC adoption in Asia vis-a-vis the world
2. Introduce a project on creating a global report on CC adoption
3. Seek feedback on items 1 and 2
Disclaimer
• The data that will follow is based on Yahoo search results
• Such data is not very reliable but has proven helpful in tracking our progress at a global level
• There may be mistakes in the data and it is anyway incomplete, so use it as a rough guide, not as an absolute measure of performance
Summary of Stats
1. Korea, Taiwan and Japan still account for most volume in Asia
2. Asian jurisdiction license growth higher than average of CC
3. Younger jurisdictions naturally exhibit higher growth
4. However, licensing preferences still more conservative than CC average, no signs of change

Questions
• What would you like to see in such a report so that it will be more useful to you?• Do you have any design suggestions?• Would you contribute a wiki-style article,
including potentially additional data/reports on your country?• What about language? How do we
encourage non-native English speakers to contribute?
